Anyway..it’s 2026 and you’re still using paper forms? What a joke. My nearest post office to pick up a D1 is driving distance. Great job when I can’t drive for medical reasons! And I have to make another journey to return the form and PAY for postage. This is discrimination against disabled people who have their licences periodically revoked for medical reasons.

In absolute agony with a nerve impingement. Knew all I needed was stronger meds. Woman on the phone didn’t even know the medication I was on. She then spoke to her ‘clinical colleague’ instead of letting me speak to her. Then gave no help. Anyway a quick google said I could take some extra codeine. It did mean I had an extra gram of paracetamol with it though. It says to let 111 know if you have too much paracetamol. So I am. Your fault.

If you're looking for an organisation that excels at perfectly ignoring your concerns, the DVLA is absolutely the place for you! Their customer service is top-notch... at making sure you wait forever for a response. They aim to get back to you within 10 working days — but who really needs timeliness when you can drag it out for over a month?

It’s truly impressive how they can take a simple request and make it disappear into the void, hoping you’ll just give up and go away. If you enjoy being treated like an afterthought, then you’ll absolutely love dealing with them.

In short, if you want to feel completely invisible and unheard, the DVLA will be more than happy to oblige. Keep up the great work, DVLA — I’m sure your customers really appreciate the wait!

Saw someone gave them a good review so I’m doing a bad one to restore balance. I suspect the good review was fake.

The medical team should have an entire department dedicated to helping people who have had their licence taken away for medical reasons.
Sign posting for the practical implications and help for the mental health aspects.
As an active person who loves mountaineering, having my license taken away feels like being in lockdown again.

The guy on the phone frankly sounded like he was getting off on the fact that I couldn’t drive for another year.

Out dated and discriminatory organisation.

Take away driving licence for a seizure experienced during a medical emergency, where I was sick in bed for days prior and certainly would not have been driving!

Rather than assess on a case by case basis they just go off their broad ‘guidelines’ and ban you from driving for a year.

They don’t have ANY consideration for the huge financial and social implications of not being able to drive along with the associated mental health problems it can cause.
On the contrary the guy on the phone seemed to take great pleasure in telling me I couldn’t drive.

How this organisation hasn’t been sued yet, beggars belief!

I could not change anything about the delivery. I was out of town for 3 days and knew I would be so tried to get the delivery changed or held at the drop off but there was no option to and no one to contact. Instead it got taken back to the seller.

Just doing my weekly review until I get my licence back. Medical revocation.

I have to return my licence for medical reasons. I am expected to pay for postage! And then when I apply for it back I have to pay for postage. This is discrimination.

It’s now been 18 months since I applied get my license back which a voluntarily surrendered for medical reasons. 18 months!

I had my licence revoked for medical reasons in January 2021. I applied for it back in November 2021 as they asked me for 8 weeks grace in processing it. It’s now been well over a year. What a joke. Every person working at the DVLA brings shame on themselves and their families. I would disown my own child if they did this bad of a job.

Almost a year to process a medical review. Absolute shambles.

Striking for more money is laughable.
You failed to deliver my medication even though I was in. I heard the postman on the stones outside but he never knocked. When I came to the door he just walked off. My medication went back to the post office and when I went to collect it, it was closed due to the strikes. I kind of need that medication or, you know, I wouldn't be taking it. Guess I'll die.

Did you think about people with disabilities in your pathetic strike? Some people can't drive due to medical conditions. You don't deserve more money. You deserve less if anything.

Applied for my licence back in October- after being told it would take a few weeks to sort. Still waiting.
DVLA are literally the only organisation in the world still using covid as an excuse for poor service.

They’ve not actually threatened anything so they can just be ignored. Mildly annoying.

Timetable is fairly redundant at this point

Back for my monthly review. Now on 6 months since I applied to get my licence back (medical reasons). Absolute disgrace. I am losing income for every week that goes by without a licence. Yes I can drive under section 88 but certain jobs require a photo licence.
