This is not just “suspicious software” but a weaponized trojan designed to steal credentials and crypto. Anyone considering downloading or running this app should stay far away—do not install it under any circumstances, and if you already did, assume you have been compromised and take immediate incident‑response steps.
🚨 MALWARE ANALYSIS REPORT
zk-call-messenger-installer-3_9_2-lts.dmg (downloaded from ZkCallnet website)
VERDICT: Trojan Downloader - HIGH RISK
SUMMARY:
This DMG masquerades as the legitimate zk-Call messenger but is actually a trojan downloader. The installer contains 35MB of authentic LibreOffice documentation (Impress Guide 25.2 and Draw User Guide 7.6) as a distraction tactic to appear legitimate. Upon execution, the binary (runtimectl) downloads a secondary payload from gatemaden_dot_space - a domain completely unrelated to the official zk-Call website (zkcall_dot_net).
KEY EVIDENCE:
• Hardcoded malicious URL
• Uses stolen/compromised Apple Developer ID certificate (OKAN ATAKOL GNJLS3UYZ4)
• Embedded curl command for downloading unknown payload with retry mechanisms
• Decoy PDFs: PrivacyOverview.pdf (21MB) + QuickStart.pdf (14MB) - official LibreOffice guides, not messenger documentation
ATTACK VECTOR:
1. User downloads fake installer (possibly via phishing/malvertising)
2. Installer appears legitimate due to valid Apple certificate and professional-looking PDFs
3. Upon launch, runtimectl executes and silently downloads malware from gatemaden.space
4. Downloaded payload executes (unknown functionality - likely infostealer, RAT, or ransomware)
IMMEDIATE ACTIONS REQUIRED:
If installed: Remove application immediately, scan with Malwarebytes, check LaunchAgents/LaunchDaemons for persistence, consider password resets
If not installed: Delete DMG file, do not execute

I was downloaded dmg file from official site Zkcall_dot_net and this file contains Trojan downloader only. No messenger functionality inside. All space used by Libreoffice pdfs.
Perfect for team calls, but could use a better file-sharing system. Otherwise, no complaints.
I’ve been waiting for a product like this for years. It’s like zk call read my mind so perfect.
not bad at all, but if you’re looking for deep integrations — you might be left waiting for updates cause for me it was kind of disturbing:/
