Terrible Maintenance + No Accountability
One of our two fridges was broken for 22 days. 8 residents shared the only working fridge (for 4 people) with no temporary replacement provided, causing food spoilage and extra costs.
When I claimed compensation, Yugo denied responsibility and falsely stated in writing that a temporary fridge was supplied. I have now submitted a mediation application to the RTB.
No accountability, no basic living standards. Not recommended.
I would say the staff are amazing andâŠ
I would say the staff are amazing and security good, a mix of students both academic and arty, the study area is great, location handy from Bournemouth. Rooms are good as you can have two people sharing or 6. or ensuite one studio room etc. theres a gym and cinema room. There was an issue with water, but they provided water bottles and the rooms are perfect space, but the only problem is feet sounds coming from rooms around, but you can get ear plugs, or play sounds to get past that. Overall I really so far enjoyed the experience. Also its near Asda big shopping place with a macdonalds if you needs it. the bus to uni parked right outside past the church which if your worried about getting a seat its not an issue really.
Fantastic student experience
Fantastic student experience, safe environment and they are all over the world
Lift still not working in Portsmouth
The lift at the Portsmouth Student accommodation site has been out of order since the beginning of December and has still not been fixed. Many promises that it will be fixed soon but nothing is done. When you are on the upper floors and have to lug shopping and equipment it is very tiring. Yugo should be offering compensation to the students for not providing a lift service.
I wish there was a -20
I wish there was a -20. These people are disgrace to student housing. Donât even think about it. They are predatory. They will add fees to your rent for crazy stuff. They keep sending you text messages to renew. They have some flex payment plan which charges you extra money and oh my God if you are trying to get out this lease, they are predators predators. Itâs the worst ever and department suck no water no heat canât sleep. Weed smell in the hallway they donât do anything to maintain the elevator. The elevator was out for the whole week and you have to take stairs. Howâs that work for somebody with the disability? Howâs that work for somebody who has to haul their garbage up eight flights of stairs these people are disgraceful disgusting run run run run run studio housing is a whole lot better any places is better than Greenville North Carolina but Iâm telling you you go is a joke. They got all these LLC companies they hide behind. They donât even have their state licensing for real estate correct they donât have their state licensing documents, correct itâs a joke
Yugo: A Masterclass in Branding Over Substance
Yugo doesnât have a culture problem â it has a leadership crisis. Until the company is willing to hold toxic departments like HR accountable, stabilize its crumbling financial infrastructure, and rebuild trust with both employees and investors, it will continue to lose good people and good faith. No amount of branding can cover up what's rotting beneath the surface. If Yugo wants to survive, it needs more than a rebrand â it needs a reckoning.
HR Director herself spends more time meddling in Operations â where she has no experience and no business â than doing the job she was actually hired to do. Instead of coaching the one employee she manages to adequately run payroll without error, she inserts herself into matters that don't concern her, creating unnecessary tension and confusion. The result is constant payroll delays and operational breakdowns that ripple across the entire company.
And the C-suite? They know. These patterns have been reported repeatedly, and leadership either doesnât care or lacks the backbone to confront it. The fact that this company canât keep a CEO and COO year over year says it all. Senior Leadership is non-exsistent. If you are a low level, under performer with a great interview at your current company, then Yugo is the place you come to launchpad your career to the next level.
Finance: Broken Beyond Repair
The companyâs financial backbone has collapsed. Yugo operates under an accrual-based system that requires tight, strategic coordination â yet the entire finance department is in a perpetual state of turnover. From SVPs to property accountants, no one stays. Why? Because the system is dysfunctional, under-supported, and riddled with internal chaos.
The impact is catastrophic: budgeting is a guessing game, accounts are mismanaged, vendors go unpaid, and sites are left with no financial clarity. This instability erodes trust with stakeholders, cripples operations, and exposes how little control Yugo actually has over its financial foundation.
Morgan Stanley: A Crumbling Partnership
Yugoâs investor relationship with Morgan Stanley is deteriorating â and for good reason. Financial mismanagement, rampant turnover, and toxic internal politics have destroyed any sense of accountability or strategic direction. Itâs become clear that Yugo lacks the operational maturity to steward long-term investments responsibly. If Morgan Stanley is still watching, theyâd be wise to reassess the viability of this partnership before the brand implodes completely.
Bottom Line:
Yugo is not a company in transition â itâs a company in freefall. No amount of slick marketing can cover up the chaos that defines its culture, finances, and leadership. The HR department is unchecked and dangerous, the Finance team is crumbling, and the relationship with Morgan Stanley is hanging by a thread. This is not mismanagement â itâs malpractice. And the silence from the C-suite isnât neutrality â itâs complicity. If real leadership doesnât step in soon, there wonât be anything left to salvage.
this place is an absolute disgrace
this place is an absolute disgrace. i waited an hour and 15 mins to even get signed into my room then had to walk through the rain and took me ages to then find my room bc the code they gave us to get to the room was too confusing. i am extremely disappointed with my stay and will not be staying here again

Was asked for a phone interview with 30 minutes notice missed that email and spent 2 whole weeks trying to contact anyone from the company, the person that originally asked for the phone interview doesn't respond to emails and if they do they do follow up on any plans that are made. Tried to call the number thats attached to their email signature and kept going to voice mail.
