Normally, verification is completed instantly when there are no issues. However, if our security system triggers an alert, we’re required to conduct a manual review. Recently, we’ve had a higher volume of these requests, which unfortunately caused a delay in your case.

In your specific situation, the verification could not be completed because the document provided appeared to be a copy rather than a photo of your original government-issued ID. For compliance with banking requirements, KYC (Know Your Customer), and anti–money laundering regulations, we are only able to accept clear photos or scans of the original ID.

We hope this explanation helps, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused. At ArbitrageCard, customer security is our top priority, and we take these situations very seriously. Just to clarify, ID verification is a required part of our checkout process. In most cases it's approved automatically, but sometimes our fraud prevention system may detect additional risk signals which can cause transactions to be declined.

We take customer issues extremely seriously, but we’re disappointed to see this review, especially since it omits critical facts and misrepresents the situation.

Here is a brief "TL;DR" style summary of the primary points:

1. The cards were verified by our team to be valid at the time of sale (June 8) and were even partially used by you, only after which they were blocked by Home Depot, which we confirmed by contacting Home Depot directly to obtain the redemption history of the cards. This indicates that the issue most likely did not stem from the cards inherently or any error from our end.

2. We spent weeks assisting you with this — even though payment was excessively delayed and we did not receive communication from you for nearly a week at one point.

3. Ultimately you are not out any money from this transaction since your original payment failed and payment for these cards was never sent via another method. ArbitrageCard absorbed the full $4,140 loss from this group of Home Depot gift cards.

Here is a broader description of the situation with more comprehensive detail:

You placed an order for $10,000 Home Depot gift cards on June 8th which were valid at the time of delivery. All of these cards were successfully used by you before Home Depot later blocked some of them — something outside of our control and something that can happen if Home Depot flags activity from a particular IP, account, or shipping address.

Despite this, we invested significant time contacting Home Depot in an effort to help you resolve the $4,500 of cards which were blocked. At no point did we “do nothing” — we communicated consistently, escalated the case with Home Depot, and followed up multiple times on your behalf. Even at this time we are still continuing to work on resolving these cards.

Meanwhile, your original ACH payment through our website failed on June 10 (2 days after your purchase). Since then, we experienced poor response times from you (including a six-day gap in communication from July 1 to July 7), and it took a total of 33 days (on July 14) for us to receive payment for the remaining $5,500 in cards from the same purchase which were NOT blocked by Home Depot — all while we were still assisting you in good faith.

Upon initiating the aforementioned partial payment, you requested to purchase an additional $10,000 of Home Depot cards from us on July 11. However, in light of the repeated issues with payment and communication, and no resolution on the blocked cards — which again, were valid when sold and only later flagged — we declined the sale and made the difficult decision to end our business relationship with you.

Although we decided to no longer conduct business with you, this did not cause any financial damage to you since we never received payment for the blocked cards. You remained financially whole while ArbitrageCard incurred a loss of $4,140.

We’re proud of how we handle support and stand behind our history of strong service with hundreds of other customers. This review unfortunately does not reflect the full story, and we believe that it ultimately stems from your frustration at our decision to no longer conduct business with you, rather than an actual failure on our part to handle this situation properly.
