Telford Automobiles, Carlisle レビュー

I was wanting to test drive Citroen Dispatch van. Cameron one of the sales guys sorted this out, no issues what so ever, no pressure sales tactic. The van was great, quick, quiet and car like. Cameron was great, but his follow up call was to say the van sold a couple of days later.

Pre sales experience perfect. However, car appears to have not had the promised pre delivery checks eg rear wiper blade found to be shredded, engine fault flag illuminated after 200 miles…returned to Carlisle where it was “cleared” with no confirmation of what fault it indicated apart from an admission that a major software update was required (query missed at both pre delivery check and June service!).
So, another wasted day at great cost (loss of one days output/fee) taking car 70 miles for a 2 hour software update which, in the event, took in excess of 5 hours. So left home at 07.00 arrived back at 16.00.

Friendly welcome with smiles 😊 when we had our Citroen relay in for a service.
Great service van all washed and clean ready to go straight back to work.
Thanks to Telfords of Carlisle see you on my next service 😉👍

Not every company would send the GM out to a break down to see if he could help.
He did diagnose the problem and said it would have to be taken to the garage to be fixed.
Harry kept me up to date throughout the repair and sorted payment on my warranty.
Great service, great company, this is my third car from them and looking forward to my fourth.

Just awful , booked van in for warranty repair, said they couldn’t remove the faulty sensor as it was seized and warranty did not cover the extra £1500 worth of work to replace. Warranty not worth having , no customer goodwill , bought van from them 10 months prior -

Update: Since posting my earlier review, Telfords have contacted me, threatening to take me to court for ‘defamation’ if I do not remove it.They claim that my post is defamatory because the case “never went to court” and liability was never admitted. The case I brought against Telfords was on the small claims fast track and proceeded through several court appointed dispute resolution hearings, in the presence of a Judge. Just prior to the deadline of paying the fee for the fixed trial date at court, their solicitor settled my claim. Telfords say my phrase in my original review that “evidence was stacked against them” was also defamatory. I made this statement because the first independent automotive forensic investigative report stated in its conclusion that: “the examiner is therefore of the opinion that the repairs undertaken at MJ Telford’s Garage have not been undertaken with reasonable care and skill”. The second (court-appointed) inspection concluded that: “on the balance of probabilities, the repairs by MJ Telford Garage were not undertaken with reasonable care and skill. These findings were significant and of utmost importance to my case but, still, I retract my previous description of them as being 'the evidence that is stacked up'. Lastly, Telfords states that any suggestion in my review that there was any wrongdoing, by them, may give rise to a claim in defamation.

With this in mind, my original review amended:

I submitted a claim to take Telfords to the small claims court after they carried out several repairs to our car which were followed by almost immediate breakdowns, the final one ending in catastrophic engine failure. Telfords consistently denied that their repairs were related to the breakdowns. Shared with Telfords were the observations, findings and conclusions from two independent (one court appointed) expert witness investigative reports and an AA report. Also, the case continued through several dispute resolution hearings up until the eve of trial at which point their appointed solicitor agreed to settle and their insurance company paid out. Telfords claimed that they were doing their utmost to address our concerns about the cause of the breakdowns, but these felt like hollow words given we had sent them the investigative reports and their only offer to address the issues was to carry out further investigations to find the root cause of engine failure at a further cost to us Attempts to seek resolve and/or redress continued for a period of time extending to almost two very stressful and anxious years. The outcome was bittersweet and this experience is one I wouldn't wish for anyone.

After a very frustrating and lengthy experience with ongoing issues with the rear windows in our Citroën Berlingo, I wanted to leave a review specifically for Harry Telford.

We experienced repeated delays with warranty parts (which was not the fault of Telford's), communication issues and a lot of frustration along the way. However, once Harry personally took ownership of the situation, things started moving in the right direction.

Harry kept us updated, arranged a courtesy car for us, organised collection of our vehicle due to the distance we live from the dealership, and made sure the issues were dealt with properly. Both rear window faults have now been repaired. Harry also went above and beyond to help us with a further issue that developed, which may not have been covered under warranty, and this was very much appreciated.

Harry turned what had become a very frustrating experience into a positive outcome. Thank you again, Harry – your efforts really were appreciated.

