My wife and I paid Zippy Shell for a long distance move from NJ to NC in May. The experience with the customer service team and management were all horrific to say the least. We were told on the phone by Dio that we would NOT be charged for a storage fee if we had our pods delivered within the first 30 days, our receipt says NO STORAGE â DELIVER ASAP and they still charged us $438 for storage of 2 pods on the day they loaded our things. When we called to ask them to reverse it and to check the voice recorded call, they gave us the run around again saying they didnât hear anything on the call and that they couldnât share the recording with us. It took 17 days from day of load to the day of delivery â 17 days not 30! Not over 30, not at 30 â nowhere even near 30.
Dio rushed my wife off the phone while we were planning the move saying if we didnât book then and there that we would lose the special price and that he had to run to get his next Covid shot or he would be late. All in the same call that he said we would NOT be charged a storage fee. When asked about that conversation in the call, they said they didnât hear that either. DID WE MAKE THAT UP TOO? When we asked for a manager â we didnât a call back until 2 days later at 10pm at night. The âmanagerâ was rude and hasty on the phone and said there is nothing he could do for us we âsigned a contractâ. The contract says nothing about being charged prior to 30 days and on the receipt it says NO STORAGE in clear English. Not only that, but they damaged our items!
We paid for the loading team and the team that loaded one of our pods loaded it incorrectly and we had multiple damage to expensive furniture. We supplied them with multiple moving blankets, tarps, towels, and cardboard as to not damage anything and they never used any of it. We also supplied them with bungee cords and ratchet straps which were never touched. Our fireplace was manhandled and not covered with the blankets supplied, our bedroom furniture is all scratched up, there is a rip and a giant oil stain on our couch â oil stain?! From where the pod that was above us? They loaded a metal spiked outdoor tool on top of my ironing board cover and ripped it to shreds. We paid an extra $1000 for them to load our things to have them break, scratch and dented? Our mattress was dirty and disgusting because they literally wrapped our pod in $.99 black wrap from the dollar store. Our pod wasnât even wrapped correctly. I have photos of everything. I emailed a claim form to the claims department and never received an email saying they received the paperwork. What kind of customer service/experience is this?
The unloading team in NC were sweethearts â they were respectful, kind and unloaded very quickly. Our unloaders were the only good thing about Zippy Shell.
I read your response and the order was under my wifeâs name. I called countless times and nobody helps. I just emailed you and got an automatic reply. You can reach me from my contact information in that email. Thank you.

Garbage company and garbage experience. The price gouging and hidden fees they charge are insane, and I'm surprised they keep getting away with it. If you are thinking of using any company, choose any other company.

I've very disappointed in Zippy Shell corporate. After taking the full 14 days to move 1 container from Florida to Ohio now I'm waiting 4 days for Zippy Shell Columbus to drop the container to my home in Westerville. This moving performance is unacceptable and the corporate customer service was very little help. No shipment status information. Never again.

Zippy Shell ããã®åç
Well this is a disaster.
So I ordered 2 shells from zippy for transport from Seattle to Scottsboro AL. The initial conversation with the lady on the phone was nice and friendly. We sorted out moving dates on March 15 for a move at the end of May. 2.5 months ahead of time, should have been enough time to get everything organized for a smooth moving experience.
I was wrong.
So I was expecting the move to occur last week. On Wednesday and Thursday, one shell each day. Instead, Richard calls me and tells me that it will need to be rescheduled for 1 day on Saturday. I try to ask why this was occurring, I scheduled 2 and a half months ago. He replies, it in your contact we can change dates at any time.
Well Thursday rolls around and Richard calls again and says he can't get the shells to be delivered, so we needed do a loose load. Where the movers would load up a box truck and drive an hour and a half to seattle unload it, come back and reload the box truck again.
Well the movers show up on Saturday as expected load up the truck and drive to Seattle. Then proceed to be gone for over 6 hours. When they return, they tell me they have to unload some of my stuff back into the house because they can't make the second trip.
I then asked for my key to my shell. They say Richard has it and he was suppose to call me. No one called me, I dont know where the key is and half my stuff is still at my house. I have no idea when they are going to schedule my stuff to be picked back up.
This morning I had to wake up super early to move everything off the carpet because the carpet is being replaced. Zippy she'll is just causing me time and money. I don't think any saving you will get will be worth the hassle.
The saga continues update June 1.
So it's been a week since my promise move date and here I am with half my stuff moved and the other still at the house. After having no one contact about the rest of my stuff, I called Tuesday morning.
I got ahold of an operator that said they would call me back in an hour or two. I patiently waited for an update. 5PM rolled around and still no call back. So I called them back. I was transferred to a supervisor almost immediately and he said he would be working on it personally. I asked him to make sure and update me today. So far I have heard nothing back from the company.

