After being a customer for many years I had to go in for a simple card replacement. It took an excessive amount of time for staff to carry out a simple task. They also photocopied my Identification without my consent. Later-on I started getting statements and being charged for the unwanted printed statements, All the staff are ethnic minorities that work for bottom dollar and were ill resourced and untrained. I Was absolutely apaulled and shocked at the abismal service... God only knows how this terrible to deal with bank stays afloat. I have most of my banking with another banking provider and I am looking at closing my business with this poor performing sap on the New Zealand economy

I have been with the BNZ fo over 30 + years and I have never owed them any money that I haven't paid back what's been borrowed as required so I AM VERY LOW RISK
They only made 762 Million Dollars last financial year so they are really struggling.
We have a cost of living crisis as well as a recession where interest rates have more than doubled and infact tripled in some cases.
And yet as a loyal BNZ customer for many years ...when you ask them for a little help they are most UNHELPFUL.
In my case I have an investment property paying Principal and interest repayments and my payments have more than doubled and so it is a struggle to meet repayments.
I asked if I could go to an interest only arrangement for a period of time to help ease the burden of repayment.
I recieved a very stone cold, impersonal, uninterested response from the woman taking the call saying she was more worried about losing her job than helping me.
PROFITS OVER PEOPLES WELL BEING which won't harm their profits at all..
NO DOUBT MOST BANKS ARE THE SAME but I shall be looking to bank elsewhere in future.

Not good at all. I had all my correct ID and whatever I needed for application but they still declined my application for a new bank account. Weird because I used this method to sign up with ASB and ANZ, they approved it all simple and efficient with them but BNZ no way, sort it out 🤣 glad you declined because the other 2 banks are way better 🤣

only gave 1 star because there was no 0. So much drama trying to start a business account. In the end I thought we had covered all their hoops but then I go to use the account and find out they have deleted it. Their answer was, sorry, you need to start again. Are you for real???? Zero for professionalism. Why would I want you to be my trusted business partner? Rubbish!

Really disappointed with BNZ, it took three phone calls and a grumpy email to get reply from the small business team. Even when the ball was rolling it was like pulling teeth. Email after email, we had no direct phone line with the person who we were dealing with. The whole experience has left a bad taste in our mouths. We have banked with them our whole lives now looking at other options.

Best customer service and all staff are so friendly

Absolutely terrible phone menu/cust service. Have been simply trying to activate my netguard for 3 hours now and can't get past the phone menu. Won't listen to any of my prompts ("sorry we don't have enough information"). Press 3 if you would like NO music played. Press 3. Proceeds to play music. I've also been hung up on once. Unsure why. The worst experience of my life i think. Incredibly frustrating

as a loyal customer of over 15 years every time we reach out we are treated like a new customer, slow response time, and unfriendly staff. No support, no relationship and no trust. We can not wait to leave those bank.

Horrible people evil emails blocking my cards questioned my buisness transactions when they should of been welcoming them also were non compassionate with my honest an innocent replies to vicious emails and they closed my account saying I wasn't allowed to make international transactions when all banks are suppose to allow this as people all over world do it very abnormal staff behaviour .an abnormal phone calls .almost like I was picked put and purposely victimized don't ever trust your money with bnz and don't trust they're staff I'm now with world mulit currency banks who are awesome with regular transactions an international bank transfers .warning don't bank with this bank they are not very nice people in any form in fact to the point of being suspicious theyre due for a serious staff an client review not sure how many other people they've done this too but I know a few people same thing happening to them from bnz also all have since changed banks ill think bnz will close down soon they're staff are very unethical I'm a world wide Mastercard holder with unlimited credit but never would I put again my personal finances into the hand s of unprofessional s from bnz .am with new banks who are awesome as said will never refer anyone to this bank I have several digital cards also so my income streams an sources are limitless multicurrency banks are the way to go .as said forget the bnz it's really an truly behind the times and showed to me nothing but complete an utter incompetence.,when dealing with
vip customer s .pulled all my money out chopped up theyre cards threw in the bin an spat on top of them !!!!

I spend half my day dealing with deliberately slow two-factor requests from BNZ. Two of them every single time I need to send a payment. It's absolutely crazy waste of customers time without a single bit of consideration. Oh yeah 'net guard' they say, another 20 year old piece of junk.

Their customer service has no clue what so ever! Yesterday, I rang them from England asking them to help me to make a payment in NZ dollar into a Currency Exchange account with an IBAN (international bank account number). Despite me being very clear about transferring the money in NZ dollar, they converted the NZ dollar into pound and sent it to the currency exchange company! How clueless that is! Not only they charged me £120 more than what the currency exchange company had offered me for the same amount but created a whole lot of extra work and hassle for me trying to get the money transferred into my UK account! I raised the issue with them but they didn’t want to take any responsibility for their wrong advice and rip off! I have been with BNZ for 24 years but definitely will move my money to another bank with more expertise and better customer support. What a waste of time! 😡

This bank wanted me to 'prove my physical address' to them, after banking with them for 24 years, or they threatened to close my account. Now bear in mind, that thru the BNZ, I was ALSO INSURING MY HOUSE thru them. Logically then, they have my address. NOTE: they didn't even ask for proof of the address of the house I was insuring when I took out the mortgage. Nor did it occur to them, that they already know my address because the mortgage is thru them. But, like AI robotic automatons, with the oh so overused excuse of 'anti money laundering risks' ... I had to go into the bank with a JP signed proof of my address, or have my account closed. So, I decided I don't want to trust my $$ with people who dismiss critical thinking skills. This is how you treat long standing customers - by wasting our time, and asking us to take time off work to prove what you already know???

Big mismatch on how employees review the bank (4.6/5) and customers review the bank (1.6/5). Reflecting the BNZ approach of thanks for your information and we will come back to you in our

Very poor customer service. Newlynn branch is worst. Taking so long to deal with 1 customer. I think staff need more training

Most useless bank ever. Can't even get a basic app to work. Have had multiple security breaches in my account where money was taken without authorization.

Two of my clients deposited the fees into my account on Saturday last week, but the money are not there even on Monday.
So I rang up BNZ, and they said to me that they were having a problem with their system or something and they would fix it later today, with no apology whatsoever even though they have been causing such a huge problem with their customers, though it is quite normal in this backward country New Zealand where customer service is not even a "service" - pathetically so poor and unethical.

Absolutely useless bank, poor and unstable app often unable to use app.
Disappointment really.

Rubbish bank! Would not recommend to anyone. Was stuck in Christchurch and needed to access my money with card (was a Friday evening). Due to me withdrawing 2k the previous day my card was locked for 24 hours. Customer service was terrible and offered no help with no solution. I will be likely moving my account and putting my money into actual investments rather than hold it with these people. If you want access to YOUR OWN MONEY use another provider.

Worst bank ever. Their customer service is terrible. Too difficult to do anything.

Only gave one star, otherwise wouldn't be able to continue with my feedback. BNZ do NOT look after it's customers. They used to be a bank that made things happen for their customers, to now finding every excuse to make every little decision FLIPPIN IMPOSSIBLE!!! HATE the BNZ and would NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!!!