Very helpful and knowledgeable
Pristine condition
Thomas was very helpful and answered all our queries
Feel reassured we made the right choice with Telford.
Lovely to drive

Very helpful from start to finish all staff very pleasant and knowledgeable special mention to jack 10 /10

Extremely rude and obnoxious receptionist, she was a mature woman ( I think related to the manager), she had no customer service skills whatsoever, she had a severe attitude problem, and persistently disagreed with my partner. The job was supposed to take less than an hour, four and a half hours later still weren't finished, she made a sarcastic comment about how annoying it was that us the customer were for constantly "checking up on them", we had now vehicle to go anywhere and I had a hospital appointment, which I nearly missed, but was told it was not her problem. Absolutely disgusting service, if there was another Citroen in Carlisle I would have gone there.

If you looking for poor customer service Telfords are for you !
They will happily book you in ...ohh but then ... "sorry sir can only apologise we havent ordered the parts.... we can book you in again and you can take another day off work to accommodate us "

Parts fitted that were not essential. Treat their sales girls recommendations with great caution. Will never go back.

If you buy a used car while it's raining, be sure to ask them to bring the car under cover and dry it off, so you can inspect it for the dings and scrapes which they won't mention, and which you can't see while it's heaving down. I'm sure those things WOULD be mentioned if on a car you were selling to them ....

I think the best part about it was they kept me informed with accurate information through the buying service

Dealt with, very patiently, as I take time over decisions, by Jack Telford.
Car presented excellently, ready to drive away.
My second purchase from Telfords as service to date has been first class.

After agreeing to purchase a van from them i told them i would arrange my own finance as there apr was terrible which they said was fine i went up to pay for the van they told me they had done theyre calculations wrong and wanted an extra £300 which the salesman didnt think that would be a problem for me so i left without them getting theyre sale

I am saddened, shocked, gutted, feel betrayed, ripped off, and left out of pocket.
I bought an Approved Citroen c3 aircross 1.2 2021 model from Telfords in Carlisle under their management deal with two free services.
Today ( 3-01-2025) I took my car for its MOT and free service. I only had one service as the Telford family deducted one of my free services under their Approved car deal before I payed for it and picked it up. I battled for months sending emails for a copy of my other free service as the services section demanded proof, but alas this did not happen. The sale adviser emailed me saying he would pass it on to the services team ( About 4 metres away) in an open plan building) this did not happen.
My car was booked in two weeks before it's MOT is due so I had not quite had the car 12 months.
I was informed on the telephone that no curtisey car would be provided. I explained to Telfords that I live accross the border in Scotland and Telfords said it would be a couple of hours and that I could wait which I did.
I was immediately asked at the reception desk if I had proof of the free service as they had no knowledge of this. The sales person who sold me this car was off today. I eventually found the emails on my phone and this was accepted. I gave Telfords my key, the mechanic drove my car into the workshop and pulled down the shutters so I did not see my car for next 4 hours, yes, 4 hours I had to wait . I had to ask a salesman if there is anywhere for me to sit and was directed to a waiting area. After an hour I walked around the showroom and found a coffee machine that I did not know was available. A couple of more hours passed and not one person approached me or updated me. Eventually, the services staff member informed me that my car needed new front brake pads and two new brake discs costing a couple of hundred pounds and that exhaust coupling needed welding. And other brake parts required renewing as well as a new back tyre . This is now running into many hundreds of pounds on a three year old Approved car I bought off Telfords. No way, I had only done 8 thousand miles and ownership of just under 12 months. Should this happen to an Approved car. I asked about my warrenty and low and behold, I was informed that the warrenty does not cover these parts. I feel ripped off, out of pocket and betrayed by the Telford moto that they pride themselves in their customer care. I didn't see that today. What I seen was a bunch of Cowboys ripping off customers. I will never never purchase another car from Telfords and advise other customers to read this and go elsewhere. Shame on you Telfords. Shame on you.

I strongly advise against trusting this dealership. Although they seemed polite and accommodating during the purchase, their after-sales service was a completely different story.

I purchased a Citroën from them, and the problems started immediately:

Punctured tyre: The car arrived with a punctured tyre.
Service issue: A warning light indicated the car needed servicing just one month after purchase. Despite their claim that the car had been serviced before delivery, they admitted they forgot to update the system to reflect this.
Even after acknowledging their mistake, they refused to refund me for the unnecessary service I had to pay for. They also refused to pay for the new tyre.

This behaviour is dishonest and unacceptable. I feel completely disappointed and would recommend avoiding this dealership at all costs. They do not uphold basic accountability or customer care once the sale is finalised.
