Almost got scammed by TUI/Marella
TUI almost got away with this SCAM!
Review based solely on this scam and not their onboard staff or the cruise itself.
I specifically booked and PAID for a particular cabin. As I was doing 2 consecutive 7-night cruises, this would save having to change cabins and also more importantly, avoid specific areas of the ship with noise.
Got the cabin key and went onboard to the cabin, opened the door to find clothes already in he cabin.
Long story short they assigned the cabin to someone else despite me having paid for it, emailed proof, and the cabin key. Despite this, they gave us a cabin directly under the Live Room/Atrium Bar. So it was constant noise EVERY NIGHT. The only other cabin they could offer was a balcony at an appx 700 GBP additional cost.
No compensation was given, no voucher for the inconvenience. I was told to contact their after-cruise support when the cruise ended.
This I did and was told by the agent who called that they can not give me a refund for the money because I got a cabin in the same category of deck 2 or 3. As I explained to her that this is the same as if I opted to have them select my cabin for FREE, which I did not do, but they stuck me with the free services and no refund. She was adamant in her view that I was not entitled to a refund and ended by saying "sorry we can't agree on this". An email from this agen was also ent to me stating the same basic things.
In the end I had no choice but to open a case with my bank along with all the proof. They eventually reviewed it and issued the full refund for the cabin.
Don't be scammed by TUI/Marella!!!
