Simple as this - I booked In Terminal Airport Pick Up via Opodo with Sixt. I checked this with Sixt directly and it is not in the airport but in depot miles away where you queue endlessly on a Friday evening, I spent 50 minutes on the phone to Opodo who seem to be Car Trawler as well, and the manager said, sorry you have to pay 40 Euro extra and then later when I said this is simply Mis selling which is illegal, then he said no one is available to provide you with a car in the terminal and all I can do is cancel the booking. Terrible customer service, such a shame I used to use Opodo NEVER AGAIN

Besides the Prime membership scam, Opodo is now scamming customers by changing their ticket classes. I booked a business class ticket for approximately £94, which was about £3 cheaper than other apps (around £97). However, instead of receiving the business class ticket I paid for, they issued me an economy class ticket, even though the economy fare is clearly £64.

I contacted customer service and submitted a complaint form with all the supporting evidence, but their response stated that the booking could not be changed and no refund would be issued. In the end, my attempt to save £3 ended up costing me £30.

Avoid this company at all costs, they scam customers by changing ticket classes.

Avoid like the plague! Make yourself a favour and go anywhere else. Their car hire partner are the worse I had ever come across and Opodo washes their hands off them. DO NOT USE THEM!

What I searched:
Tenerife South Airport, pick-up 8 Nov 2025 10:00, drop-off 29 Nov 2025 10:00 (EUR).
Mini – Hybrid (Fiat Panda Hybrid or similar), Record go (rating 7.8).
Manual, Full-to-Full, unlimited mileage, damage & theft coverage, in-terminal pick-up.
“Hybrid” filter on both searches.

What I found (same session, same parameters):
• Standard (non-Prime): €308.61 for 21 days (shown “-15%” from €361.53).
• Prime: €376.81 for 21 days (shown “-€57” from €433.57).
• Prime difference: +€68.20 vs the standard price.

Why this matters:
A membership labelled as a “discount” should not surface a higher price for the identical product at the same time. That erodes confidence in the pricing logic and the value proposition of the subscription.

Constructive recommendations for Opodo:

Guarantee parity or better: If Prime ever displays higher than standard for the same SKU, auto-apply the lower price at checkout.

Transparent comparison: Show “Prime vs Standard” side-by-side with clear totals (incl. taxes/fees) before payment.

Audit & alerts: Run automated checks that flag and block Prime prices exceeding standard for the same supplier/product.

Plain-English disclosures: State when “Prime benefits do not apply to this result” instead of presenting it as discounted.

Helpful checks for other customers (do these before paying for any membership):
• Compare logged-out vs logged-in (Prime) prices on the same car and times.
• Clear cache or use a private window and repeat the comparison.
• Confirm totals with all mandatory fees/insurance included.
• Screenshot everything (results page and checkout page) and verify the supplier, fuel policy, mileage, and coverage are identical.
• If Prime isn’t cheaper, don’t use it for that booking.

Action I took:
I cancelled the subscription. In my case, Prime presented a higher price than the standard route for the same product. That’s the opposite of the advertised benefit.

Bottom line:
Opodo Prime needs robust price-parity controls and clearer disclosures. Until then, treat Prime as “verify-before-you-pay”: if it isn’t cheaper on your exact basket, skip it.

Never ever book a car with these clowns as they get it wrong and don't issue a refund. Let this be a warning use a reputable company . Customer service is appalling.

Absolutely shocking company which need to be investigated for scam. I booked a car and the email booking never came. I went to collect and there was no booming and they refused to refund as they said i didnt collect. I had to book another car in the airport and i paid more expensive. Poor customer service and that's called stealing!!

Absolutely terrible. The company scammed £300 for simply not preparing a matching credit card with the driver and avoiding all responsibilities when I call them. AVOID AT ALL COST.

Awful company, now part of eDreams which i didn't know. Booked a car, they never sent an email confirmation, never had that before. Their customer service doesn't really exist, when i emailled they just sent an automated message to go to the website (which didn't help), no online chat function that i could find, i wasted a lot of time trying. Managed to directly contact the car hire company to get the reservation codes. I won't use Opodo again, all the other car hire comparison sites I've used have been very professional.

How unaccomodating both Opodo and Suprice were as my credit card wasn’t ‘embossed’ so I had to buy a whole new insurance and throw away another £300, bearing in mind I’m 30 weeks pregnant and needed to get to an event. Gave us a the worst car they could find. Car hire place was so far away. Staff were rude and careless. Why on EARTH was a non-embossed card not mentioned when booking???? If it was that important. Absolutely horrific from you all.

I originally booked a flight and hotel together through Opodo in October 2023. The flight was invalid — the airline had no record of my ticket — and I was unable to use the hotel as a result. After months of contacting customer service without success, I filed a small claim through HMCTS Money Claim Online.

The case resulted in Opodo admitting full liability, and I received my full refund on 29 September 2025.

I’m relieved the matter is now resolved, but it took legal action to get there. Other customers facing similar issues can learn more from public consumer discussions (for example, the “Opodo / eDreams Class Action Lawsuit” group on Facebook).

Hopefully, Opodo improves their refund process so others don’t have to go through this.

I will never use Opodo again. We booked two cars through Opodo at Malaga Airport, fully prepaid, with all insurance and cover already included: CDW, Theft Waiver, Third Party Liability, breakdown assistance, unlimited mileage, taxes and airport fees. The only item excluded was the excess.

