Great experience, wonderful and friendly staff
I had a fantastic experience with the Southampton U Van Drive and would highly recommend them. The whole team was friendly, professional and incredibly helpful from start to finish.
Kayleigh was absolutely lovely and provided excellent customer service. She was welcoming, understanding and made the whole process smooth for me.
I was running late both when picking up and returning the van, but I called ahead to let them know and the team were very accommodating and understanding. Their flexibility and excellent communication were greatly appreciated.
The van was in great condition and the overall service was top notch. I will definitely be using U Van Drive again in the future and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others.
Thank you to Kayleigh and the rest of the wonderful team for such a positive experience!

I was late collecting the car due to…
I was late collecting the car due to Trafic and they kindly waited for me. Then on drop off, it was flexible and I got a refund (hopefully) as I did not need all the days booked. The car was clean, a bit dented, but all the pics covered the previous damage and was concise. Thank you U Drive Terri

Dangerous driving by a U-Drive highway maintenance truck driver. The vehicle was driving aggressively and recklessly on the road, swerving dangerously. If you see this truck from a distance, it’s best to stay well away for your own safety.

However, we would like to clarify that we are a self‑drive hire company, meaning our vehicles are rented out to customers and are not driven or controlled by our staff during the hire period.
If you witnessed dangerous or reckless driving, we strongly recommend reporting the incident to the police. This allows the appropriate authorities to investigate and take action where necessary.
If you are able to share further details with us directly, we will also review the matter internally in line with our terms of hire.

Van hire for house move
Booking the hire of a van online at short notice via the U-Drive website was easy and straightforward. Email confirmation of the hire was also received very promptly. On pick up of the van staff were friendly, courteous and very efficient. Everything was explained clearly including what to do in the event of a breakdown or accident. Checking the van back in at the end of the hire period was also very smooth and the refund of the deposit was done within the specified time frame with no hassle.
Hire rates were very competitive and the large fleet of vehicles available at the Bristol branch meant there was no problem in getting the exact type of van we needed.
Overall very impressed and would happily use U-Drive again.

The mini bus was easy to drive with…
The mini bus was easy to drive with excellent driver assist features such as reversing cameras and mirror safe to change lane indicators.
Quick and effective staff. Vehicles checked in a systematic way. Full tank on collection was a real bonus.

I was massively impressed with the ease…

Efficient and friendly
Kayleigh was friendly and efficient on collecting and returning the van we hired and so was the assistant who walked us around the van on the day of collection (Friday) at the Southampton branch. Very impressed!

Hired a van from the Southampton branch…
Hired a van from the Southampton branch on Saturday to help my daughter move house. Great service from Kayleigh, she couldn't have been more helpful. Have used U-Drive several times before and will use again if I ever need to hire a van in the future.

Arrived for a collection of a van for hire with driving licence, personal details etc on Friday morning 20/3/2026. The service was so smooth with the process and Professionalism from the Gentleman we dealt with (TY) he was very good with all the information he gave us explained all the questions we asked absolutely 5*+Thankyou Ty from both of us your warm feeling smile and professional way you dealt with us, is that we will definitely use U drive again and pass on this company to our friends with your name absolutely great service..and returne the vehicle and received a email saying the vehicle was returned back acceptable.following morning.can’t beat great service communication Thsnks again U Drive &Ty 5*+

Sharks
I paid my £100 deposit, but only received £70 back. I was told that "scratches" had appeared on the vehicle in the 3 hours that I had it. They hadn't. I sent them 2 emails 7 days apart and they didn't have the courtesy to reply to either of them. I have subsequently discovered that I am not alone in falling foul of this sharp practice. They need to learn that ripping their customers off is not a good business model.

For clarification, our customer service team have contacted yourself with our response email (originally sent to yourself on March 11th), explaining the reason for your retained deposit. It is possible that this message may have been filtered into your junk folder and therefore missed.
We sincerely apologise for any misunderstanding. To confirm, your deposit was not retained due to damage, but due to a fuel discrepancy. This is in line with our like for like fuel policy, which is clearly displayed in our branch and communicated at the time of vehicle collection.

Came through when others cancelled!
Had two different rental companies cancel my van the week and day of house move, U-drive went above and beyond to get a van ready for me with less than an hour's notice.
Achia was brilliant, explained everything I needed and got me on the road as quickly as possible!
