Blocked wc caused by a small plastic funnel dropped into it and wedged where the flexible pipe connects to the pan. Dean located it but only after Homefix charged £350 plus VAT for investigating with a camera. The pan could have been removed on the first visit to check for a blockage before resorting to a camera. He did leave the area clean and tidy.

Unsatisfactory service and pricing
Had a very poor experience with 0800 Homefix. I was charged £1,800 for âTrace & Accessâ and £3,000 for âMaking Good/Reinstatementâ during a hot water cylinder leak visit in March/April 2026, but I wasnât given a proper itemised breakdown and I dispute whether the work was actually required or carried out.
My insurerâs surveyor later confirmed that no trace and access was needed, and an independent plumber said no structural making good work appeared to have been done. I raised disputes with American Express, and as a result of their investigation my account was credited.
Iâd strongly recommend getting independent quotes and checking with your insurer before agreeing to expensive emergency plumbing add-ons.
£100+ (Money for nothing)
As I said previously the workman was very polite and arrived really quickly but HE did not solve our problem even though I paid £100+ for the call out before he arrived (even though 0800 Homefix Ltd)don't like to call it a call out charge), he took a long time looking around the flat at the water tank, outside for the other water source (because the £100 was for an hour) but not actually at the source of the problem, the pump or the flow regulater which I later discovered with the help of another plumber from another company who did solve the issue and my shower is now working! No work was carried out by 0800 Homefix that visit but they then sent me a quote for £3,000+ for suggested work which would have been totally unnecessary work!

Effective service engineer let down by a call handler who made 3 errors for one simple job
Mum - nearly 90, lives alone - needed a heating engineer. We called at 10.20 and were promised a visit by 5pm. We paid up front for the same day service and were told an invoice was sent while we were on the phone. Had to call back 3 hours later as no invoice received - the helpline person had got my email wrong (we have previously used the company which she was aware of, so Iâm unsure how she made this mistake).
Once we got the invoice it showed some of the detail of the job was wrong (she recorded there was hot water coming from the shower - if that was the case we wouldnât need anyone to attend). We called the company again to make them aware.
No engineer visited. Had to call again at the end of the day, only for the original helpline person to say she had booked mum in for a different date. Itâs astonishing she could get so much wrong taking one straightforward call. My poor mum wasted a day waiting in for a visit that never happened.
The visit was rescheduled for the next day. The company then sent me a message saying the engineer was on his way and could be tracked using a link. The link didnât work - so had to call them again.
Adam, the engineer did call me with an ETA which he kept to. He was really helpful and resolved the issue quickly and effectively, Iâm grateful to him. But the customer receptionist was atrocious and really let down her company - if I made that many errors in my job Iâd be sacked. Iâm left wondering why I paid for a same day call out which we never received.
UPDATE: Upon receiving an additional (& inexplicable) invoice following the engineerâs eventual visit, I called the company to query it and complain about the (lack of) service my vulnerable mum received. The call handler readily acknowledged the incessant errors, agreed to refund in full and organised a follow up visit to address potential issues the engineer had noticed during his visit. I was impressed with AJâs customer care.
Great service
The plumber James Turner and his apprentice were very polite and helpful. They quickly identified the issue that had prevented my washing machine from being installed on initial delivery. They fixed the problem, removed the old machine and installed the new one all for the original call out fee. Very impressive.
Elliot was exceptional
Elliot was exceptional. He was friendly and efficient, fixed everything I needed help with and explained everything I needed to know. I mentioned at the beginning that I am on a tight budget, so he didnât do anything that would have cost extra without checking first, and he was very considerate about that. Would definitely recommend. Booking system with the office was easy and efficient, the provided plenty of updates before the job. No problems, paid exactly what I was quoted and the work is done.

Had a visit to replace a leaking toilet being replaced, very good service. Slight issue with the existing angled connector, had to pop out to pick up a new one which took 10 minutes and took us over two hours but the knocked that time off. So far happy.

Called 0800HomeFix for a leaking bathroom sink. I was initially charged £120 and understood this to be the fixed price for the work. Once the engineer arrived, the price increased to over £260 for what turned out to be a relatively straightforward bottle trap replacement completed within around an hour.
The sink was fixed successfully, so no complaints about the engineer himself, but the pricing and communication left a very poor impression. The replacement part itself is inexpensive and readily available, so the final bill felt massively disproportionate to the work carried out.
When I queried the charge afterwards, I received long generic explanations about âfixed-price contractsâ and âproject managementâ rather than a clear explanation of why such a minor plumbing job ended up costing so much.
Overall, the experience left me feeling misled on pricing and I certainly wouldnât use the service again. And would advise others not to