At the Avis desk the contracts even show the line “Optional Services Acceptance Signature” left blank, proving we did not agree to anything else. Still, Avis later charged us hundreds of pounds for “optional insurance” that was already included.

We raised this with Opodo, expecting support. Instead, Opodo sided with Avis. Their customer service simply repeated that because we signed on Avis’s tablet (a blank white screen, without showing what we were authorising), they will not help us. They ignored all the evidence we provided: the prepaid vouchers, the unsigned contracts, and the bank charges.

A quick search shows dozens of other victims reporting the same scam at Avis Malaga. Instead of protecting their customers, Opodo hides behind Avis’s documents and leaves you on your own.

Opodo is not a trustworthy company. They take your money, then when the rental company cheats you, they wash their hands of it. We have already filed disputes with our banks and consumer authorities, but we want to warn others: do not book through Opodo.

Guys, we all on this app. I’ve been defrauded by Apodo and I think it’s about time we get watchdog and paranormal involve in this case to figure out because I believe this company is a fraud and they are using it as a cover to collect people money and get away with it, and that it’s not on they are setting up company mentioning no culture but they are doing this and the fraud people using company as a background to scam working hard people and collecting their money and do not give refund so if you want to give them your money go ahead but I will be on here every week warning people about these company. I just hope that people check the review before booking with them again in the future.

Do not book with Opodo! Absolute scam. We booked long distance flights. The airline changed our flights. It’s the task of the travel agency to ensure new reasonable flights with the airline. They simply said we have to do it ourselves. We did so, but they are not even able to make any adjustments as it was Opodo to rebook the new flights. After an eternal back and fourth we decided to request a cancellation. Opodo claimed they requested this to the airline and that this would take 30 days. We reached out to the airline and they told us nothing was requested. CRIMINAL behaviour is the only right way to describe this. Lie after lie. 4.000 EUR stolen.

Don’t book with them if you don’t want to lose your money.

I travel a fair amount and I compare prices everywhere, to the point it annoys my wife that I take too long to book holidays and travel. I reluctantly took this for a trip that we took to go to Perast in Montenegro last year. Since then I have felt like I "should" use my membership and annoyingly it is broadly inline with Expedia, Kayak or other similar search engines for pricing. Therefore this "Prime" membership is simply a Con. To compound this, I saw that they took £99.99 from my account this morning and when I rang to cancel this policy, I was offered Travel Vouchers to the tune of £90 as a valued customer ( i am not a valued customer) this is a clear tactic of a company that knows they offer an inferior service and therefore does not provide a "prime" service. When I stated that i wanted a refund, they refused. Thankfully i paid on my credit card (this is a must btw) i shall just speak to them and they will refund me. I urge you not to be lured into this SCAM that they are running and book elsewhere and do not use OPODO again.

Booked a car through this company and paid for updated insurance

Arrived to pick it up only to be told that they would take £1800 as a deposit and put a credit card hold for another £6100 - which would be refunded after a month - I have NEVER heard such nonsense
I could have bought a car outright for that amount!

Nothing was said about this in any of my service agreements or terms and conditions

Bloody scandalous

Currently seeing these reviews and wishing I had seen these before I took a rental out with Opodo.
When I arrived to get my rental, there was only an electric car available. This was unsuitable as we were driving 300+ miles to a remote island in Scotland. I was told by sixt there was no other cars available. I rang opodo in a flat panic as we were supposed to be travelling that afternoon and they were useless, said there was nothing they could do as the hire had already started. I have been going back and forth for weeks and they keep finding new ways to annoy me and prolong sorting this out.
Asking me such things as what time was my flight arriving… I didn’t get a flight.
Asking me to prove what time I arrived at the car rental desk…. I have no proof of my arrival time and asked them to check the cctv at the car hire.
Due to me not being able to prove my arrival time, they keep saying they will have to close my complaint down.
THEY HAVE TAKEN £508 AND FAILED TO PROVIDE A SUITABLE VEHICLE. Why this isn’t a straightforward refund is beyond me. We paid for something and received nothing. Better still, it cost us an extra grand getting a car last minute from another provider AND we lost a days holiday because we couldn’t drive up on the day we planned to.
They have been so unhelpful it’s unbelievable.
Flight or no flight, regardless of arrival time, there was no suitable car for us to hire. They are awful and have caused me so much stress.
I have no faith in them that this will be resolved. They keep trying to find new ways to wiggle out of dealing with me.

Not sure what the next steps are now, I just want the money back. No car was used, so where exactly is the money!?

Booked a car with opodo with hertz. When I turned up it turned out hertz had no cars and were sold out. They claimed opodo should never have made the booking. They took the money anyway. I’m still trying to get the money back from opodo

Do not use this company, booked with them. Car to be picked up 11am, email from the hire company cancelling at 10:45. Wife and child stranded and could not get through to Opodo for 2 hours. Then had to spend extra £1000 to hire another car. Then had to fight to get my refund from Opodo. Horrendous experience and terrible company. AVOID

Opodo still got my money and ignore to refund.
They are just wasting time after my review on trust pilot they have all my info and put the phone down every time I call. Also no reply of letter or emails.
Manager Ahmad Khan asked me to transfer deposit money into his colleagues account by the name of Naheed Anwar.
I have proof of transaction and communication they carried out with me.
Their front man is called Mike ( don't think real name )
