Usenet.nl place ads all over the web offering free downloads of media, (music, movies, books etc), a lot of which they don't actually have available!

They offer an alleged 14 Day Free Trial which means you have to give them either your Card details or PayPal account. Although they make it appear you can cancel any time within the 14 Day Trial* but in the Contract you have just signed up to they insist on minimum NOTICE PERIODS which mean it is IMPOSSIBLE to actually cancel before the trial ends, meaning you technically owe them for at least 1 year's subscription!

*It is also EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to actually cancel in the first place, (in the SMALL PRINT it warns that their email address is NOT MONITORED so a lot of people send an email saying they want to cancel, which they can say they warned you wouldn't be read & therefore isn't a legitimate cancellation!

Buried in the sign-up email is a link to their 'support' form. You can fill this in but you have no real proof you've sent it, or when. Chances are they'll say they haven't received your cancellation & use that as an excuse for taking your money!

Also, in the contract is stipulates that NO REFUNDS will be given & they use this to prevent your Bank's chargeback, (if you gave them your card details - and God help you if you did, because your bank won't), & also to win a PayPal case against you if you try to claim the payment is unauthorised, (by signing up for the free trial you have inadvertently 'agreed' to their T&C)!

If you've used PayPal to sign up you can go into your pre-approved payments section & cancel the authority for usenet.nl to take payment, (so they can't take money), but be warned this is likely to cause problems with your PayPal account, & potentially the card that funds it, (as usenet.nl will report your account/card for fraudulent use so you may find PayPal freeze your account & your bank card gets cancelled)!

So, you've cancelled the payment & they haven't been able to take your money, you may get a few unpleasant emails which you ignore thinking that's the end of it; it isn't and things may well get worse from there!

They have all your contact details & home address, which they pass to a debt collection agency, & add fees on top of what they say you already owe them!

The best way to avoid losing money & being effectively scammed by usenet.nl is NOT TO SIGN UP in the first place!

However, if you have then here are some tips to FIGHT BACK!

1) Make every effort to get in touch, by as many methods as possible;
a) send them an email to info - at - usenet.nl (even though they say they do not read them): make sure you add all of your details & be clear it is a 'notice of cancellation', (they have a 'model' cancellation form link - copy the text & add your details.
b) copy the text from your cancellation email (that they'll ignore) and paste it into a support form, (from the link in the email): take a screenshot of the completed form BEFORE you send it & then take another of the confirmation that comes up on the screen once you have sent it.
c) Phone them (UK victims) 0203 670 5870. Their Office times are Mon – Fri: 10am - 8pm (CET). BEFORE you do this, make sure you have a call recorder app on your phone & that it's active, (there are plenty of free ones in the app store - once you've installed it make a quick call elsewhere to test its set up & working), then record the call! Tell them you want to cancel and don't take no for an answer.

However, unless they voluntarily agree (unlikely - as that's the main way they scam you out of your money) to waive the contract terms you've already signed up to, (i.e. not apply the notice period that applies from the time you tell them you want to cancel to the time they actually process it - which will be then into the paid period, so technically you will owe them the money as part of the contract), they may well still charge you anyway!

If they do agree to cancel when/if you manage to speak to them, make sure you get them to verbally confirm you will not be charged, (which you will then have a recording of in case they later charge you anyway)! Also ask for a confirmation email stating the contract has been cancelled within the free trial period.

If you haven't received a confirmation email within a few hours, call them again, (& again if need be), BE POLITE, (remember they're more likely to ignore you & cause problems if you annoy them - no matter how tempting it is to shout or swear; DON'T)!

You could say something like "someone else used my phone/computer and signed up using my details which were pre-saved in the browser, (auto form-filler), and used my PayPal account without my permission as the password was also stored in the browser", but if you do ever end up in Court you could come unstuck!

Be aware they are registered in San Marino OUTSIDE the EU, (and therefore technically under the laws of that country)!

Je suis arrivé chez eux en cherchant un disque bien précis me proposant le lien pour le télécharger.
Une fois inscrit sur la plateforme, aucune trace du fichier promis.
J'essaye de me désabonner pour éviter de laisser passer les 15 jours d'"essai", je n'y parviens pas.
15 jours plus tard ils me prélèvent 99.96 € via PAYPAL et impossible de me faire rembourser (ni par Paypal ni par usenet.nl).
Je tente une nouvelle fois de me désabonner, via formulaire et par téléphone (anglais +44) rien n’y fait.
Je reçois un mail m’indiquant que la somme reste due et l’abonnement actif. (1an)
Par pitié passez votre chemin, ne mettez pas le doigt dans cet engrenage.

