We’re a friendly, family run business nestled in the glorious North Yorkshire Moors, within walking distance of the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway. Our customers are modellers, collectors and enthusiasts who are fans of model railways, vehicles (military and civilian), and diecast models and figures. They are also keen kit builders and diorama creators. Our knowledgeable team includes railway modellers and dedicated railway enthusiasts, RC experts and plastic kit enthusiasts. We’re ready to provide you with a premium experience and first-class service. We’re essentially mail order, but we do have an onsite showroom and workshop for visitors to enjoy. We stock all major brands of model railway locos and rolling stock across all gauges at competitive discounted prices, usually around a 15% reduction on the recommended retail price. It’s not just locos - we supply everything you need to compliment your layout from scenery, figures, buildings and electrics to modelling tools, paints and effects. We also sell an extensive range of plastic kits, slot cars, diecast models and aviation models.

I made two separate orders after my good train friend (Clive Dudley) recommended TMC to me. The orders were promptly dispatched, well packed and arrived in Singapore very quickly. Staff were responsive and communicative. Well done!

Great! Cannot fault!

Easy to use website, all items are competitively priced, packaged well and shipped quickly. Any questions I’ve had are answered quickly and with expertise.

No after sales support

I purchased an IXO kit and discovered a missing part. I contacted TMC 4 weeks ago to be told they would chase it with the supplier. A week later, after no update I contacted TMC again to receive a virtually identical response to the last. Nearly 4 weeks now and no update and no replacement part. IXO are usually good with replacements so I don’t accept the delay by TMC. I’ve had cause to request missing parts before, via a different retailer, and I received parts within less than a week. Don’t be taken in by TMC as their after-sales support is clearly non-existent. I now find myself in a position where I have to seek resolution through my card provider.

Thank you for your review. We are very sorry to hear of your disappointment and appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation.

Your IXO kit order was originally placed on 29/10/2025 and was dispatched within 24 hours of purchase. We were first contacted regarding the missing part on the evening of 16th April 2026, after our office had closed, and we replied promptly the following working day to confirm that we would contact the supplier on your behalf, as we do not hold spare parts separately in-store.

Following your further enquiry on 27th April, we updated you to advise that we were still awaiting confirmation from the supplier regarding the replacement part. We then contacted you again on 28th April to explain that the replacement components are being sourced from France and that there would unfortunately be a delay while they are supplied and shipped to us.

We completely understand that waiting for replacement parts can be frustrating, especially when previous experiences may have been quicker. However, as the parts are supplied directly by the manufacturer overseas, the timescales involved are unfortunately outside of our direct control. Please be assured that we have continued to chase this with the supplier and will forward the replacement parts to you as soon as they arrive with us.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience while we work to resolve this matter.

I've recently had six TT:120


I've recently had six TT:120 locomotives renamed and number by the TMC, the service does take time as the guys are always busy, but the results are worth the wait. I'm really happy with them, and it's great to have some locos with different names arriving at the station on my layout.
