Dreadful company. Very poor service. Best keep away from this mob.

Absolutely awful 😞.... I've been suckered in again by totally fake promises. Like others I uploaded 20+ images all accepted etc.. then within seconds we'll probably a minute or two ..I had loads of scam messages about wanting to buy my shots.

Unless you really want to be scammed and hassled , I really wouldn't advise joining 500px.

I wish there really was somewhere on the web that was genuine and honest ..

I don't usually complain, but why use the "You already said that" filter? I should be allowed to write "thanks" multiple times, for example..

It would be nice if the main account showed whether someone was currently online.

I grant you that there are excellent photographers on this site that showcase their talent but there are also those that claim to be photographers but they all they do is steal pics from porn websites and post then on 500px. Moderation is not existent as you report these copyright thieves and porn posters they do nothing about it. When you report them then they ban you for doing so. Pathetic. I do want to let everyone know who wants to join this site and that is 500px is owned by Visual China Group, a major image licensing company based in "China". It became a subsidiary of Visual China Group after being acquired in February 2018 so I would be extremely careful of any info you share.

Support is practically non-existent. They marked one of my photos "Private" and then posted this message when I tried to make it Public again: Sorry but this photo status is marked by 500px admin please contact our team if you have questions. Trouble is there is no way to reach an Admin. I've logged a support case but have heard nothing after a week. Don't waste your money, the site is degenerating into a virtual island where they try and lure you into further expense with their Quest photo contests.

Was quite active a few years ago, and my photos got really good traction, some even making it close to the top of the popular page. Came back recently as a free user; now when I post there is hardly any engagement whatsoever.

I've also been on the Ready to Explore Pulse PX, where there are daily quests. You are given a set amount of pixels with which to enter the quests. Once these run out, you have to buy more to continue. Did really well the first few weeks and made it to pro level by entering many different quests. At first these quests were only 1 or 2 pixels to enter; now it seems after my initial engagement these quests are now a minimum of 10 pixels to enter and as much as 25.

Signed up for free 30 day trial. There is no easy way to cancel the service. Tried and cancelled. Yet, they charged using my debit card that I used at sign up. When I reached support, they were not helpful as they already had the money. Then I went through my bank to void out the charges - this of course requires some cycles because of unauthorized financial charges by 500 px

I started this site with hope and already within a week ive quit without trying their free trial ,after downloading 20 photos there seems to be genuine people who like my photos but also has scammers operating as well ,Ive already removed my photos wth a big SAYONARA .Of course the multiple reviews also helped.

The 500px customer service is extremely disappointing. When I tried to raise a concern about their service, my account was permanently banned instead of the issue being resolved. There appears to be no proper complaint process or support available.

Ich bin einige Jahre Mitglied bei 500px und habe dort auch zahlreiche professionelle Fotos veröffentlicht. In den Jahren hat sich das Portal zu einer wahren Katastrophe entwickelt. Man kann faktisch kein Foto mehr einstellen, ohne im Anschluss sofort von einer Flut von Spams überschüttet zu werden (MESSAGE ME ON ....; I need pictures....; I want some fotos, ....) Auch die einzelnen Kategorien werden regelmäßig mit einer Flut von asiatischer Werbung geflutet. Mittlerweile habe ich die Vermutung, dass diese Spam Welle bewusst von 500px gesponsort wird. Ich habe auch keinen Nerv mehr, ständig die Spams auszusortieren. Eine Möglichkeit, irgendeinen Support zu kontaktieren, sucht man auf der Homepage vergeblich. Statt dessen landet man in einem FAQ Folder. Ich kann dieses Portal wirklich nicht (mehr) empfehlen und werde mich selbst davon verabschieden! Die Vorbereitungen laufen schon ....

Long-time photographer – disappointing experience with hidden content

As a fine art nude photographer, I joined 500px based on their clear promise to support NSFW content, as long as it complies with their guidelines and is properly flagged.

I uploaded artistic nude images, marked as NSFW – and yet, every single one was automatically set to “private” immediately after upload. No explanation, no review, no visibility. The core service I paid for was essentially non-functional.

Only after multiple support messages, clear criticism, and a formal escalation (including the prospect of public complaint and chargeback), did the team react:
– My images were manually restored
– They admitted a misclassification caused by an automated third-party system
– A fix was promised to prevent further false flags

While I appreciate that action was eventually taken, it should never take this much pressure to correct a platform failure.

Bottom line:
500px has potential, especially for artistic photographers. But only if you're willing to fight against opaque moderation systems and poor initial support.

I advise new users to proceed cautiously, document everything, and be prepared to escalate if necessary

Update – August 01 / 2025:
Despite confirmation from 500px that the image filtering issue had been resolved, I uploaded a new image – properly flagged – and it was again immediately set to private.

This proves that the platform continues to misclassify artistic content and that previous support statements were either premature or incorrect.

My conclusion stands: 500px is not a reliable environment for fine art or NSFW-marked photography.

update:

Refund granted after persistent appeal

After repeated issues with automatic restrictions and poor support responses from 500px, I requested a refund of my membership fee. At first, I was only offered small “goodwill” gestures instead of a real solution. Only after I firmly insisted on a refund and made it clear I would escalate through PayPal did 500px finally comply.

With some external help I was able to sharpen my argument – in the end, 500px refunded my full annual fee.

My conclusion: Don’t give up. Stay polite but firm – and involve your payment provider if necessary. That’s the only way to get results.

First they didn't reply to my email proving it's my account, now they have disabled the support email.
So looks like I will have to use goverment agency to make them delete it under GDPR Article 17, so it's deleted. Who knows what might happen to the account when I'm not in control anymore.

I honestly don't recommend them to anyone. They are really bad. But hey, don't take my word for it — see for yourself.

500px scam yes deleted my account with 200 licensed photos, deleted my account without notification, it harmed me, I am really fed up with 500px, never deal with 500px, it is really detrimental!!

My account was banned without Warning, I've not broken any rules to my knowledge
Contacted them 3 times and been ignored

Immer wieder Probleme nach Update.
Heute am 6.3.2025 funktioniert die Android App wieder nicht.

Seit langem wollte ich mal wieder etwas posten. Was ist denn mit dieser Plattform passiert?!? Ständig lädt die Seite nicht, übermäßig viel Werbung, komische Kontaktanfragen... so mach das wirklich keinen Spaß mehr!
