265 per month for 1/2 of the contracted facilities

Paying £265 per month for a “premium” gym only to discover that when a major facility closes for weeks, members are simply told to accept it and move on.

Third Space Battersea has closed its swimming pool for an extended period due to maintenance works. I completely understand maintenance has to happen. That was never the issue.

The issue is the complete refusal to offer any goodwill adjustment, partial refund or account credit whatsoever, despite the pool being a key part of the membership many people specifically joined for.

I raised the matter politely and reasonably through their complaints process and was repeatedly referred to their terms and conditions. Interestingly though, management later admitted compensation is discretionary, meaning they can compensate members if they choose to, they are simply choosing not to here.

The alternative offered was to travel to Wimbledon or Tower Bridge instead. That may sound reasonable on paper, but for members who joined Battersea specifically, this means extra travel time, inconvenience and additional cost, while still paying full premium membership fees.

What disappointed me most was the attitude throughout the process. There seems to be an assumption that members paying extremely high monthly fees will simply absorb reduced services without question.

For a luxury gym brand that markets itself heavily on member experience and premium service, the handling of this situation has been incredibly poor.

Facilities are good, but when problems arise, members appear to be taken for granted.

Poor customer service

This is an amazing gym with great classes. However. When you join and pay full fees which are high, you get told you can only use the facilities between 9-5 and no weekends because you have to wait until space which for me is 3 months plus. Then yesterday I was informed the pool will close for 3 weeks as it has a crack. Fair enough but when I asked what they would do to compensate this as I joined theirs space Battersea because I love swimming and I’m a member of White City and their pool has been closed for months too, they said nothing. I was told I can suspend my membership but no access changes to compensate, no credit for PT etc or even for the cafe. No reduction in fees. Just take it or leave it. I find this attitude rather arrogant and certainly not customer focused. The manager I spoke to was smiling and polite but no solution means that my initial excitement at joining this gym has dissipated somewhat. Customer service is non existent. I was only offered to use Tower Bridge or Wimbledon. miles away! Honestly, not impressed.

Best

I’m so happy i joined Third Space.
The gym has a great atmosphere, all the staff, the reception team are friendly, welcoming, helpful, and professional.
I would especially like to thank my PT trainer Rylan Beech for being extremely professional, skilled, and attentive. He understands my goals, explains exercises very clearly, he has really helped me improve my workouts technique and confidence in the gym. He always motivates me and makes every session enjoyable and effective. I have already seen a big difference in my body and workouts thanks to his guidance and support.
I’d also like to thank the fitness manager Mikey Smith as well as the team member Sav Paschalis who gave me the tour for being so kind and helpful and made me feel comfortable from the start.
The spa area very well maintained create perfect place to relax and recover after workouts.
The shakes are great, and the cleaning team do an excellent job keeping everything hygienic and clean.
Highly recommended!

Premium Prices Without a Premium Experience

have been a member of Third Space Battersea for some time and unfortunately the experience has declined significantly.

The main issue is overcrowding. For the number of members using the club, there are simply too few machines available for several exercises, which means the gym floor is constantly congested and it is often impossible to complete a proper workout without waiting excessively or giving up entirely. This should not happen at this price point.

The atmosphere around the gym floor has also become increasingly unpleasant. On more than one occasion I witnessed members becoming aggressive over access to machines, including heated arguments that made the environment feel uncomfortable and unsafe.

Another disappointing aspect is the attitude of some instructors, particularly in cycling/spinning classes. Rather than creating a welcoming environment, some come across as dismissive or openly unfriendly, which is surprising for a premium wellness club.

The reception experience is also inconsistent with the luxury image Third Space promotes. Unlike other locations, staff at Battersea often appear disengaged and rarely acknowledge members with even a basic greeting or smile, creating a cold atmosphere from the moment you enter.

In addition, there seems to be an excessive level of monitoring on the gym floor by certain instructors, to the point that it can feel uncomfortable rather than supportive.

Even the recovery spaces no longer feel relaxing due to the constant interruptions and overcrowding.

The club itself is beautifully designed, but the overall experience no longer reflects the premium standard or member experience that Third Space used to offer. For these reasons, I have stopped using this location and now prefer other clubs

Not a luxury level and misleading

Gym and facilities are in good condition, but I wouldn’t call it a luxury gym due to the amount of members they have accepted at the same time. At certain times gym is overcrowded and you have to wait for certain machines or spots to be available (which is the feeling of a cheaper brand gym) and classes are always getting also too overcrowded to the point that sometimes there is no proper space to even position yourself in the class with your dumbbells etc… so many times I had to train by the exit door which is again not good enough for a luxury gym. On the top of that be carefully with their T&Cs on the leaving notice. They tell you “full calendar month” for a notice, but it turns out they are misleading you by not mentioning very clearly that the calendar month only starts from the 1st of each month, meaning if you’ve given the notice on the 2nd of any given month then you will have to wait for 2 months to leave the membership. This is a very cheap tricky approach which I didn’t appreciate. Supposedly there are so many people waiting to become members so I don’t understand the need to be working with this misleading approach. It’s not about the money, but all about the approach they have! So the shell of the business is trying to be luxury, but the soul of it is a cheap and misleading!

