My experience was good, and luckily I didn't run into any of snarfs that some of the reviewers here unfortunately did, how frustrating for them :-/ Saga Savings has been a good home (aka minimising loss with the present inflation rate) for my savings, for the past 3 months, and the online system works well. I'm now moving on, to Coventry Building Society, as presently they've the best combo of interest rate, max deposit, accessibility, etc. The closure had to be done by phone, on 0800 028 1701, though it was all handled very efficiently. And I learnt on the call that you don't need to wait till your monthly interest is applied, before closing. Whatever interest you've earned up to the date of closure, is first applied to the account. They'll offer to post you out a transaction listing, or you can download a PDF online. Oh, and before you hang up, don't forget to ask for a Tax Certificate (aka S975 Certificate Of Interest I think) to be posted out, which you'd likely need for your Self Assessment Tax Return, if you do one. As per most current and savings accounts, oddly these things are not sent automatically.
