I had an excellent experience with AVAX car rental company from start to finish. The booking process was simple and transparent, with no hidden fees or surprises as long you get full insurance from them which is not expensive. When I arrived Dubronik Bojan send me whatsapp message and video where to get the car location. HE was friendly, professional, and ready to assist right away.
The car itself was clean, well-maintained, and exactly as described. It drove smoothly from Dubronik to Mostar back and forth (3days) and made my trip much more comfortable and enjoyable. I also appreciated how quick and hassle-free both the pick-up and return processes were.
Customer service really stood out—they were responsive, helpful, and genuinely cared about making my experience a positive one. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone looking for reliable and stress-free car rental, and I will gladly use their services again in the future.

Super das wir ein Auto ohne Kreditkarte mieten konnten. Der Office ist leider nicht direkt am Flughafen, wir wurden abgeholt, mussten aber 35 Minuten warten. Das Fahrzeug hatte äußerlich einige kleine macken. Innen die Polster waren auch nicht mehr so sauber. 25000 km Laufleistung.

Der Empfang sowie die Auslieferung war freundlich und deutlich.

Bei der Rückgabe wurde das Fahrzeug cm für cm nach kleinen Schäden untersucht. Auch Unterboden...und das mit einer Vollversicherung.

Alles in allem verlief alles super und können diese Autovermietung empfehlen.

Es war echt super entspannt..
wir benötigten keine kreditkarte, eine Debitkarte hat vollkommen geschickt..
wir wurden am Flughafen abgeholt und direkt ins Büro gefahren..
wenn man keine Kreditkarte hat, zahlt man halt 50€ Aufpreis und man erhält die premium Versicherung für 70€ ca Aufpreis..
Mitarbeiterin super freundlich..
auch die Kommunikation erst über WhatsApp, dann persönlich super geklappt..
Das Auto was wir vorerst gebucht hatten, war nicht verfügbar, haben sofort ein größeres erhalten zu den geichen
Konditionen erhalten.. immer wieder gerne

I recommend Avax wholeheartedly. We came to them having had a very bad experience with another car rental company Carwiz in Zagreb, reviewed on this site separately. We’d had to walk away in some despair, still needing a car to continue our trip and wondering if we’d have to rethink our plans and potentially lose accommodation bookings we’d made. Fortunately within an hour Avax had offered us a straightforward, no nonsense rental with no hidden costs or last minute complications which met all our needs. Though more expensive than our original quote from Carwiz, which had turned out to be a fantasy anyway, Avax’s price felt fair and honest for the service and was still a third cheaper than some other companies we tried. Throughout the process the agents we dealt with were polite, efficient and communicated well with us, to ensure we had all the information we needed for smooth handovers. We got a car that perfectly suited our needs, in good condition and we were able to travel on comfortably and confidently to eventually drop the car at Split airport 10 days later. Drop off was easy. They gave us some last minute flexibility on timing so we didn’t have to stress about being charged for being late if traffic was worse than we thought, which we really appreciated, and they even made sure to give us a lift to the airport so we didn’t have to walk 10 minutes in the heat.

Kind and helpful employees. Pick up and drop off were easy, quick and efficient. We were given a bigger car for no extra cost and they helped us out with our luggage problem. Would definitely recommend.

Highly recommended. Fantastic helpful staff, transparency in prices, clarity on the benefits of buying the Premium insurance, flexibility on returning car to a different location. I booked separate rentals in 2 locations in June 2025 - Dubrovnik and Split - in both cases returning to a different location.

Für unseren Aufenthalt in Dubrovnik haben wir über das Online-Portal einen Mietwagen aus der Kategorie „Kleinwagen“ zum Preis von 185 Euro gebucht. Zusätzlich wählten wir folgende Optionen:

Grenzübertritt (Cross Border): kostenfrei, damit Fahrten in Nachbarländer möglich sind

Rückgabe außerhalb der Öffnungszeiten (Out of Hours Drop-off): 50 Euro, da die Rückgabe um 4 Uhr morgens erfolgte

Buchung ohne Kreditkarte: 60 Euro

Premium-Versicherungspaket: 60 Euro, wurde automatisch hinzugefügt, da keine Kreditkarte hinterlegt wurde

Obwohl die Zusatzkosten den Gesamtpreis deutlich erhöhten, entschieden wir uns bewusst für dieses Angebot, da das Unternehmen über sehr gute Bewertungen verfügte. Unser Ziel war es, vor Ort keine unangenehmen Überraschungen durch versteckte Gebühren zu erleben.

Die Abholung des Fahrzeugs in Dubrovnik verlief reibungslos. Da kein Kleinwagen verfügbar war, wurde uns ohne Aufpreis ein Fahrzeug einer höheren Kategorie zur Verfügung gestellt. Das Fahrzeug wurde uns vor Ort gezeigt und alle vorhandenen Schäden wurden transparent dokumentiert und im Übergabeprotokoll festgehalten. Vor Ort bezahlten wir exakt den Betrag, der auch in der Buchungsbestätigung aufgeführt war – es kamen keine zusätzlichen Kosten hinzu.

Die Rückgabe des Fahrzeugs erfolgte planmäßig um 4 Uhr morgens durch Abstellen auf dem vorgesehenen Parkplatz. Eine weitere Kommunikation seitens des Anbieters war nicht notwendig, es gab keine Nachforderungen oder sonstige Probleme.

