I would strongly advise anyone to think very carefully before purchasing from The Appliance Depot / J+S Home Appliances Ltd. The level of customer service I experienced was shocking, stressful, and completely unacceptable.
We ordered an American fridge freezer from this company and were told that the driver would contact us approximately 30 minutes before arrival. Instead, he called insisting he would arrive within 15 minutes, forcing us to abandon our shopping and rush home.
From the moment he arrived, the driver appeared unhappy and immediately expected me to help move the appliance from the van to the front door. I explained that I am 72 years old and recently underwent shoulder surgery, making it impossible for me to lift heavy items. The driver then stated that he himself had recently suffered a stroke. This raises a serious question: why would a company send an elderly driver with medical issues alone to deliver extremely heavy appliances without assistance?
The situation became even worse when the driver brought the fridge to the driveway, measured the front door, and abruptly announced that it would not fit through the entrance. Without offering any help, advice, or solution, he simply turned around and walked away, leaving the fridge abandoned on my driveway. When I called after him and explained that he could not just leave it there, he showed no concern whatsoever.
To make matters worse, he drove away carelessly with the lift mechanism still scraping along the ground. I immediately tried calling him back, but he ignored my calls completely.
I then contacted the company office and spoke to two members of staff, including the manager. Their attitude was just as disappointing as the driverâs. Rather than helping resolve the issue, I was told to âtake the fridge apart,â remove the doors myself, and move it into the house. When I explained that I could not physically do this, the manager coldly suggested that I âhire a courierâ and return the appliance at my own expense.
I asked why the driver could not simply return to collect the appliance, but I was told he had gone on to other deliveries and could not come back. I carefully explained the driverâs behaviour and the distress caused, yet the manager appeared completely uninterested. He promised he would speak to the driver and call me back. I am still waiting for that call.
I later contacted a courier company myself and was informed it would cost approximately £250 to return the fridge to their warehouse. As things stand, the appliance is now stuck in my garage until I can somehow find two people willing to help move it.
This companyâs customer service is appalling. The manager was dismissive, unhelpful, and showed absolutely no concern for customer care. The other staff member I spoke with was equally rude and unprofessional.
I have rarely experienced such poor treatment from a company. Once they have your money, customer support appears to be the last thing they care about.
Please think carefully before buying anything from The Appliance Depot / J+S Home Appliances Ltd, especially large appliances requiring proper delivery support and professional customer service.

Bought a graded SMEG range cooker at a great price. The only visable defects were marks on one side of the cooker. This turned out to be glue which was removed quite easily. After a very professional delivery the cooker was stored in a room waiting for the new kitchen to be fitted. This was about 6 weeks. When finally installing the cooker we noticed a missing accessory. Contacted The Appliance Depot who sent out the item with no quibbles arriving the following day. Great product, great price and excellent customer service.

Bought a SMEG microwave for over £300 (I thought new) less than 12 months ago.

Just waited inn for my new fridge freezer. The driver was a sound guy and helped me unpack it. The damage was shocking. A massive dented door, a dented handle. The other side was covered in horrific dents which were so bad and the metal was exposed. The driver was as mad as me. I spoke with customer service when the driver was still with me and they had the cheek to offer me a £100 discount. I cannot believe a company would send a fridge freezer in that condition. I had spoken to this company before buying and they said it was in immaculate condition. My online shop had to be cancelled and i cannot believe what just happened. Shocking and i would question buying from a company like this...

Watch out for products marked GRADED!
Bought BOSH Series 8 Integrated Microwave- Graded. It did only said it was graded cause of the strach on the back which is not visible. I canât believe this is truth now as only after 3 years of use- the Microwave broken down. Error E1007. Contacted company for a warranty. Unfortunately warranty is only valid 2 years! I have a feeling the microwave that was sold to me not only did have a strach but it was faulty as I canât imagine BOSH will last me only 3 years of use.

Very helpful when I telephoned them to confirm the appliance came with an LPG conversion kit. Buying process easy and delivery confirmation within 24 hours. So far excellent service. Just waiting delivery.

Miss sold and lied to
Bought Bosch tumble dryer from them it arrived in bubble wrap which I thought was strange so called them to be told that because they get the machine direct this was the reason so I just left it at that couldnât be bothered to argue
2 days later started to get problem with machine code kept coming up telling me to run cleaning circle so called them they told me to call Bosch
I had to wait 2 weeks for Bosch engineer who was brilliant who told me it wasnât new and had 102 hours run time on it
So all though they said it was new the ᅩ lied to me stay well clear of this company

Inadvertently purchased a regraded SMEG microwave in March 25. I had wanted to purchase a new one. Too late to change once mistake realized. Well packaged but not in box. Delivered on pallet. No problems. The "quality report" left inside the appliance listed faults we couldn't find. What was obvious to the naked eye immediately however was three solder points of four to attach the support bar to four fingers of the grill element had come adrift. Does not say much about quality control. To be repaired under warranty but inconvenient to say the least. Pity.
Further to above early August 25 the oven stopped working after it emitted a loud bang. It transpires that the main pcb had in part blown and has to be replaced. Again to be repaired under warranty (overall cost with engineer visits estimated to be in region of £200) but it's the inconvenience of it all. Engineer could not say why the board had shorted and could only guess it may have been faulty. Previous three stars reduced to one. Pity. And it goes from bad to awful. Last week, 23 Mar 2025, both control knobs again became faulty and again will have to be replaced. Supplier unable/unwilling to help as faults 3 logged 3 weeks after installation and so out of warranty period.
