When I first decided to start my journey as an independent travel agent, I joined a large, well-advertised host agency that promised the world. Unfortunately, the reality was very different. I quickly began to feel like just another number — a source of income for a large organisation rather than someone whose success genuinely mattered. Support felt limited, everything felt very corporate, and there was very little personal connection or care for the individual agents behind the business.

That all changed when I came across Your Travel Consultant (YTC).

I first noticed Simon, the owner and founder, through his TikTok lives. What immediately stood out was how genuine he was. He wasn’t simply trying to recruit people — he was engaging with them, learning about their stories, their families, their goals, and what they wanted from life. It gives you exactly what you need without drowning you in endless complicated modules. The systems are also fantastic to work with — from the live search engine to the supplier database, everything is accessible, organised, and clearly designed with agents in mind.

I also have to mention the wider team Simon has built around him. Every member of staff I’ve dealt with has been a credit to the company. Friendly, supportive, professional, and genuinely invested in helping agents succeed.

What makes YTC special is that it doesn’t feel like a huge corporate machine. It genuinely feels like a family. There’s warmth, support, encouragement, and a real sense that people care about one another both professionally and personally.
