FOUL PRODUCT/TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
Ordered twelve cans of Cutwater Espresso Martini. Delivered August 13, 2026. The date code on the cans reads MADE ON 021625âFebruary 16, 2025, meaning the product was roughly eighteen months old on arrival.
The contents were curdled, separated, and sour. I only discovered this after opening a can and taking a sip because I was so excited they arrived. I opened a second thinking I'd mis-shaken the first. Same smell, same appearance.
I reported it the day it arrived, with photos. The claim is handled by a third party called Fulproof. They denied it three times. Their stated reasons: the date code is "a production date rather than an expiration date", product that has been "consumed" isn't refundable, and my documentation was insufficient. I offered to return the remaining sealed cans for inspection. I asked repeatedly for the name of the licensed retailer that served as merchant of record for my order. Neither request was answered.
Their final position was that my complaint "may be related to the flavor or taste of the product, which can vary based on personal preference." Curdled is not a preference.
A sealed can can't be inspected without opening it, so a policy that denies claims on consumed product denies every spoilage claim by definition.
I've filed a dispute with my bank and a complaint with the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Bureau of Consumer Protection. Reading other reviews here and across other platforms, this doesn't appear to be an isolated experience. It appears to be a pattern of poor and deceitful business practice.
