Poor customer service. Would not recommend.

I have never written a negative review before but on this occasion I felt I had to. I employed Tapco to conduct a survey following my homebuyers survey by a chartered surveyor which raised issues of penetrating damp on a first-floor conversion property. I shared the relevant extracts of the report with Tapco including photographs which showed that the repairs required were external and at first floor level. I was advised by Tapco that I should commission a specialist damp survey for which I paid £200+. When I received the report, it was clear that the Tapco representative had not investigated the external issues that I had clearly asked them to inspect and the report only quoted for internal plasterwork with advice that the external repairs should be completed by a builder. On following up with Tapco, they then told me that they do not complete external works on properties above ground floor level. I was extremely disappointed that this was not highlighted to me by Tapco when I first contacted them. The whole process was a waste of time and caused unnecessary delays to my conveyancing process. I understand that mistakes can be made and I am thankful that a refund was issued. However, I was disappointed by the way it was handled and I received an apology I can only describe as reluctant.

5 star service from Tapcohomedry

We have used Tapco before and I had no hesitation in getting in touch again.
From requesting help in identifying a damp problem to house refurbishment works being undertaken the Tapcohomedry team were extremely efficient and helpful.
Peter the surveyor viewed the issues on site and explained clearly and practically what needed to be done and provided a detailed and understandable quotation.
The Tapco team were then able to respond quickly to our urgent request to get the damp issues resolved and implemented the remedial works very promptly which suited our programme.
The site team were knowledgeable, workmanlike, helpful and tidy and the works were carried out with a minimum of disruption.
The whole team from office to site have been knowledgeable, efficient, courteous and helpful and I have no hesitation in recommending Tapcohomedry to others.

I’m very pleased with the flooring…

I’m very pleased with the flooring replacement carried out at the property. The contractor was professional, punctual, and completed the work to a high standard. The communication throughout the process was clear, and the team ensured the area was kept tidy during and after the installation.

Excellent workmanship

I had damp and condensation in part of my kitchen behind washing machine and sink . I was really concerned about it but Peter, my surveyor explained everything clearly and put me at ease.
It wasn’t a straightforward job as I had to pay a plumber first to remove all the pipe work, kitchen sink and cupboards prior to Tapco commencing work. That was the most stressful part of the job as I had to have temporary flexible hoses for 5 days .
Gregg did the damp proofing for me and he was absolutely amazing. He covered all my cupboards and fridge , protected my floor and seemed to make the job less invasive than I’d imagined. He was a tidy and conscientious worker. A really nice friendly guy.
I’m absolutely delighted with the work . Tapco are a great team . I dealt with Rachel, Gerrie and Ash over the phone and via email .
I have used Tapco in the past and very happy to recommend them for their high quality workmanship . I have also just received my 10 year warranty too. 😊

Really pleased with the work and the attitude of the operatives

We were both very pleased with the work Tapco did for us. The initial survey suggested one job, but once this was underway it was clear more needed doing. We were grateful for the experience and advice we were given. We particularly appreciated the respect all Tapco staff had for our home. They knew that the work was disruptive for us and did their best to manage the disruption by covering floors carefully wherever they needed to go in the house and by cleaning up thoroughly at the end of each day. They were also pleasant to deal with being helpful and considerate.

Highly recommend Tapco

The operatives who came to my house to undertake the damp works were fantastic. They were efficient, tidy and very accommodating. It’s a disruptive process which they made a very positive one. They found solutions to quirky problems in my house to leave the walls better than they were before. Would highly recommend.

Thanks to all the Tapco team who worked on Phase 2 of the project here. Their cheerfulness and considerateness made the inevitable upheaval as manageable as it could be, and they were always ready to go the extra mile. Their skill has resulted in an excellent job. Thanks also to the office team, who were always very helpful. Work took place September - October 2025.

Quote to platering - very professional

From the first quote to the last piece of plastering the Tapco were very professional and really pleasant people to deal with. The quote was comprehensive and well presented. The removal of the old wall plaster as low dust and noise as these things can be, The tanking and replastering was very neatly done. I would defintely recommend them,

Damp issue

Tapco have recently treated a very extensive damp issue in my Victorian flat. The guys working on site were both professional and friendly and the work has been completed to a good standard.
Big thanks to Mimi who works in the office - she was quick to respond to all of my questions and it was a pleasure dealing with her.

