Lucy Birch at Stowe Family Law is absolutely superb - responsive, smart, empathetic and commercial, understanding the points to make and looking for the best solutions at all times. She has been very responsive, and I feel completley supported through this difficult and, at times complicated, process. She is also mindful of keeping costs down and proportionate. I am really glad that I chose Lucy and Stowe Family Law to support me with my case. While the process that we are undertaking is very slow moving (due to the nature of it, and through no fault of Lucy's) Lucy has kept in touch and provided regular connection moments to stay on top of things. I do not usually write bad reviews, rather put bad service down to learning experiences, however, on this occasion, I felt compelled to briefly share my disappointment and somewhat appalling experience with these solicitors on a review.

Lucy Birch was the solicitor who took on my case. I was initially given advice from Lucy who then some weeks later took a completed U turn and gave me totally different advice. I queried why I had been told the total opposite previously and she said that as this was a civil law case there was no exact science. The advice, in my opinion, should not totally change without any change in the individual case situation. My case was also reviewed by a colleague, another senior advisor, from memory, on at least three occasions for which I was charged. I appreciate such charges were highlighted at the time when I signed my contract, however, since Lucy is a Senior Solicitor, I feel she should not need to have a case reviewed so often if she is confident with her own advice and abilities.

Lucy was almost never available to take a telephone call and took over 20 days to reply to an email which I sent. Apparently she was on holiday and then busy with urgent hearings on her return…..I too was a client but clearly not a priority.

The fees do not offer any kind of value for such a bad service (£325 plus VAT per hour). I paid £3.5k and this was without writing any correspondence to my ex-partner and I also copied documentation, compiled spreadsheets and other data forwarding it onto Lucy myself to minimise costs.

In the end, I lost total faith in the service being provided by Lucy Birch and therefore made the decision to change to another solicitor. This was absolutely the best decision I made. Not only did this solicitor achieve a far greater financial settlement on my behalf than the one Lucy was proposing, the excellent service I received from the new solicitor made me realise what I had been putting up with.

I was going to make an official complaint but didn’t want to hear the excuses, the only department, which is very efficient, is the Accounts Department!!!!

Service was at all times professional with appropriate level of advice. There was good communication and I felt I was never a phone call or e mail away from assistance. I didn’t need to keep chasing replies or responses as these came in a timely manner.
I would use this company again.

Filomena was superb first to last minute I spoke to her, she guided me through the process and what was involved. I can not recommend her highly enough, she and her team go above and beyond and in such a calm demeanour. To anyone in my position, I would highly recommend Stowe to represent.

I dealt with Emel Hamit for my divorce. Emel was always courteous and professional. She had a good eye for detail and was efficient, and had a sense of humour. She was also very reassuring with empathy, at a difficult time in my life, which I greatly appreciated. Everything was good!
