Had a good experience with ASR gearbox. They were approachable at all times, specially thanking James for the good service. I was explained about the actual process and I could always get in touch with James whenever I had a concern, moreover they were always happy to explain the situation to me in a very polite and friendly manner. Thank you for the amazing service.

I have had an exceptional experience with this company. I had an issue with my cars gearbox which was inherited when I bought it from a dealership. This company picked my car up for me from the dealership, they kept everything transparent regarding pricing, they kept me informed on the progress and were really reassuring as I was really stressed about the whole issue of the dealership selling me a dudd vehicle. Honourable mention, Rockie and Elliot have been absolutely amazing they have been very helpful, very professional, very knowledgeable and showed a lot of empathy. Outstanding service that I’d recommend to anyone. Thank you so much.

Despite some delivery problems (components not in UK) I was kept informed of rebuild progress.

We have my dear dad’s car that he brought from new ,a Mercedes A class 20007 . Unfortunately it appeared to have a problem with the ECU or control module , this was suspected by local companies in Essex , however after several calls to ask if they could fix the problem no one wanted to know , we understood why , the car is old 2007 and therefor the work would cost more than the car is worth . Very much a rock and a hard place , fix it or buy another car ?
We saw ASR gearbox repair on line and gave them a call , we spoke to James and immediately liked him , very helpfull informative and definitely sincere not pushing for us to go there but listening to our dilemma , we needed the car repaired as we are looking after my parents and going around to them several times day and night . James explained he could get the car picked up and delivered back and asap . He organised that for the day after we agreed to go ahead , but we rang the following day to,ask him to,put it on hold as we had a dilemma re seeing a car for sale . He said it’s no problem take your time it’s a difficult decision. We decided to go ahead with the repair . James booked it to be collected the next day . He let us know the car had arrived and then let us know it was being looked at and the diagnosis . The work was done very quickly and James let us know the cost and went out of his way to get the car back to us the same day ! understanding how much we relied on it .
A huge thank you to James who we immediately trusted . And a big thank you to the guy that worked late to deliver the car at 8 pm at night . I had phoned a few times and whoever we spoke to could not have been more helpful , Chris , and Scott . James called today to make sure all is ok with the car . So far so good and hopefully will stay that way as we feel it’s a great company made all the better by excellent caring staff thank you .

From the first phone call they was very upfront and honest.
They kept to every word they said from even picking the vehicle up and dropping it off.
Very quick turnaround less than a week.
Quick pick up, diagnostic and repair then dropped off.

From min one Elliot spoke with me on the phone, they collected the car and done my repairs all at a great price and communication throughout and then returned the car, would highly recommend.

Good service and support from the start provided by technical advisor, Sonny, with clear and regular communications throughout the vehicle recovery and diagnostic process. There was no pressure to accept the repair quote given which I didn't in the end after considering the age and very high mileage of my vehicle versus the cost of repair. Even the salvaging advice given was appreciated. Thanks, Sonny.

Our Ford had a problem with the gearbox. The pick up was on time. Assessment of the work was done and a price was given very quickly. There was no hard sell for the work to be done.We ended up selling the car to ASR as the car wasn't worth the repair and they paid more than we were expecting. I have called several times and they have always been very polite and helpful.

Was recommended ASAR TRANSMISSION to repair my transmission to my bmw m3 sport. Lower gear box , spoke to James, who had the time to explain the whole process from collection, repair and redelivery, to my door step, he carried the work out via RAC warranty., I was in communication with James giving me updates and it was so reassuring, 4 days later Asar rang (james) to say my car was being delivered the following day, and there it was!!! ASR provided a detailed diagnosis, cost estimate and comprehensive repair. In addition they provided a video of the work done and further options to demonstrate clearly what had been accomplished. The pick-up and delivery service made the whole experience straight forward.

Absolutely polite and very helpful. Fixed it within days and it was very quick. I’ll definitely recommend going to them. Proper chaps. Jay really helped me a lot

Gearbox seems repaired so far, following a complete loss of drive. Having read the reviews (too late) I think this could be just a booking service for real garages.

Negative.
Despite repeated chases from me to ensure they contacted the warranty company to ensure it was done by the book, they did not adequately. Informing me weeks later when the work was complete and payment due having sent no evidence to me or the warranty company.

Hence the warranty claim was rejected leaving me with a bill over £8,000.

Sadly I was abroad 3 weeks of the time, and also lost a family member too, so could not dedicate more time to this.

Sonny was very helpful and explained everything. Plus sent me pictures and done a video for me. Ai rate ASR as a very professional company who use genuine or better parts than original. So if they do a job it is built to last. Ai now says because I had my Audi A3 1.8tfsi dsg gearbox done by ASR it will last another 100k or more as all the parts have been vastly improved. I had my clutch plates changed to get rid of the shudder, plus they noticed a crank seals leaking. That seal alone has increased my oil consumption by 70% before I was topping up with oil every 300 miles. Now done 700 and the oil is still at the top of the stick. They also saved my mechatronic unit and just replaced a few modules. Cost was just over 2.4k included, diagnosis, pick up and redelivery, reprogramming and all parts and labour. Plus you get a 12 month warranty. So all in all if you want a proper professional job done ASR in my experience is worth every penny.

First Rate Experience. My Beloved golf GTI MK1 Cabrio required a full gearbox overhaul. Having decided that this was the company to use I was kept up to date from start to finish via James and informed of additional costs through out. The original quote was exceeded but not by rip off standards. More to do with quality of work and parts required. Again I could have gone cheaper else where but as an electrical engineer myself I find myself frequently having to go over other electrical engineers work completed on the cheap. The car was returned a few weeks ago and I have only just managed to give her a full run out today. Thank you all so very much for all the work done to put a huge smile on my face. My experience from start to finish was excellent. Communication was amazing and always kept up to date. 100% would recommend anyone to use them.

The communication and efficiency in explaining the process of my car repair from the beginning.

Recently enquired about my Golf R, but was put off by the fact they wouldn't tell me the location of the garage my car would be sent to, which appears to be an issue faced by others even AFTER booking and collection.

I decided to look into the website a little further after this, and was then concerned that the website claims ASR has 25 years of experience, but the company wasn't incorporated on Companies House until 2022 and the listed owners themselves are only in their twenties. There's no published records of there being any predecessor company or owners.

The combination of the two just seemed odd to me, and so was enough to encourage me away from using their services.

I can't comment on their actual workmanship.
