Think very carefully before buying a used car from Sytner MINI.
I was over the moon when I bought my Approved Used MINI, until everything unraveled.
What should have been a straightforward purchase turned into months of stress. After trying to understand the service history, I learned my 'Approved Used' car didn’t actually meet the basic requirements. No full service history. No proper evidence. Nothing that should legally qualify it as Approved Used.
The compensation offered was insulting, and being told to 'just pick another car' wasn’t an option after waiting so long for this exact model. Meanwhile, the car I was mis‑sold has plummeted in value. I can’t sell it without losing thousands, and I can’t trade it in because it doesn’t meet the criteria it was advertised with.
When I asked for senior management details, I was stonewalled. I was even told by “Tommy” that he was senior management, which he was not. That summed up the attitude: deflect, delay, and avoid accountability.
Customer services went silent, so I had to escalate to the Ombudsman, and now the Motor Ombudsman. Nearly two years on, I’m still fighting. I’ve been offered a buy‑out that leaves me losing my deposit and every monthly payment I’ve made, simply because the car was misrepresented from the start.
This has been a breach of trust and a breach of consumer rights.
Think very carefully before buying a used car from Sytner MINI.

As you are aware, we have previously tried on a number of occasions to work through this matter with you directly and reach a resolution that was satisfactory for everyone involved. We appreciate that this has been ongoing for some time, and unfortunately despite several reviews of the issue — including when Tommy was here and again last year — we have not yet been able to make further progress. Given the circumstances the matter was referred to the The Motor Ombudsman, and we are currently awaiting their impartial review and response following our last correspondence with them. Pyper was amazing, she found several vehicles for me to consider, was very warm and friendly and made me feel at ease as I was quite nervous having not changed my car for a long time.