Outstanding damp proofing

TAPCO Homedry are outstanding from initial survey through to completion and after care. Excellent communication, professional and respectful. A special mention for Mack and Gregg who worked like Trojans to complete the job within the estimated timeframe and left my property clean as a whistle. Highly recommended and thank you to all concerned.

Bad company

-EDIT: On 31/07/2025 Tapco wrote an untrue reply. I am prepared to show the evidence to any independent party and authorities.
Tapco (ISO 9001 and PCA certified), did 'not intentional' mistakes: a wrong survey around a ('not uncommon') hidden pipe, unprepared and unprofessional to handle a leak, asked the client to pay the plumber due to their mistakes, put pressure to pay and drop the complaint against consumer law, replied as their policy is more important than the law (consumer and building), possibly not respecting building standards plastering a safety cavity, crucially refused to confirm their plastering around the pipe is at building standards (their guarantee does NOT confirm that) and refused to make the survey fee claimable by the insurance.

The reader should judge if the points can be defined as 'not intentional'.
Specifically:
1)If the pipe 'coming from the upstairs flat', Tapco plaster my wall, none else.
2)Tapco did confirm in writing and admitted it is 'NOT UNCOMMON' having hidden pipe in the wall and there was a stain (as per images).
3)Their operative did NOT call the plumber 'immediately' as I (the client) was soaking wet for hours to stop the leak (1.5-2hrs!).. Only after showing incompetence and unprofessional behaviour (operative without the right equipment for a leak and insulting the client), Tapco called the plumber.
4)Tapco was so sorry ('apologise multiple times'), that sent soon after the plumber invoice asking me to partially pay it ... On top of their (wrong) survey fee! It's their way to apologise apparently.
5)I refused to pay the plumber invoice: it was NOT a 'goodwill gesture', 'at their own expense'. TAPCO LITERALLY TRIED TO MAKE THE CLIENT PAY THEIR MISTAKES YET PRETENDING 'GOODWILL'.
6)the Lunagas plumber left BEFORE Tapco did its plastering: how does the plumber even know what Tapco did AFTER he left? They did wrong plastering filling a safety cavity, the plumber did not 'advise' on nor his responsability.
7)Tapco asked the plumber to write a statement to testify his plumbing was done at standards in the attempt to cover its plastering mistake (nothing to do with plumbing).
8) Tapco, although have been asked multiple times, REFUSED to write a statement for their specific job quality as the plumber did.
9) The client,me, had to ask to specifically sign the position of the pipe otherwise Tapco would lose the position evidence.
10)Tapco put 'pressure' to pay immediately threating 'debt collection and interest of 4%' and to drop my complaint (against consumer law rights): This is not 'prioritising my concerns'.
11) Tapco REFUSED (in writing) the survey fee claimable by the insurance.
12) A '10 years guarantee' does not state that the work was done at building standards; it is a conditional warranty focused on treatment (damp) efficacy, not on workmanship quality or compliance.
13) Tapco, to this day, REFUSED to write a statement on the quality of their work at building standards.

Bad company, completely unprofessional and likely not respecting building standards (they self admitted in an email). Especially avoid if you need to claim an insurance (I did pay in protest and without prejudice for further claims and reporting to authorities). They should be reported especially as they are PCA and ISO 9001 certified (which mandate higher standards).
Things you should know if you consider them (I can provide evidence for the below in case necessary for others):
-Their survey completely missed (not ever mentioned) a pipe under a visible water stain in the wall
-When they hit a pipe in the wall, they are completely unprepared with no equipment to handle potential flooding (pipe, caps), they panic, swearing to the client and pretending it is the client fault (and pipes in wall are common occurrence)
-In their work they do not follow building practice and, when asked to redo a part of the work according to recognised standards, they refused. They issue a 'warranty' at 'a standards' self defined (not the statutory standards level).
-They do not take any responsability whatever they break in the house and it is always clients fault including 'the client should tell us to work at building standards'
-They put 'pressure' on the client to pay immediately threating 'debt collection and interest of 4%' and against consumer law that gives the client the possibility to contest thier work especially serious quality fault within at least 14 days
-they refused to make an invoice claimable by insurance because 'this would not work for our accounts'
-As they are in PCA certified, due to the above, they are likely in breach of many of the Code of Practices and Conduct (including to respect ALL the building regulations and statutory laws).

