Be very careful selling to CEX

Sold an xbox one s to cex. They claimed it has multiple cracks and no serial number. It was NOT sent this way. They are now sending me a damaged xbox one s back. Also, as CEX bought the postage, I cannot claim back from Parcel Force, only they can do that.

"I understand your perspective however for the item to pass the test, it needs to be free of any cracks or damage to its housing, even if it’s functioning properly."

I sent this in perfect condition. The above doesn't even cover the issue of it being damaged in transit or at CEX.

Parcel Force tried to deliver this item today. I refused delivery and its on its way back to you.

Parcel Force delivered it and left it outside in an unsealed plastic tub that was open to the elements. As I was away on holiday till today, I have come back to a sodden box that I will be taking back to Royal Mail tomorrow. CEX still refusing to accept ANY responsibility for their actions or the actions of their courier.

"the delivery is handled by the carrier and in case the customer is unavailable, they may choose to leave the package at a safeplace."

So, a safe place, according to CEX, is considered to be a waterproof box in my front garden where the lid was left partially off exposing the package to the elements. The waterproof box also contained my electric lawn mower. As the lid would not shut due to the courier trying to leave the package in the box with the lawn mower, the parcel was left a) visible to the street b) in a position where, for 6 days (as I was on holiday for 7) it was rained on and left in freezing contions overnight, and to make matters worse my electric lawn mower was also rained on as it was in the same box.

CEX consider this safe. I tend to differ.

CEX won't contact the courier about the water damage as seemingly leaving an xbox outside somesones home, where I got soaked for 6 days, isn't a big deal. They wont contact the courier to ask WHY an xbox one s, electric lawn mower, and my garden tools were left exposed to Scottish weather for 6 days

So, the xbox one s that was left outide for 6 days in a Scottish winter, CEX want to send this back to me untested. They haven't switched it on, they don't know if any water ingress has occured, or if any moisture is sitting on the board. They obviously want me to switch it on and see if it shorts so they can wipe there hands of it. As for the courier "feedback has been relayed to them regarding this matter." - show me the email. No one from Parcel Force or CEX seem concerned that my electric lawn mower and tools were exposed to 6 days and nights of scottish weather.

I will never deal with CEX again, from my experience, I would recommend you do the same.

I understand that your trade-in didn't go as expected, for which I would like to extend my apologies.

All items are tested by us and since we sell them further with a 5 year warranty, it is essential that they function as expected. When any visible issues are identified, they fail the test and are returned to the customer or recycled based on the preference selected at the time of placing the order.

If any discrepancies are identified with the package upon delivery, we are happy to raise an investigation with the carrier once the relevant details are shared with us.
