Very bad gym in Harrow just canceal my membership with out reason and still take the payment and staff unfriendly and rude

Been going here once a week consistently since January 2025. Ended membership late July 2025 due to moving house.

Ok treadmills (not all that advanced)
Ok equipment selection - could do with more
Fairly clean and on point with facilities
‘Staff’ / trainers, they’re always wondering about but won’t say anything for free, always stood talking personal chat.

Equipment itself NEEDS DEEP CLEANING, disgusting at times!

ONLY great for a workout off peak timings.
Wouldn’t touch it or go near there after work.

Also said to customer service a couple times who weren’t helpful, suggesting they should add benches (which cost barely anything) so that people can stop hogging equipment claiming to be ‘resting’, scrolling through social media - it’s irritating in this small branch and just delays others. Of course raising in branch staff couldn’t care less, saying they can’t do anything.

Worse gym I’ve ever been a member off full of staff who sit about talking to one another and do nothing + full of young kids who like to hog machines taking selfies without actually doing any working out! There should be a rule for this behaviour I’ve cancelled my membership and joined a new gym but waiting for the new jd gym to open up next month hopefully this is better and have staff who actually want to help

Useless live chat and phone number. I'm trying to contact someone as my app doesn't ever let me scan the QR code as it says I'm not in the gym. But it's impossible to contact someone here! Waste of time. About to leave this gym soon if this doesn't get solved.

The Gym is unhygienic because nobody cleans anything. The company is run by penny pinchers who made the decision to remove all sanitising stations from their gyms and cut back on all forms of cleaning. The gym equipment is therefore absolutely disgusting and is often covered in sweat and other bodily fluids and nobody cleans or wipes down the equipment after themselves.
The gym staff PRETEND to clean the equipment with a filthy feather duster despite the fact that the equipment is not dusty it's unhygienic.
I have raised this issue multiple times with the company and have been told repeatedly that the decision to remove cleaning stations and stop cleaning was made to make the company become carbon neutral and reduce waste.
Cleaning is an essential part of any gym and until they reinstate the cleaning stations it will not be possible to give the gym more than 2 stars.
Every piece of equipment in the gym feels gross and dirty. It's a shame because otherwise it would be a very good gym.

This is the first and only gym I’ve been to which has shameless used the token idea of being “eco friendly” to choose profit over hygiene which risks the health of its members.

If you are happy to use a gym enviroment where 100s of people are expected to sweat and have their bodily fluids all over items which are not cleaned by users of the gym after use, then don’t worry this gym is one for you as all other aspects about the gym are actually decent. If however, you do prefer a gym enviroment where members take an active and respectful role to clean up after themselves, then read on as it’s frankly disgusting.

This gym has done little to directly enforce or ensure people clean up after themselves, meaning it’s a hygiene “free for all”. Trying to be respectful of other users and making the gym reasonably clean for other users is entirely optional meaning it’s not unreasonable to have benches or barbells or machines lathered in the sweat of strangers. I’ve seen sweaty people and equipment on many occasions with no towels or attempts by users to clean up and there is no consequence for such behaviour and no obvious enforcement to make gym users accountable.

Other gyms have cleaning stations but this gym has chosen to take that away and expects it’s limited staff to keep their eyes out to try and wipe up after all gym users which is impractical and unattainable.
It’s also “asked” members to bring towels but has done nothing to actually enforce it.

Please note, the gym staff are sincerely lovely and are just trying to do their jobs and this review is aimed at the management above them as this is based on company wide policy and not how the gym staff manage the gym.

There are a million ways you can be more eco friendly and still empower people to clean up after themselves and not have to rely on half measures to keep the place clean. I’ve been to many gas station bathrooms that feel cleaner than this gym as at least over there, people actually have the tools to clean up after themselves.

Really disappointed and have seen other reviews about this but from the lack of change and waffle about being eco friendly makes it crystal clear the management running this company do not care.

The Basingstoke gym has a very good atmosphere, the equipment is very good.
I look forward to going back.

The Gym Basingstoke has a great atmosphere with staff that are always willing to help. A good variety of classes and equipment and a friendly place to workout.

Great range of equipment, well organised/clean and above all very friendly staff are there to help you.

Really good gym with a lovely and welcoming atmosphere. Staff are all fantastic, but Gem in particular has been an absolute legend in helping me build my confidence as someone who had never set foot in a gym (and found the thought of doing so terrifying!). She's turned me into someone who actually looks forward to going!

Great gym. Open 24/7
Good selection of equipment good for majority of people.
Not great for a hardcore gym bro.
Dumbbells up to just 40kg
No inverted wide handle attachments.
Prior to 9pm it’s to busy to get a good session.

The personnel is great. Unfortunately, the place gets very crowded and the app doesn't give reliable information on the number of people/% of people against the overall capacity.

I just stopped going to the gym solely for this reason. Unless going very early in the morning, before 5, it's pretty much rammed all the time in my experience. Usually have to wait for equipment to be free. Very frustrating and generally not satisfied! Would rather pay more for a membership where it isn't crowded all the time so I can focus.

Not very good value for money for a budget gym.

Good atmosphere, lots of equipment

Great gym with a few flaws. lack of rope attachments for the machines. To busy at certain times. Never any room in the weight area.

Great price, no contract and great availability.

Everything is fine except my only complaint would be the lack of step machines on the 2nd floor. They are often in use and difficult to get on. Apart from that all good.

Seem to be an underlining problem regarding how there data is stored as another person has managed to get access to my code . From this I’ve been getting continuous email that they’re planning on terminating my membership. Despite them not offering to change my code what so ever .

24/7 access, good range of equipment, insufficient cleaning stations, lack of staff supervision over teenagers abusing the equipment.

Location, friendly stuff, perfect app