As acknowledged, our engineer did unfortunately hit a pipe while carrying out the job. However, this particular pipe was unusually located, coming from the upstairs flat — a rare and unforeseen circumstance. We took immediate action by calling out an emergency plumber at our own expense to resolve the issue as quickly and efficiently as possible. The third party plumber advised us that he had rectified the issue and that it was NOT necessary to do anything else ( this is in response to your comment that we do not work to building standards)

I understand our engineer appeared stressed during the incident. This was due to the urgency of controlling the water leak while you were present, and ensuring that the situation was resolved promptly. Despite the unexpected complication, we were able to complete the agreed work in full.

Throughout the process, I personally prioritised your concerns, responding in detail to numerous emails swiftly to keep you informed and supported. As outlined in our original report — which you received — our terms clearly state that payment is due within 14 days, which ensures the guarantee on the work remains valid.

To clarify, we have never refused to make your invoice claimable under insurance. In fact, we regularly work with clients who submit our invoices for insurance purposes.
As a gesture of goodwill, and to acknowledge the inconvenience, we refunded the initial survey fee. You subsequently paid the outstanding balance and received your guarantee as expected.

While I have apologised multiple times for the unfortunate incident with the pipe, I would like to reiterate that this was never intentional. We take pride in our work and in resolving issues swiftly when they arise — but we are also human, and sometimes unforeseen issues occur despite our best efforts.

A complete scam

A complete scam! We asked Tapco to carry out a full survey on our house, for which they charged us nearly 400 pounds. We paid a despoit to Tapco based on this survey only to find out they had not completed a full survey and had returned to the property and then doubled the price of the quote. Despite not carrying out a full survey on the first visit, they refuse to refund these costs. I hope this review helps other's falling into this trap.

Good afternoon

We have reviewed your file thoroughly, and our records clearly show that two separate site visits were carried out at your tenanted property. The initial survey was completed as scheduled, but due to certain areas being inaccessible at that time, we arranged a second visit to ensure those areas were properly inspected.

Our instructions were not to discuss any matters with the tenants ( we have these instructions on your notes ) hence we could not ask them to move furniture whilst we were on site . Following each visit, we issued a detailed report outlining our findings, in line with the scope of the service you requested. The price quoted increased as additional damp was found in the newly accessible areas .

We understand that you may have expected all areas to be surveyed during the first visit ; however, access limitations beyond our control necessitated the second appointment. We undertook this second visit at no additional cost to ensure we delivered a complete and thorough service.

Our intention is always to provide the client with the best possible service and we do understand that the cost of remedial damp works can be a shock and unexpected however we cannot control the extent of damp found once furniture is moved.

Given that we fulfilled the agreed scope of work by conducting two surveys and providing two reports, we respectfully do not believe a refund is warranted in this case.

We are sorry that we have not provided you with the solution that you had hoped for on this occasion.

Extremely efficient, thorough & reliable

I have been super impressed by the outstanding customer services and care throughout the process of working with Tapco to resolve damp issues in our living room. They were quick to respond to my initial request for a survey to be carried out, competitive on quotes for the subsequent works, always arrived on time, were friendly, diligent and thorough in their work and in minimising the impact on me and the rest of the house given I am heavily pregnant and was working from home to allow the team access. I couldn't fault them and would like to personally thank the team involved; Gerrie, Alex, Rachael, Michael, Martin, Brian, Robbie.

Condensation problem in bedroom

Had persistant condensation problem in children's bedroom. Surveyor recommended installing thermal wallpaper on two walls. Booking the work was seemless and the work took three days to complete with negligible noise etc. Tapco are a very easy and professional company to use and are highly recommended by me.

Quality service throughout

From the initial survey through to the final plastering of walls Tapco were excellent helping us with a long overdue damp proofing course of action. Quality of the work delivered by Greg and team was impressive and we'd definitely recommend them to others.

100% Good Job

Good Afternoon

I wanted to take the time to say thank you to Paul, who came to fit Vents.

He was prompt and turned up on time. He was patient and took the time to explain the job, what was involved and how he would be proceeding.

He was very patient with the Customer and answered all my questions so I felt secure about what was happening in my home.

He problem solved any obstacles so the job could go ahead as some of the areas outside were inaccessible in regards to wiring- but he made it work.

Paul was professional, knew his trade which gave me Customer confidence. He left my home as dust free as possible.

I am thrilled with his work and am really glad Tapco chose him to do the job.
