Misleading storefront and missing roasting dates


I ordered from Café du Jour via what appeared to be their local Portuguese website. It turns out the company is actually based in the Netherlands, which meant the delivery took much longer than anticipated.
The biggest problem, however, was with the 2 kg of Passalacqua coffee I purchased. While the technical sell-by date was fine (marked for 2027), the packaging completely lacked a roasting date. I haven't been able to extract a proper crema from these beans, which I attribute directly to their unknown age. Optimal crema is generally only achievable when coffee is no more than six months off the roast. A distant expiration date isn't helpful if you have no idea when the beans were actually produced.
For a specialty company that caters to coffee lovers, omitting the roasting date leaves the buyer completely in the dark. Disappointing experience overall.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and we're sorry the coffee didn't meet your expectations.

You're right that the Passalacqua packaging doesn't show a roasting date. Passalacqua is an Italian brand that we purchase from our supplier, so for these beans we depend on what the supplier delivers and how they label it. We have no influence on the roasting date or on what is printed on the bag.

If fresh roasted coffee is important to you, and we understand completely why it is, we recommend trying the coffee from our own roastery. We roast the Café du Jour coffee ourselves in the Netherlands and always ship it freshly roasted, so you know exactly what you're getting.

About the delivery: we operate from the Netherlands and ship to customers across Europe through our local websites. We're sorry the delivery time was longer than you expected, and we'll take a look at how we can make this clearer on our Portuguese site.

Excellent café fraîchement torréfié et service rapide

C’est la première fois que je passe commande chez Café du Jour. J’ai choisi trois sortes de café afin de les tester et de trouver celui qui me convient le mieux.
La préparation de la commande ainsi que l’expédition ont été très rapides. Le café est fraîchement torréfié et, point particulièrement appréciable, Café du Jour fait partie des rares vendeurs qui indiquent clairement la date de torréfaction sur l’emballage.
Les sachets sont hermétiquement fermés et bien conçus pour préserver au maximum la fraîcheur et les arômes du café.

Je suis très satisfait de cette première expérience. Je recommande vivement Café du Jour et je passerai certainement une nouvelle commande prochainement.

Lekkere koffie en betaalbaar!

Maar is rond gaan kijken voor andere koffie. Hier zijn de soorten koffie nog betaalbaar en scherp geprijsd.
Meteen maar 5 soorten besteld, geen spijt van de eerste soort smaakt super.