We used them for a large home move over 1000 miles. They did not secure / lock our belongings and then unloaded the cages into a separate delivery truck. They stole many of our belongings due to the negligence of Zippy Shell not locking the cages. there was a great deal of damage but they want you to sign a non-disclosure in order to receive payment, which is not ethical. We would never use them or recommend them to anyone.

Zippy Shell ããã®åç
ZippyShell provided terrible service. They quoted me for 1 shell. When I said I'd like to be quoted for 2 shells, they insisted that 1 would be enough. On the day of our long-distance move, the movers crammed our shell full of our belongings (in a manner that will certainly result in damaged items upon unpacking). At the end, there will still a number of items that would not fit into the shell. I asked what my options were and was told that was "my problem" and they drove off with my things.
When I called ZippyShell and informed them of my issue, they said they could send another shell at full price without movers, but it would take 9 days. I had to be out of my apartment that day. They then offered a second solution for me to pack up my items into a rented van and drive them to a facility to pack them myself. It was the only option I had, so I took it. Not until I already packed the van did ZippyShell tell me it would potentially be 2 days before I could go to the facility and drop off my things. Two Days?!
I spent the night in a hotel near the facility and awaited a call from ZippyShell, which never came. I had to call them 5 times and was told they "could not yet confirm a drop-off date and time." I finally asked if they were even connecting with the facility and they admitted that no one had answered. So they weren't 'confirming'... they were stalling! I asked for the address and drove to the facility myself. Once there, I was quickly offered a shell and packed it with my remaining items in less than 15 minutes.
Now, I'm being price gouged by ZippyShell for a second shell that they insisted I didn't need. All while having to rent a van, stay in a hotel, and pack the shell without assistance.
They're still "considering my request" for a reduced price based on their mistake(s) throughout this process, but have said it is unlikely.
This company is NOT transparent. Their communications are poor. And they're mistreating people during a time of need. I'm extremely disappointed and will NOT recommend them to anyone planning a long-distance move. Terrible service.

Where do I even begin? I guess with this: DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE THIS COMPANY.
Zippy Shell wasnât able to provide me an online quote, so I called on 3/23/22 to book a move beginning 4/25/22 from PA to TX. The person I spoke with was very kind & helpful. He thoroughly broke out the costs, timelines, sizes of the container, etc. I was given a specific price, told most deliveries happen within 5-7 days of pick up & was assured that the shell I chose could fit a 2-3 bedroom apartment. I signed the agreement & that is where this hellish saga begins.
Unlike other reviews, the shell was delivered on time, however it was MUCH smaller than advertised. Iâm not sure what kind of 2-3 bedroom apartment could fit in there, but my 2 BR (where one bedroom was used for an office, no large furniture) did not fit easily.
The loading company managed to fit most in & the shell was picked up on time (4/27/22). I proceeded with my move, drove from PA to TX & called Zippy Shell about a week after pick up to figure out where my belongings were to help me plan some appointments. The first person I spoke with said my goods were in transit, but when I pressed for where along the transit route, they were unable to give me any specifics. The CSR doubled-down on their refusal to help, so I hung up & called back to get another rep. This happened two more times, with the third rep finally revealing that my shell was still in PA, despite me telling the original sales person that I did not want any storage. My agreement even noted it was for immediate delivery. This is where I began to lose my mind.
I remembered taking a photo of the shell when it was delivered & there was a local PA number, so I called & verified they were local, not the corporate group. When I told the woman my name (itâs kind of unique), she said âOh yeah, your pod is definitely here. I just saw it yesterday.â She looked up a few things & confirmed it hadnât even been scheduled for pickup yet. This was a full week after the shell was picked up from my home. The woman took down all my information & assured me that it would get routed to the person responsible for scheduling everything. She also noted that the scheduler typically calls a person back within an hour when itâs marked expedited.
When that call-back never came, I wasnât surprised at all. I was, however, beginning to get enraged. Every single person at the corporate call center told me my shell was in transit when it had never even departed for its destination. I waited 3 additional days before calling the local person in PA again, at which time she informed me that my shell was scheduled for pickup 5/10/22. For those keeping track at home, that was nearly 2 weeks after they claimed it would begin moving toward TX.
Once the shell arrived in TX on 5/13/22, I immediately called to schedule the delivery which included unloaders. They arrived this morning (5/16/22) WITH AN EMPTY SHELL thinking they were scheduled for a load-in. At this point, a mistake is par for the course on this whole experience, so I didnât get upset when they told me it only took about half hour to get to my home. No problem that in about an hour, they would return with my shell. Two hours later, I began making calls to figure out what their time frame was. While on the phone with yet another third party that Zippy Shell brings into this existing logistical nightmare, the movers finally showed up.
As the nice little icing on this cake made of excrement, the movers proceeded to damage not one, but MULTIPLE items while right in front of me. A nightstand fell flat onto cement out front off of a dolly, multiple other pieces were banged into walls inside, the siding outside & really any other obstacle possible. A dresser foot was ripped off completely as they set it down and when they didnât have screws to fix it, they assured me their supervisor would reach out to me, but left before I could verify the number they gave was even right.
After all of this hell, I contacted multiple people involved in the process. The third party responsible for booking the movers told me to contact Zippy Shell for a claim. Calling Zippy Shell got me a PDF form that I have to fill out and send back. But something tells me, I wonât even get a tiny percentage of what my belongings would cost to replace. And that dresser with the foot ripped off is still on its side upstairs as I type this. Whoâs going to fix that and pick it up? I hired movers because physically (and this should come as a shock to no one) I canât pick up a solid wood dresser by myself.
I have never seen a company make so many bad decisions so many times, so consistently. There wasnât a single person I spoke with that did the right thing.. ever.
TL;DR: DO. NOT. EVER. USE. THIS. COMPANY.
5/25 Edit: Their reply says contact them with no way to do so. Their attempts to âfixâ things are halfass at best. AVOID THEM