I stayed in Yugo Saint crispins NR3 1PDâŠ
I stayed in Yugo Saint crispins NR3 1PD and i must say it is not one of my best experience. The one year was a torture and i was always looking forward to the last day of my contract for a breathe of fresh air again.
The maintenance culture is very poor, we even pay for parking as a student for a room of more than £210 per week. The contract is strict and you cannot even adjust or change anything once you sign.
Overall, i honesty will not recommend
Read T&C (especially small print)
just nowNew-Edit Delete
Very nice accommodation (Yugo St. Crispin's House - Norwich Student Accommodation), welcoming management âuntil you make a deposit.
Strong advice: Please read the terms and conditions thoroughly before signing the contract. Be aware that the 2-week cooling-off period does not begin when you sign documents, but from the time the deposit is paid. There is absolutely no flexibility, even for minor changes, e.g., adjusting the contract length (e.g., from 44 weeks to 40 weeks), even if you are only 2 days past the cooling-off period. Very corporate and impersonal approach, like in a supermarket (the exact analogy term used by the property manager when responded to our request).
Yugo, you are dealing with students, who are still literally kids, donât be that greedy, have a heart! Don't expect them to understand a "20-page T&C document" in small print, which even UEA accommodation services found confusing when we asked them for help. We didnât ask for muchânot a refund, not a cancellation, but simply to change the contract and a room type that "suddenly" became available (along with 10!!! other rooms) in about 2 week time, despite informing us during our property visit that no shorter-term rooms were expected to become available. While youâve made a profit from these 4 weeks, youâve lost a customer. We wonât be extending our stay for the remaining 3 years of study and will seek accommodation elsewhere.
Don't Rent from Yugo!
The move in was a mess (August 2023). The apartment was dirty. Couch was dirty and never had been cleaned. Mold in bathroom. I called for service and no one called back or showed up. They were too busy. I live 1000 miles away so I helped her cleaned the apartment. My daughter put in work order for mold in bathroom and they came out and just painted over it. My daughter had a cough all winter. When washer and dryer broke it took them two weeks to come out and repair. And now they want to charge us $200 for paint and drywall repair upon moving out. My daughter did nothing but hang some photos on the wall. Nothing in there was new. It's normal wear and tear. And they refuse to work with me on these charges. My daughter said a lot of her friends in building received similar charges. When I sited back to the move in weekend and lack of help from staff they stated that none of that staff is employed with them any longer so they can't speak to what happened. I think Yugo takes advantage of these college students. I do not recommend living in Yugo building.
recently had a disappointing experienceâŠ
recently had a disappointing experience at Bramal Court Sheffield , and I feel compelled to share my concerns. I secured a room through a listing on SpareRoom, where I was assured by the tenant and her friend Logan (who works at reception) that I was eligible to live in student accommodation as a working professional. Logan confirmed that everything was in order, and based on his assurance, I paid the first installment and moved in.
However, shortly after arriving, I was informed by another tenant that the accommodation is strictly for students. This was contrary to what Logan at reception had told me. When I approached him to clarify the situation, he advised me to find a replacement tenant and cancel my agreement via email. Despite following his instructions, he later informed me that the tenancy takeover couldn't be processed due to a supposed timing issue, which was inaccurate according to their own policies.
Logan's misleading information from the very beginning caused me significant stress and financial loss. I trusted the reception staff to provide accurate details, but instead, I ended up in a situation that could have been avoided with proper communication and management.
If you are considering this accommodation, be very cautious and double-check everything, especially if you are not a student. The management needs to ensure that their staff, like Logan, provide accurate information to prevent others from facing similar issues.