Fazit: Wir waren mit dem gesamten Ablauf sehr zufrieden – von der Buchung über die Fahrzeugübernahme bis zur Rückgabe. Besonders positiv hervorzuheben sind die Transparenz, der faire Umgang und das zuverlässige Handling vor Ort.

We arrived for the day off of a cruise ship. We wanted to rent a car for a few hours to drive down the coast from Split. Avax was quick to deliver what we needed. The car was newer and drove extremely well. The staff were professional and friendly. Our overall experience was excellent. Highly recommend Avax rent a car.

Odlična usluga, izvanredno odoblje i pouzdana vozila. Sigurno vrijedno ponovnog kontakta u budućnosti.

Very unpleasant and unprofessional experience with Avax Rent a Car at Split downtown. Hired a car in Dubrovnik, paid the premium insurance which supposedly covered all damage to the car. Car got a flat tyre near Split. Was told to bring it in and they would replace the car. When I arrived, they said I could only have another car if I paid MORE insurance. Showed them their contract which states any replacement car has all the benefits carried over from the original hire (including insurance). Manager was very rude and refused to give me the replacement car without me paying the insurance AGAIN for the remaining days. Emailed the complaints department at Avax, but they have not replied to my email or refunded me the money they fraudently charged me. Beware - looks like they are happy to rip off tourists and ignore their own contract.

Edit to add - Amazing! Only days after leaving a negative review, Avax is able to respond on here, but almost 20 days after sending a complaint to their official email address, still no response. I think this just goes to show the level of customer care by this unprofessional company. Then again, why am I surprised? They clearly make up rules as they go along (nothing on 'insurance only covers one event' in the contract. In fact, the wording of the contract is quite clear that this is NOT the case), so why should I expect them to respond within 15 days as per the automatic response I received? Carry on Avax, you're doing a great job proving to everyone how terrible you are.

Edit, edit: sure Avax - why don't you confirm the email address I should reach out to you on? I'd hate for my email to get 'lost' again, or you have some other 'technical issue' which prevents you from receiving it. Or will I be ignored again?

Final note; Ignored it is - I think this sums up Avax's customer service perfectly.

Abbiamo noleggiato una Kia Rio del 2024 nuovissima e confortevole. Vedran il nostro agente (che parla un italiano perfetto) ha curato tutto nei minimi particolari e ci ha permesso di pagare in loco in contanti, senza alcun anticipo. È stato molto disponibile e ha soddisfatto tutte le nostre esigenze, oltre a essere un gran simpaticone. Nel momento in cui abbiamo lasciato l'auto alla sede vicino l'aereoporto, Vanessa è stata così gentile da accompagnarci fino all'ingresso del terminal. Che dire uno STAFF davvero eccezionale e costi super convenienti. Consigliato !

I highly recommend the car rental. We were looking for a rental company that doesn't require a credit card and deposit because we didn't have a credit card. We decided on Avax, it was enough to buy only premium insurance without any deposit/cards.The service is very nice and contact with the agent and the rental itself was provided all the time. In the future, when we are back in Croatia, we will definitely decide on Avax again. The car we received was practically new with very low mileage, it was well-kept and clean inside. I highly recommend it, there's no hidden cost. Thank a lot for good rental experience 🙂!

Attention arnaque lors du retour de la voiture, l état des lieux de retour de la voiture est fait avec un petit chiffon et pour nous ils ont trouvé une petite marque en bas du pare choc avant et ils nous ont pris 200 euros sur la caution... Vérifier correctement la voiture lorsque vous la prenez

Nous avons été accueilli par Bojan à coté de l’aéroport très gentil qui explique bien les choses, carte verte pour aller en Bosnie. Tout a été parfait

Fantastic experience dealing with Eugen and Avax. We flew into Zagreb and picked up the car at 1.30am, our flight was delayed an hour but that was no problem as Eugen was tracking the flight.

Before arriving there was clear information via WhatsApp on where we'd meet and a video of the car so we knew what we were looking for. After a couple of signatures and payment we were off in 5 minutes. Before we left Eugen made it clear if we had any problems or questions to get in touch any time, day or night.

On the day of returning the car we were provided with an exact drop off pin which made heading back to the airport much less stressful and Eugen was waiting for us there even though we were early.

Another signiture to say we'd handed the car back and everything was done.

If you want no hassle car hire I'd definitely recommend them, no stupid deposits or holds on funds, no mileage limits or other nitpicking small print.

Will definitely be using them next year.

Strongly recommend Avax rental car company. New cars, flexible approach to customers. I will be back, for sure!

Per la nostra vacanza in Croazia di 4 giorni avevamo necessità di affittare una macchina per i vari spostamenti e per raggiungere ì laghi di Plitvice.
Abbiamo deciso quindi, dopo una conversazione con Vedran che parla italiano, di noleggiare la macchina con loro nonostante non avessimo la carta di credito, infatti ci hanno permesso di pagare solamente la quota della macchina e della copertura totale assicurativa in contanti. All’ufficio dell’ aeroporto di Spalato ci ha accolto Vanessa che gentilmente ci ha spiegato tutto quanto ed ha dato anche indicazioni riguardo la città.
La macchina in perfette condizioni e con pochi chilometri è stata essenziale durante il nostro viaggio.
Al rilascio della macchina di cui avevamo stabilito un orario, Vanessa ci ha permesso tranquillamente di riconsegnarla più tardi dell’orario previsto, offrendoci anche un passaggio all’aeroporto. Che dire veramente fantastici e consigliatissimi .