The Movers who loaded and unloaded our Zippy Shell were fast, careful, and helpful with our furniture and boxes. Everything arrived in great condition.
Sometimes it was a very long wait to talk to a Scheduling Agent and others times I got one on the second ring. This was a bit frustrating.

Excellent service, excellent workers, very courteous, very helpful. I would highly recommend zippyshell for your out of area move!! They were on time, very helpful and we actually had fun!!

Zippy shell was great. From pick up to storage to delivery. For my cross country move they were very well priced. The guys who delivered my stuff, Leon and Easy E, were very on the ball. They unpacked my pod. And treated my stuff like it was theirs. Thanks guys. If I move again, Zippy Shell will have. My business.

Zippy Shell ããã®åç
Moved from Las Vegas to Pennsylvania. Zippy Shell packed us completely, moved our possessions across the country, and stored them for us while we bought our new home and had it renovated. This entire process took seven months. When we were ready to move into our new home, we simply contacted Zippy Shell here is Pa., arranged a time and date, and moved in. After unpacking virtually everything I was pleased to find that NOTHING was broken or missing. Our experience with Zippy Shell was first rate and, if I were to move again, would not consider using anyone else. In addition, they were much less expensive overall than the national moving companies.
The fact that they were able to store our material for all those months at a rate FAR cheaper than anyone else, and arrange it in advance of our move really sealed the deal.

Zippy Shell ããã®åç
I moved from San Leandro to Chico, Calif in August, 2021. The 2 Gentlemen who packed me up were so very helpful, courteous, and had their job done in 3 hours. 7 Months Later, when it came to unpacking, the 2 Gentlemen who came were just as fabulous, courteous, helpful and totally awesome!! I would use Zippy Shell again in a heartbeat and recommend them very highly. Nothing was broken, damaged or lost. Thank you Zippy for making this move so easy!!

Zippy Shell ããã®åç
From start to end my experience with Zippy Shell was fantastic. I worked directly with David, the owner of the Zippy Shell Columbus, OH franchise, and that was the way to go. He dropped off my shell (to Dayton OH, 1 hour West) himself with ample notice. Pickup after loading was right on time. For a long distance move (1000mi to TX) my shell arrived EARLY to the local arrival warehouse, and in perfect condition to my home. I also used the unloading support option. The team was able to correct an initially wrong scheduling of drop off of my shell to an on time drop off using the 3rd party company College Hunks. Both employees from College Hunks were professional and efficient. I would use Zippy Shell again.