Columbia
Columbia, SC Yugo Lofts...I am shocked. We saw a model unit and when we asked to see an actual unit we were refused. There is no comparison. Lol Right now my kid just moved in. Not sure they actually think they need to clean or repair things because young 18 and 19 year olds may be unlikely to complain or ask for help. Of course I raised concerns. Safety and proper living conditions according to the SC law are important to be maintained at the minimum, but I am so sad to see such disrepair with this beautiful historical building. Some really neat features. It must be so overwhelming and discouraging for the staff to be given so little to work with. It would not take much to remain an affordable student housing but yet also basically maintained, if just the very basic level? Maybe the management company is just started tending to it and needs time? The staff did asked maintenance to come in and they got the AC going (still falling apart with cardboad and duct tape flowing from unit but at least it wasnt 89 degrees in there any longer), repaired the stove, replaced the garbage disposal and we were then able to use the dishwasher which was in good shape likewise the fridge was in good shape. I think they also reworked the inside of the toilet and probs replaced the boarding there directly under it. They did send house keeping in probably because I mentioned the used condom in crawl space, spent ammunition shells and vomit (we discovered in the drawers and on the wall) and what looks to be diarrhea in the hot water crawl space and weird icky black pile under the sink (I just asked them to clean the kitchen and bathroom (bless them, there is hardly a way to properly clean (paint chips falling from ceilings and walls, holes and broken doors, cabinets are full of rotting boards etc. The appartment was not cleaned before move in and I imagine the previous kids actually didnt spend much time in the kitchen because the floor and cabinets were a disaster but the inside of the fridge and oven were not...probs to cook on the top because the liners were changed and our guy got the eyes fitted correctly for use...dishwasher was in good shape...nothing is finished and outlets and switches are randomely painted over while other places have no paint ...we were told to note any damage or we would be charge for it. I will be ashamed when she moves out and the next tenant thinks she left all the horrible damage in every corner of the apartment. It would be easier and maybe more uplifting to note what is NOT damaged. We took a couple hours of photos and videos per the requirements and to protect ourselves. It is just amazing to me. They get an extra star because staff helped best they could and I have hope my kid's stay might be a good one. When it is time. I would like to leave the community a little better than we found it. Right now I am overwhelmed how we could exactly do that. There is just so much, but I have some little ideas. I think move in is probably your best chance to get help, so communication now is important. It is difficult to get text, email or phone assistance. I feel we got lucky with the care we had. It might be difficult for me to help add my own maintenance to the apartment without responsive communication from them.
Believe every awful thing you have heard
Believe every awful thing you have heard
For reference, I am staying at Catherine House.
My stay started with me entering the room I had rented to find clear signs that they had not properly checked the room. A used pillow from a previous resident remained on my bed, every surface which wasnt directly reachable was caked with dust and there are scuff marks all over the walls in every direction.
Then, approximately one week into my stay, maintenance staff entered my room whilst I was unclothed, without knocking or receiving an okay from me and without providing the required notice which Yugo themselves state in their tenancy agreement.
Moving on another week, whilst I was asleep, my mirror which was poorly affixed to the wall fell down and shattered. For this mistake which Yugo made in affixing the mirror, I was charged 54 pounds which honestly, I expected considering how useless any form of communication was with anybody at this building.
From here, I hoped the bull***t had ended, and that I could at least ride out the rest of my short stay without another major issue and write a review as I left so others dont consider staying here. However, just this morning, once again another different maintenance staff member entered my flat without knocking or providing any prior notice.
As I stated earlier, all of the staff I have spoken to on site have been unable to help in any capacity with any of these grievances and I cannot think of a single net positive interaction. I was even questioned when picking up a parcel I had ordered because I have had a legal name change which wasnt reflected on my passport yet, which they were made aware of before I ever checked in.
This is a horrendous company, dont even consider for one second staying here.
Worst company ever to rent from.
The company do NOT stop flatmates smoking cigarettes or drugs in the flats despite complaints to Yugo. A flatmate has a pet, and again Yugo say they won't do anything about it. The fridge has been broken for at least 3 weeks, and despite reports via the app and in person at Reception, nothing has been done. The handles for the cooker were lying on the floor when we moved in, and are still on the floor. The sofa is broken, and nothing is being done to replace it.
Everything sucked
Everything sucked! They charge way too much and the heating in my room did not work the whole year I lived there. I repeatedly reported it, they knew something was wrong with it, yet it was never properly fixed. In the end, I just gave up reporting things. It was so uncomfortable. There are so many things that I could list, the endless fire alarms, the paper thin walls, the tiny kitchen for eight people to share, and so on. The front office repeatedly emailed us about useless things and about inspections of various things the day before or the day of the inspection or two days before and then no one showed up. Which sucked because I did not like random people in my room. They changed the two other house in a hotel for the summer and locked the main entrance and the big laundry room that they said would still be open for us. And the trash bins were left multiple times, for days by the front gate and it smelled disgusting.
Would not recommend!
Myself, my Partner and 2 sons stayed in the Yugo Amnis house in Cork for 2 days, never again. When we arrived the room my partner and i were being put in absolute stunk of cigarette smoke and the room was not clean. The dust was thick everywhere, there was hair, food particles among other things on the floor. Everytime we had showers and walked across the floor our feet were full of dust etc..it was gross. The bed was not comfortable and when we put back the duvet we had to brush bit off the sheet on the mattress. One of the boys has asthma, so apart from unclean rooms being unhygienic, it is also bad for health reasons. The room the boys were being put in wasnât even cleaned from the last people staying in it. We all had to be put into 2 other rooms, again they were not clean. Whoever cleans those rooms needs to be shown how to use a hoover or they need to be replaced. Only positive thing i have to say is the staff were lovely and very helpful, other then that there is nothing positive about our stay there.
Abysmal
The door with key access to the building is open since it's broken and we got robbed on our move out day and no one helped us :) We tried to get CCTV or have someone check who use their electronic key card to open our door but they refused to help so we had to go to the police station.
The toilet broke once a month, the shower leaks water into the living area causing floods and again no one does anything about that even though we asked about for help every day.
Noises at night from neighbours, some ventilator making noise all night. Good luck having a good nights sleep here.
