What is the Access Card? The physical card acts as a photo ID that can be used to easily communicate your access requirements to events and venues, so that the venues can provide accessibility to the needs of their visitors. It also works online with other platforms like ticketing systems, to unlock the access facilities you need. The card shows a photo ID and translates a persons disability or impairment into symbols, effectively highlighting the barriers they face and the reasonable adjustments they might need. The Access Card app provides you with a personalised directory of venues, with first-class accessibility information to help you plan your trips.

An inaccessible service for disabled people
Refusing to accept my doctors letter as proof, wouldn’t give me a card that had my needs on it. A complete waste of money, time. And so stressful.
The response time was extremely quick but can feel discriminatory.
The response time was extremely quick, which is definitely a positive. The concept of the Access Card is great and has a lot of potential to help disabled people. However, I do question how they come to some of their decisions. Despite providing detailed information and evidence of my conditions, the outcome didn’t seem to fully reflect my needs or the support I already receive in other settings. I think more transparency in the assessment process would make the experience feel more fair. I was denied the plus one part as they said they did not have enough evidence to support that requirement.
Not a great experience until I spoke to John
I applied for a renewal over a month ago, emails were taking nearly a week to get a response, I had lost one of the pages from my PIP, but despite telling them my needs had not changed, I wasn't getting anywhere. In the end, I called and spoke to a guy called John, he was courteous, empathetic and understood straight away the issue, 5 mins later, all sorted.
Thank you John, you restored my faith in the scheme.
Very happy with the service.

Cannot fault this service
Cannot fault this service, my enquiry and application complete within a couple of hours.
Deeply Disappointed and Let Down
I’m absolutely shocked by how this company handled my situation. Despite providing DLA evidence and a letter from a healthcare professional, my request for a +1 for my 3-year-old was refused. Other places accept DLA for this, so I feel disadvantaged and discriminated against simply because of my child’s age.
I’m angry and extremely disappointed — this company claims to support people with additional needs, yet has shown no compassion or understanding. I’ll be cancelling my application and requesting a refund. Truly let down by an organisation that should know better.
Having an expiry date, why?
Having an expiry date is ridiculous for most. The disability for the majority of us will never go away.
It's just make money from the disabled.
Efficient, accessible and extremely helpful
Very straightforward application process, immediate acknowledgement with clear instructions and processed within a few days.
Positive experience Answered my emails swiftly
Answered my emails swiftly. Helpful and polite, I have difficulty expressing my needs but they seemed to understand what I needed thank you neil
Found it very difficult to get my card…
Found it very difficult to get my card and it took over 30 days after they took the money and had it authorised.
Takes to long to answer any emails enquirys
The application process is totally a DISGRACE
The application process is totally DISGUSTING. It is COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE TO ENTER DATE OF BIRTH. I spent at least an hour on my phone trying to tap back from 2025 to 1931 and then when I pressed Set it went back to 2025.
On my laptop date of birth comes up as 0031 and then says invalid. I also tried to phone and after hanging on to a recorded message and terrible music after 20 minutes the recording told me it couldnt help anyone and cut off. I am DISGUSTED with the entire system. No one can help and it is supposed to be easy not difficult.
Liz made my experience calm and was patient, kind and helpful
I found the questions easy enough to answer, and it’s nice there isn’t a maximum character limit as part of my condition I do tend to over explain. I did make a mistake on my child’s personal details and found it easy enough to email these over and then followed this up with a call to the helpline and spoke to a wonderful, patient and kind lady called Liz who walked me through everything, fixed my error while constantly assuring me and supporting me and explaining the different symbols on the phone and was just generally a thoughtful kind lady who understood and I can see is such an asset to the Access Team. So happy it was Liz that answered my call as I felt a weight lifted after our chat, where I was panicking about it beforehand.
Was easy to fill the application form…
Was easy to fill the application form and I had help from one of the customer helped me with some questions. My son will be happy with this card now thanks very much.
I applied for this card for my severely…
I applied for this card for my severely autistic non verbal 5 year old and was granted only the queuing symbol . After 6 weeks of back and forth emails me sending evidence to say she ideally needs a 2-1 ratio she elopes and cannot communicate I kept getting the same response which was there’s not enough evidence. She receives DLA high rate care and mobility is entitled to a blue badge but does not qualify for an essential companion symbol ? This was highly frustrating despite ALL of the evidence submitted clearly stating all of her needs and the fact she needs constant supervision I cancelled my application and received my £15 refund . The service is a disgrace and if anything discriminates against those with disabilities categorising them how they see fit . If you fail to reach the criteria you are being outcasted and cannot access that event which is against the equality act and is definitely discriminatory behaviour. Absolute waste of time
Very helpful easy access
Very helpful easy access, quick & very reliable thank you very much
Upgrading to the Access card was simple…
Upgrading to the Access card was simple and it arrived by post promptly. The original application required detailed info which i happily assumed is required in today's world.
The staff are always courteous and very helpful. I wish all companies could be the same.
Just renewed my access card
Just renewed my access card, have been accepted, with most needs given, apart from the level access, this I needed as I can only manage 3-4 steps or stairs, with my mobility and stability problems, my last card gave me this option,I called access card to find out why, to be told they have changed the rules for this and are now only giving it to wheelchair users and people who use a rollater. I think this is unfair and harsh to people who have walking and stability issues and use a walking stick. How are they suppose to handle stairs and steps now. I feel this is very wrong and is going to cause stress to those people who can’t manage steps and stairs, like myself included.
Really useful card for non-visible…
Really useful card for non-visible disabilities. A few hoops to jump through, but that is expected really, communication was polite and patient as I have a brain injury . Thank you