Zippy Shell ããã®åç
What is promised and what they advertise does not happen in reality. So much frustration from the very beginning with Zippy Shell. They do not show up when they say they will, as they totally missed delivery date without any notice, and they picked up a container after 11pm, no notice, no call....and no working lock either, and the container had such a small padlock hole in the door that none of our padlocks worked either. They said they would apply a lock and mail me the keys, which never happened. All their promises about security, locked container, and keeping your possessions safe? Nah, they delivered a container with the door unlatched and hanging open, and no plastic shrink wrap on the door area, none on top of the container, with an externally applied ratchet tie down the delivery company said they had to apply because my belongings were spilling out of the container's open door. The delivery company hired by Zippy Shell took pictures and would not unload until documenting the condition of the items inside, which were covered in rat and mouse poop, dried puddles of rodent urine on top of our tupperware totes and boxes, rodents chewed into boxes and nested inside, there was a black sooty film covering everything inside, dirt and gravel had come in from the top of the unit and filtered down, and our items were jumbled up and not in their boxes but clearly tampered with. We had items missing, boxes missing, items outside of their moving boxes and in piles of damaged and broken things.
The delivery company staff hired by Zippy shell told us none of our items should be brought into the house. The boxes were too dirty to sit on our carpet and with evidence of rodents chewing into boxes and nesting inside meant everything had to be opened and dealt with in the driveway. We took pictures of our clothes, bedding, towels, and my expensive quilting fabrics go straight into the garbage. Some people we arranged to help us move did not feel comfortable with the health hazards of picking through mouse nests trying to salvage items. We had swept out the containers when loading them and had pictures of our clean containers and clean boxes showing the damage happened while in custody of Zippy Shell.
I submitted a very conservative claim and explained my heroic efforts of salvaging items and doing many many loads of laundry and scrubbing away black sooty film from all surfaces and disinfecting all our tupperwares and throwing away many items that were smashed from falling out of the unit or ruined from the rodents. The claim could have been much higher and still have been reasonable due to the extreme damages caused by Zippy Shell.
Zippy Shell apologized but offered an insultingly low claim offer. I am appealing the claim and asking them to negotiate reasonably and in good faith.
It is frustrating to be treated this way when Zippy Shell's own delivery company said how bad this situation is and took pictures themselves to document. I salvaged a lot with tons of time and intensive cleaning, so to receive a compensation offer for a fraction of the replacement cost of unsalvageable items really stings. I'm told there isn't enough documentation.....and here we thought taking pictures of mouse nest ruined items in the garbage bin would prove our claim or at least the testimony of the Zippy Shell hired delivery company would be proof. We were told to throw the items away and not bring anything into the house by the Zippy Shell hired delivery company. Now Zippy shell wants to offer me a fraction of the true replacement cost and ignore altogether that they never locked my container, didn't secure the door latch, didn't wrap it to keep out dirt and debris, allowed a rodent infestation to occur while the container was in their care, and did not live up to their advertisements or the signed moving agreement.
It is all too much to believe.
I get to tell my experience over and over as I entertain a lot and my cookware was damaged falling out of the unit and getting shoved back in, so I have a huge dent in my 10 quart soup pot....that all my guests ask about. I tell them Zippy Shell did that but they won't pay to replace my damaged stock pot, they just want to give me a pittance for cosmetic damage. And I tell each group of guests when I serve my famous chili how my move went with Zippy Shell. And my guests say, "I WILL NEVER USE ZIPPY SHELL!!"
So at least Zippy Shell gets credit for what they have done.
I wish I could get credit for my missing items. Zippy Shell is not offering compensation for them. Not enough proof? It is difficult to show pictures of missing items. Because, you know, they are MISSING.
because of the open container.
That Zippy shell didn't close.
Or lock.
So.....yeah.
If customer service did what they said then the one star would be deserved. But no, not even that.

