Love going to the gym group, friendly staff always helpful. Great classes!!

I've worked with Craig for over a year now, and he is always really great. Thoughtful planning of reach session ensures I am continually challenged to improve.
He manages the plans when I have an injury or strain to ensure time isn't wasted, and the injury supported.
Great manner and always completely professional. I can't recommend highly enough!

Best gym in barnsley in my opinion. Nice clean, great music and tons of machines/equipment.

I have been a member of this gym for many years.
It's a great place and has a friendly atmosphere.
The trainers are approachable, especially *Josh and Dave.
There is lots of equipment.
It is used by people of all different ages and I have never felt silly training here.

Ive only had Dave Iddon as personal trainer since November yes he pushes you but I like being pushed to my limit. Dave have given me the courage and strength to keep going through the worst of things and keeping my head high, thank you Dave for being there and supporting all of us thank you.

Barnsley Gymgroup
In all the years ive been training, Never have I ever seen a badly run gym like this one, Complaints procedures dont exist, I know (ive tried) Managers, Area managers, Head office wont even respond to you, Even some of the PT's complain about how bad management is, Ive seen an exodus of people leaving because quite a few have got £100 fines for not logging their car in when visiting, (when they had).
Car park at the weekend is a nightmare, Ive seen staff rolling in at 9.45am to unlock it instead of the 8am opening.
Theft is rife, a lot locker doors are bent in half from people breaking into them. The toilets ar disgusting and been out of order for weeks as the stench is terrible, Theres no music, No atmosphere and now hardly any people, as most have left and gone to the other big gym in town, (which is cheaper and much much better)
The only people that are using it are not the type you would want to train alongside or associate with.
I would advise anybody not to use this place OR let your kids use it, Its the most unfriendliest place ive ever come across with some very unsavory characters in it.
Just look at some review sites on this place before you make your mind up and you.ll see what i mean

Gymgroup barnsley once was a good gym, Not anymore, just put price up again, They just havent kept pace with other gyms, no new or different machines in years, No music on at anytime, No atmosphere whatsoever, No wonder JD gym down the road has taken most of gymgroups clients, Its no wonder as JD gyms continue to introduce new machines, where as gymgroup is jyst an investment group and has no interests in sport...i will give it a year before it closes down

Gym ok but zero customer service. Got parking ticket despite registering my car details as soon as arriving at the gym. I have been asking customer services to send copy of log showing I was at the gym, not received despite chasing this up.
This is the second time I have had an issue and have had to contact customer services, first of all you get an automated response then if you can get a response from a person you still get nowhere.

Good facilities for all abilities and friendly environment.

It’s a nice, friendly gym with loads of equipment for a price that is very fair. The staff always are accommodating and are nice.
Liams classes are amazing.
On the days that I can't find motivation he is an expert of motivation (lol)
The only thing missing to make it a perfect gym is a hip thrust machine.
As far as I am aware all new The gym group gyms has got one of them, and I have been told ours got no plans to get one in the future

Over a period of time the Gym Group at Barnsley has allowed previously good standards to fall. The influx of schoolchildren has made the gym seem like a school.Firstly the changing room invariably smells of cannabis. The changing stands specifically for use to enable Customers to get changed are covered in Horizon Blazers. The lockers are full of people’s gear who don’t use a lock. Finally the behaviour of these people is constantly being challenged by Customers because staff are unaware due to sitting in the office playing on their phones. Such challenging of these people and their behaviour will invariably lead to an incident. Machines are constantly tied up with youngsters messing around. Who after their session do not tidy up. That in itself is bad enough but the inaction of the staff is inexcusable

The Gym Group in Barnsley is on the decline. The staff haven’t been able to manage the problem of members not putting weights away. So much so that if any member is challenged about this they make comments like “why should I” this comes from a lack of visible management. Or “what’s going to happen if I don’t”. These people should be banned! Their £20 per month is better off gone than having to clear up after them. Let’s move onto the disabled parking! Non disabled members regularly use them, again when challenged their attitude is appalling! However defending this arrogant act becomes impossible when the PT uses that spot too, when it’s not busy! Surely that’s some kind of Oxymoron? Being an able bodied, PT instructor, but needing to use the disabled bay nearest the door!

Very poor for the price and very bad policy

I was there for about 4 months but at the end of the last year made me to decide to leave this gym away. The gym was shut for a couple of days and i did not get any compensation, eventually they decided to open but actually they were working to replace the floor that created very much noise and dust everywhere. I decided to leave at that time and I returned one week later when they finished it.
The masive issue is that the place is too small according how many people come and you alawys have to queue for using the machines.
Finnaly I decided to leave and closed my membership by cancel my direct debit but I did it with just 2 day before my money will be taken instead of 4. However they took my money for a full month and I said that I will go there for another month as I paid.
Surprising when I got to the gym my code did not work even though they took my money for a full month.
Shame The Gym Group!!
At the end I stronggly do not recommend this gym to anyone.

Been training at this gym for some time now. And apart from the fact it's a mess all the time and weights are left out constantly it's ok. Me and my boyfriend trained here together a gre months back. He isn't a member he paid for a day pass. We parked up as normal trained and left. Months later we had a text from debt collectors saying that we had a £140 fine. Unfortunately we have moved house so the letters were going to our old address. However the guy we spoke to said they had been trying to contact us for months. Yet we didn't have one phone call or text from them. Apart from 4 months later when they told us about the fine going up. We quite obviously trained here. And I'm pretty sure if the gym went theough their cameras they would see this. We have a child and to be paying this much money out is beyond a joke. We used the car park to go to a gym i pay for on a monthly basis and my partner pays as and when he wants to train here. ! There isn't any clear signs stating to put the reg in. Gym group sort this out!

Decent gym but IF YOU PARK IN THEIR CAR PARK ENSURE YOU ENTER YOUR REG ONTO THE CONSOLE INSIDE THE GYM. YOU WILL RECEIVE A TICKET OTHERWISE. SIGNAGE IS VERY POOR REGARDING THIS AND THERE IS NO MENTION ON THE WEBSITE

Machines always broken weight plates and other equipment allways missing and gone.
Poor water drinking facilitys water most of time warm and unhealthy to drink also giving people stomach sickness.
Bad hygiene in mens locker rooms and toilets urinals blocked and clogged germs walked in once to crap allover toilet wall.
Staff turned air con off during summer only using to there needs not the other customers and people in the gym.
Can hardly get on equipment,benches or machines
Weight left lying all over floor causing health hazards.
Needs to be changes for definite to commercial gyms like gym group was better when was called lifestyle fitness gone down hill no
care or thought in customers appalling something needs to be done.

Best gym there is. Best staff ever.

It can be quite overwhelming entering a gym for the first time . We are both in our late 60 ‘s and decided to get fit with a personal trainer at Burnley Gym . We travel 25 miles to get there .
Friendly , incredibly clean I would recommend this gym without any doubt at all .
We will be moving to the North East soon and look forward to joining the gym group in Darlington .
