I’ve just gone through an extremely difficult divorce over the best part of two years.

Child arrangements order.
I instructed Stowe Family Law for support ahead of my final hearing after self-representing for most of the proceedings. I dealt mainly with Nicky and Sophie, and both were excellent throughout.
The support was clear, practical and focused on what really mattered. Sophie was very helpful in preparing for the hearing and making sure the key points were properly covered. Nicky was amazing at court and gave calm, sound advice at a very stressful time.
The outcome was what was needed, and I genuinely feel the support from Stowe helped me get there. The costs were also reasonable for the level of service and guidance provided.
I would highly recommend Stowe, especially Nicky and Sophie, to anyone needing family law advice or representation.

My case is still active, but I felt compelled to leave a review because my solicitor, Abbie Playford has been nothing short of amazing. From the moment I joined this firm, a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders.

Brilliant service from start to finish
Brilliant service from start to finish. The team were kind, understanding and sensitive to my situation from the very first contact, and they quickly booked me in with Molly Beattie.

Great speedy service
Orla handled my case through to its conclusion and I can not fault her diligence, communication or personable nature. In the initial meeting with Orla I explained how I would like the case to be handled and Orla carried out negotiations in the style I requested, listening to my view whilst also offering her advice when needed. Orla was very quick with her communications and keeping me informed of the progress and I would definitely recommend her.

Excellent Service
From the very first contact with David Allen he was compassionate and understanding, always listening to my concerns and helping to find a resolution.
Any problems that arose, from issues with the online portal to an unexpected letter from the court for a Child Arrangement Order (which was not the reason I was using Stowe), David and Alison were there to help and support me.
David's knowledge, experience and understanding was shown in the handling of the case, which was not straight forward and I greatly appreciate this.
I would like to thank David, Alison and the wider team for their hard work, understanding and guidance throughout a difficult time.

Jenifer explained everything very clearly and structured and allow me to interject with my questions and simplify things for my better understanding.

They always find or make a reason to charge you.
In the beginning they appear informative and committed to providing a great service with the idea of keeping the cost as low at possible. Unfortunately if your case drags on they will find small things to charge you for monthly so the cost continues to rise, meaning even if your credit is at the minimum 4hrs work they will make it so you are being billed between £650 to £850 monthly. Using small bits of miss information, for example they will send an email saying the op needs to fill in the D81 form not the client, then if this isn't done quickly they will send another email saying they are waiting on you both filling the D81 form in. This will then prompt the client to ask if they need to fill the form in as well, each exchange costing money. The emails sent purposely leave room for questions to be asked, so the responses can be charged. Response times are quick when they want you as a client, but take days or even weeks when you are. All in all looking for a local solicitor is definitely a cheaper option. My experience was not right through to the end of my case though, as circumstances meant I had to remove myself as a client.

We always aim to be clear and transparent about costs from the outset. As explained during your initial meeting and throughout your matter, our fees are based on the time spent and level of work required, rather than the stage ultimately reached. In your case, a significant amount of time was spent on correspondence, advice, and follow-up where required information had not yet been provided by both parties. We also provided updated cost estimates as the matter progressed to ensure you were fully informed, and work only continued on your instructions.
With regard to the D81 form, this could not be completed until the necessary information was received, and we made several requests to both parties to progress this.
We note your comments regarding communication, although we do aim to respond as promptly as possible and are pleased that you felt supported at the outset of your matter.
If you would like to discuss your concerns further, we would welcome the opportunity to do so directly.