Hi, it seems that it's not just me who has been cheated by usenet. On 18/11 2020 I registered there. But there was nothing for me on their site so I unregistered the same day. But today they withdrew 99 Euro from my account without my permission. So now I have contacted paypal to resolve the dispute. See how it will go if I get my money back. Beware of usenet.nl. They are a scam.

usenet.nl, comme bien d'autres l'ont signalé, est un site arnaque. J'y suis arrivé en cherchant un enregistrement bien précis et le lien pour soi-disant le télécharger m'a mené chez eux. Cela va sans dire qu'une fois inscrit je n'ai pas trouvé le fichier promis. Par curiosité j'aimerais savoir comment marche ce type d'arnaque qui fait miroiter exactement l'article qu'on cherche pour accrocher le gogo (dont visiblement je suis).
Si vous voulez un bon et honnête fournisseur d'accès à usenet ils existent ; je recommende eweka.

c'est de l'escroquerie. j'ai contracté un abonnement pour un essai gratuit de 14 jours le 26.08.2020 le même jour je résilie le contrat.
je reçois la confirmation de ma résiliation deux jours après et me remboursent le montant payé sur mon compte paypal. jusque là tout est ok.
le fait est que le 04 novembre 2020 je reçois un courrier de la part d'une entreprise de recouvrement atriga établie en Allemagne datée du 02.novembre 2020 en me réclamant un montant de 175,31 euros.
je les ai appelé tout fâché en leur expliquant que j'avais résilié mon compte, ils m'informent dans un français très approximatif que je dois leur envoyer un mail. Ce que je fais immédiatement avec les preuves des courriels et la preuve de remboursement de la part de usenet sur mon compte paypal.
je trouve ce comportement inadmissible de leur part.
De plus il faut communiquer avec eux en anglais où en allemand et malheureusement je ne parle aucune de ces deux langues.

Ich hatte mich für die 14 tägige Testphase angemeldet, habe dann aber nicht das Produkt gefunden was ich eigentlich runterladen wollte. Habe dann über die Usenet Webseite am gleichen Tag gekündigt. Mir wurde auf der Webseite mitgeteilt das durch die Kündigung der Zugang gelöscht würde und ich auch nicht die restlichen Testphasentage nutzen könnte. 2 Wochen später bekam ich eine Email mit der Rechnung des Jahresabos über eine Betrag von 99,96 €. Über Kontaktformular bad ich um Überprüfung und habe am nächsten Tag auch angerufen bei der Hotline. Bei der Hotline wurde mir gesagt es wäre keine fristgerechte Kündigung eingegangen ich solle einen Beweis einsenden. Ich sagte da ich über die Webseite gekündigt habe hätte ich keinen Beweis. Da wurde mir gesagt es gäbe gar keine Möglichkeit über die Webseite zu kündigen. Als ich das Gespräch beendet hatte bekam ich eine Email über eine Kündigungsbestätigung für nach einem Jahr. Als ich mich mit einem neuen Passwort, da ich mit meinen Daten nicht mehr anmelden konnte die ich mir bei der Registrierung eingerichtet hatte, eingeloggt habe fand ich die Möglichkeit auf der Webseite zu kündigen nicht mehr. Vermute das dadurch das Usenet die Kündigung für nächstes Jahr schon durchgeführt haben, das dadurch die Kündigungsöglichkeit automatisch ausgeblendet wird. Für mich reinste Abzocke und Betrug nach dem Jahr werde ich Usenet nie wieder benutzen und kann jedem nur von Usenet abraten.

Je me suis inscrite sur usenet et j'ai envoyé un e-mail pour annuler l'essai gratuit. Mais ils ont gardés ma carte de crédit et ont essayé de prélever de l'argent dessus à plusieurs reprises ! Ce sont des ESCROCS ! Ils ont dit qu'ils ont bien reçu mon email mais que mon compte sera bloqué et qu'ils attendent mon paiement de la sommes qu'ils disent que je leur doit ! ils m'ont envoyé ce matin un e-mail de menaces de poursuites ! FUYEZ, ne tombez pas dans le panneau !

They are Thieves. Preying on the unsuspecting. I feel for it and was shocked to have my PayPal charged! I didn't give up. writing to usenet is useless. as soon as u sign up u can't login. u don't know if u have successfully registered or no since they send no confirmation and u are not able to login. happened with me. I however, opened a case with PayPal that I haven't received what was promised and about how they scam people. finally got the money refunded. DONOT let them get away with ur money!!!

I meet this useless website because I click a link to download a pdf book on bojbookdotcom then usenet charge me when I choose free trial and the book did not downloaded.