Zippy Shell ããã®åç
You may think it'll work out for you or that it'll be cheaper. That it "couldn't be that bad". Maybe the person you speak with gives assurances that the poor reviews are not a normal experience (mine did, Dillon) and you may believe them.
You shouldn't. You absolutely should not.
This company is bad. Their practices are in bad faith. Billing is horrible. But worst of all. They do not tell the truth.
We originally ordered one shell, but our stuff was "too heavy". We had to wait a week for a second shell (double the charge, of course) since then, we've never received a call from them. Nothing to schedule a pick up, or drop off. Nothing. When they did come to pick up our shells they only took one, the driver was unaware there were 2 shells. The second shell sat on our street for another 5 days. Even after multiple calls with "supervisors" to share my poor experience and my frustration. Even after being told (at least 5 times in the last 3 weeks) that "some one will reach out to you from our resolution desk"
Nothing. Zero.
No calls. I've had to call each time. And I've had to wait on hold for 20-30-40 minutes each time to get ahold of some poor call center employee who doesn't know whats going on and "needs to put me on a quick hold".
It's bad, guys. Real bad. Like so so bad. I'm laughing at how BAD this company is.
I placed GPS trackers in my pods. If you chose these guys (which you shouldn't) I suggest you do the same. It's the only reason I knew my pods were at the warehouse in NC. I had to call them. Only after I called them did I get a notification (via email) that they were ready to deliver my pods...
BUT it was suddenly almost $2k MORE. They attempted to charge my card (it was declined because I've read the reviews that this is a practice of theirs and I'd set limits)
Luckily, I had asked for a written quote on the outstanding charge (which was provided and was in line with the original quote) yet they are still attempting to charge me an additional $2k. And no, it's not just a BS "fuel surcharge" it's bottom line services, too.
So here we sit. VERY pissed. Very disappointed in myself for not trusting my gut and going with their main competitor. It would have been easier, less stress, and a GOOD DEAL cheaper had I just scheduled it with the company that rhymes with Cods.
Today, Zippy Shell initiated three charges on my card today trying to get whatever they could from me, even though I have two open cases with their escalation teams. Even though I asked them to hold off on charges until we get a resolution. Even though they told me "our billing team will call you in the next 24 hours" that was 3 days ago. They tried one for the full amount, one for $2500 and another for $1500.
DO NOT use this company. It will NOT go well for you. They will hold you hostage until you pay whatever number they think they can get away with.
I've reported this (along with so many others) to the BBB, but it doesn't matter. They will still have taken my sanity over the last month. They will still have screwed over yet another consumer. They will still NOT have delivered on what they committed to when we signed our agreement.
They are a despicable company. And while people within the company may want to do the right thing, they do not have the power or authority to actually do the right thing for anyone.
Do Not Use Zippy Shell.

Zippy Shell ããã®åç
Overall, a good experience. We used Zippy Shell but asked them to have movers come and help us load it. They were a bit late but all went well. Mind you I think their metal shell requires very careful packingâwe had everything in plastic bins or large plastic duffle bags.
We had them store the shell in our destination state, paid reasonable storage and gave them ten days notice for delivery. Again they found us a crew to download! Process was quick, painless and we are done!
I would say for small moves they provide a good solution that seemed efficient and cost effectivez

Zippy Shell ããã®åç
In retrospect, I should've just shipped everything via Fedex LTL and saved myself an enormous hassle and probably thousands of dollars.
This company is a mess, they bumbled just about every aspect of the entire process for a long distance move. I had to significantly change my moving plans THREE times to accommodate them messing up and nobody could clearly communicate what was going on at any point in the process. It also inexplicably took them three full weeks to get my stuff across the country.
First they messed up the container delivery day at the start location despite that being a part of the contract I signed, claiming I was missing a permit that I didn't actually need and neglected to even tell me. After talking to four people to sort that out and it was finally en route, nobody could give me any semblance of a status update or even a definite week when it would arrive. Of course they also messed up the delivery timing on the destination side and it got scheduled for two days later than I was told. Then over the course of sorting this out, they demanded an additional $500 to switch from a warehouse load to a delivery despite my having confirmed this change with a previous agent. One customer service rep basically flat out told me that their vendors are a black box and personally I find that pretty sketchy.
Honestly I'd be less annoyed if they hadn't charged me $5.5k on top of all of this but as it stands Zippy is at best a ripoff and at worst a con. The only thing nice I have to say is that the drivers (the Pack-Rat side, not even Zippy?) were friendly and professional.

I am leaving this review at 2 stars for now. Again it could go up from here. I did receive the claim results on 02/11/2022 like Zippy Shell promised so thank you Zippy Shell. They did make me an offer for the damaged furniture claim. I won't get into specific numbers right now but I will just say it was lower than what I was expecting. They have a process where you can appeal the decision in writing (email). I have done that and countered back with a higher amount along with my justification for doing so. They said a decision regarding my appeal will be made by 02/18/2022. So I will wait to give specifics on the final outcome of the claim until after I have the results of that decision. Again I am still hopeful that Zippy Shell will make this right. Stay tuned!

I called got a POD, it arrived on time gave me 1 day to load. Easy since I had laid out the dimensions in my garage and everything was boxed and ready to go. I ensured everything was in better quality plastic bins or high quality card board boxes. Carefully boxed with plywood sheets to distribute weight and balance. I used to be a trucker. They picked it up on time and delivered it on time. Unloaded it and found a few damp boxes. but I had lined boxes with plastic to be sure. Then I discovered several plastic bins with correct fitting lids had about a inch of water in the bottoms. The wire cage pod was wrapped in heavy plastic but must have been exposed outdoors for a period or in a very leaky truck. Some serious soaking. Many boxes still to check. DO NOT USE BECAUSE OF THE OPEN WIRE PODs instead of solid containers. The unloading crew was polite and professional and on time.
