Excellent, Felicity, Julie and the rest of the team were faultless, they took over the sale of my property and the purchase of the house I was buying, I could not fault them, professional but friendly and very helpful all at the same time, will be using Burton law for my next move.

I received a very good professional service from the company. They responded promptly to my queries and updated me about development at every stage.

Patricia and her team, especially Bethany were a fantastic help. Always on top of proceedings and always helpful with my many questions. Would recommend and use them in a heartbeat.

Felicity and Julie were exceptional from start to finish. Unfortunately, our buyer’s conveyancing firm went into liquidation after exchange, which created a very difficult situation. Felicity and Julie guided us through the complex process of un-exchanging and then re-exchanging contracts, which was a complete minefield. Their support, professionalism, and expertise were invaluable throughout. Absolutely phenomenal service.

Would highly recommend without hesitation

This is the 4th time that we have used Burton and Co. This time was rather more complicated due to us selling our shared ownership home and buying a new build 350 miles away. Julie in particular has been absolutely amazing. She has delivered what we needed and provided support and advice when things seemed to be going wrong. Felicity sorted out an initial problem and we have no hesitation in recommending Burton and Co.

Completed last May, still waiting for a statement to say what was paid out and a refund from ground maintenance we over paid via them. They told me to give them to July 18th 25 and now 6 months later still absolutely no communication!

The whole experience of purchasing our house was made incredibly smooth thanks to the professionalism and understanding shown by Julie and Felicity. I would definitely recommend their services

Relative passed December 2021 and this company was instructed to execute the will.
June 2023 after partial administration information received regarding a delay in full administration due to awaiting a property sale. Communication committed to providing quarterly updates - none of these materialised. Another member of the family mentioned new residents in the property, summer 2025. Cut to Autumn 2025 and subsequent requests for information regarding this from the co-executors have gone unresponded to by Richard French. Calls to the firm by the co-executor have gone unanswered for years by Richard French. Emails are responded to saying emails have been sent to him and receipt acknowledged by the admin staff.

The deceased passed away four years ago and the last contact from Richard French to the co executors was 2023. It is now 2025 and still he does not contact anybody.

How many other people have instructed him with such sensitive matters, how many other families's cash is in 'limbo' and unaccounted for - why does Mr French not respond to any communications? How many other families cannto find closure in their grief for their loved ones due to Mr French's due negligence and lack of duty of candour?

Complaints have been made to the Solictors Regulation Authority and to the Legal Ombudsman as this is completely unacceptable standard of service. This man deliberately ignores communication, some estates will be significantly high and whilst this is a small estate value it is the principle that far outweighs the monetary value. This behaviour is unconscionable and anyone considering using this firm for such a sensitive issue as adminstering a will, should exercise the utmost caution and check google reviews as well as thre are more complaints there about lack of satisfactory service particularly by this individual.

Whilst it is not possible to give a rating of zero, the one is for the initial progress he made from 2021 to 2023 in completing some of the work he was instructed to. From 2023 to current date the lack of contact and continued ignorance of contact is beyond diabolical, falls way below the standard expected of such a reputed firm (particularly individuals within it who succesfully sell property and offer amazing service as per the other reviews on google) and as such this man Richard French is to be avoided at all costs.

If you want more stress and frustration in addition to your grief, by all means instruct Richard French.

Upon successful remedy of this situation this review can and may be amended in future to reflect the efforts.