Rylan Beech is a real credit to Third Space

I had a learn to lift session with Rylan today. He was exceptional. He didn't just show me what to do, he explained the movements, where injuries occur and adapted techniques for me. He was going back to basics but, of course, doing the basics correctly is imperative. I'd recommend Rylan without hesitation.

Poor communication over membership price increase

I was a member of Third Space for almost two years and, unfortunately, my experience towards the end has been disappointing.

My Founder membership was increased from £190 to £230 per month, but the communication around this was extremely poor. There were no notifications in the app, no signage in the gym, and no visible communication to members. I was told an email had been sent, but I never received it — the first I knew about the increase was when my direct debit had already been changed.

When I contacted the club to explain that I hadn’t received any communication about such a significant price increase, I was simply told that an email had been issued. Despite having the ability to see whether members had opened the email, they refused to refund the £40 increase for the two months while I was disputing it. For a supposedly premium gym, this felt inflexible and not particularly customer-focused.

It’s especially disappointing because the club started out feeling genuinely elite. However, over time the experience has declined. The gym is now extremely overcrowded during peak hours (around 6:30–8:00am and 4–7pm on weekdays), which makes it difficult to enjoy the facilities you’re paying a premium for.

Standards also seem to have slipped in smaller ways - even the protein shakes feel noticeably more 'watered' down than they used to. (An employee confirmed that this is because they have quietly reduced the amount of protein and other fruit ingredients that they use in shakes!)

Overall, what began as a great experience no longer feels worth the price point. I’ve now cancelled my membership and will be looking elsewhere.

Amazing Experience

Hi! Third Space Battersea is hands down one of the best gyms in London. The staff are incredibly friendly and always go above and beyond, the service is amazing! The equipment is top quality, the facilities are spotless, and the spa area (including pool, sauna, steam room) makes recovery a real treat. There's a wide range of services on offer, and everything feels thoughtfully designed and well-maintained. Highly recommend!

Overall is a great gym

Overall is a great gym. Particularly like strength and cycling classes instructors for professionalism, motivation and friendliness.
Facilities are clean, high quality equipment. Noticed that wet area is closed every now and then for the maintenance, but this is normal to any property. Any questions are resolved, concierge team is helpful and friendly. Recommend, definitely. Despite the higher end price, it is worth it, in my view.

Fantastic gym experience

Great gym with a fantastic location and state of the art equipment. There’s a wide variety of classes to choose from, and the staff are incredibly friendly, helpful, and accommodating—especially Dar. I would highly recommend this gym to others.

Recommended - High quality facilities and an excellent range of classes

I'm really enjoying being a member of Third Space, and specifically the Battersea Club. The facilities are excellent quality, and the range of classes available is great. All the trainers so far have been of a very high standard. The joining process was seamless, thank you Egle for making it a good experience. This is actually my second time as a member of Third Space, after recently returning to London. It's great that they now have more clubs available across London.

Overall loving the experience

Overall loving the experience. I rate the quality of the instructors (PT/ classes) and they have really helped me with my personal goals over the past 12mths. I am fortunate that I have only used classes at peak times and the equipment at quieter times and have had no issues. If you can only use equipment at peak then I have seen it busy- but so has been my experience at other gyms- you need to judge for yourself. I have read some of the other reviews and can only talk to my experience- any billing queries have been dealt with quickly and professionally. I recommend.

Sadly lost their way…diminishing benefits and HUGE prices rises.

I’m sadly having to edit my review. Although the staff and instructors remain brilliant, the Third Space leadership team have now shown their real colours. What was once value for money - given the service and amenities, has now been eroded due to a 20% rise in membership fees, overcrowding, poor maintenance (banks of hairdryers and straighteners being out of action for months add to queues to get ready), lack of privacy in the spa area, sewage issues at Clapham, bad odours in the steam room etc…). The price rise far exceeds the 7-10% incremental rise we were sold at sign up and management refuse to engage in justifying both the disparity in what was agreed to and the tangible benefits this increased price is giving its members. We are simply being gouged to pay for new clubs being built. This unfortunate shift in club ethos is compounded by the fact that the price rise was communicated via an unmanned mailbox - despite it allowing reply emails to be sent to it (hello@). Any members who responded to this email were, and will be ignored. Seemingly so that leadership will not have to deal with questions or complaints surrounding the huge increase. A telling move.
I’m now having to reconsider my membership. At this price point you could join a great members club and a top tier gym and still have change leftover. So it’s very hard to justify and the treatment of founding members, (and all members actually), has really jammed a nail in the coffin.
