Bless Community Support is dedicated to enriching lives through education, well-being, and meaningful connections within Upton, Hemsworth, and surrounding areas of West Yorkshire. Our mission is to reduce isolation and loneliness across all ages, backgrounds, health statuses, and abilities by fostering social engagement, personal development, and community spirit. We offer Learning Support, helping parents, students, and adults access valuable educational resources, career development, and IT facilities. Our Social Engagement initiatives—including children’s holiday clubs, afternoon tea gatherings for the over 50's, and the Crotchet Group—encourage lasting friendships and strong community bonds. We also promote Environmental Awareness through our childrens gardening and environment projects that inspire sustainable living. One of our most impactful initiatives is the Memory Friendship Group, a welcoming space for individuals living with dementia and Alzheimer’s. Through shared experiences, engaging activities, and heartfelt companionship, we provide comfort and connection for both participants and their families. From resilience workshops to Macmillan cancer support groups, our diverse Well-Being Programs ensure that every individual can find encouragement and emotional support.

Bless is truly a cornerstone of Upton and surrounding communities, enhancing the quality of life here. It's been a significant positive change locally, allowing me to forge many new friendships. Julie, along with her team of volunteers, excels in meeting the needs of the area. If Bless were ever absent, the community would undoubtedly feel its loss. Keep up the excellent work, Julie and volunteers!
I have been to my favourite place today, Bless. Such a calming and peaceful place to be. We were learning about Lymph Nodes and how they work, which was very relaxing. We have a lovely group of people and volunteers who help make this group a wonderful place to come to.

Today at Bless we were learning about lymphatic system and how to care for ourselves. It was very good.
Hand massage and Reiki were available if we wanted to take part.
A very safe place to sit and chat to others.

I have been going to Bless for about 6 weeks, the best thing I have done, It's such an amazing place, so relaxing calming, you can join in the activities such as meditation reiki arm and hand massage, and much more, or you just sit and chat drink tea or coffee, even cake.
I had an amazing experience today with fresh flowers, we all made a Mandala of flowers truly a wonderful thing.
Also an amazing group of light minded people, so pleased I have joined the group.

Bless has made so much difference to my life, having lots of health issues my circle started to get smaller . I joined meditation and the health day . The staff and volunteers are amazing , it’s the highlight of my week . So professional .

Bless is what makes Upton and other places a great place to live it’s the best thing that’s happened in the local area I’ve made lots of new friends and Julie and the other volunteers do an excellent job and what was required in this area the area would miss bless keep up the good work Julie and all the volunteers

In 2020 I was in a very dark place. My life just wasn't the same. I didn't want to go out anywhere, talk to anyone it just wasn't me. I heard about Bless Community Support and thought it would be a good opportunity to speak to people. I went with my sister's as I didn't want to go on my own. I couldn't believe how I felt after just one afternoon. Everyone was so nice to me and made me feel better in myself. After 1 year I was asked to be a volunteer by Julie obviously I said yes. I thought to myself if this is how I feel after being around people I could make somebody else feel the same. It's been an absolute pleasure to be involved in 3 groups. Monday afternoons I do Memory Friendship Group, Tuesday afternoons A Stitch In Time and Thursday afternoons Afternoon Tea Bingo and Quiz. I now call the bingo out for over 50 people which I love. On different events I get dressed up. I've been a Dancing Elf, Easter Bunny, Queen, King Charles, Elvis, Snowman. If think of it if Bless Community Support has helped me I can help other people. Thank you to Julie Green for letting me have the chance to do what I do to make other people feel better in themselves.

My son and I love going to Little Buds allotment club, it is a real local treasure. The site is absolutely idyllic with trees, raised beds and a pond, overlooking a field of horses. It is so well set up for the children, every aspect has been well thought out to provide an engaging and varied experience where there is something for children of all ages. There are bird and bat boxes, hedgehog houses, a bug hotel, raised beds, greenhouses and a polytunnel. Activities and crafts are often seasonal and educational relating to different aspects of nature, eg, plants, veg growing, animals, etc. It's so important for children to have as many opportunities as possible to get outdoors and they find it very rewarding to be involved in growing their own food and then picking and eating it at harvest time.
My son is 3 now but we've been coming here since he was a baby and we still look forward to coming here every week and getting out in the fresh air. I can't describe how much of a lifeline it was for me as a sleep deprived single mother. Just the chance to go somewhere child friendly where someone would make me a cup of tea was amazing and so appreciated! I can't thank Angie and Julie enough for providing such a brilliant club, the local community needs things like this.

Our kids love coming to little buds every week! Lots of gardening activities, crafts and games. Everyone is so friendly. Such a lovely environment!
