I wish I had read these reviews before booking a car with Dollar (Hertz) through EasyJet.
I paid extra for AXA insurance, which clearly stated I shouldn’t have to pay anything additional at the rental desk because I was fully covered.
When I arrived, however, the agent insisted I either buy their own €374 insurance for a small car I had rented for about €130, or allow them to block £2,500 on my credit card.
He told me, “Your insurance has nothing to do with us. Whatever happens to the car, you’ll have to pay us first and then sort it out with them when you’re back.”
It was 11 p.m., they were about to close, and I had no time to argue. I ended up leaving without the car and taking an Uber from Faro Airport to Lagos, which cost me €66.
EasyJet refused any claim and kept my €250 for the car and insurance.
In the end, I spent my trip using Uber—it was cheaper and completely hassle-free. And just to be clear, I speak Portuguese, so I fully understood the pressure tactics being used.
This is a scam, plain and simple.
Avoid booking cars with easyjet car rentals
Worst experience booking a car direct with easyjet with abbycar rentals in Greece.
We got a flat tyre and after going to put the spare on we soon discovered was flat also....which meant me and my friend were 2 stranded females very late at night.
We called easyjet who made multiple attempts to contact abbycar along with all of the attempts we made and no answer and no recovery options, we left a voicemail and emailed and nothing (not even the next day did they contact us back) even more disappointing we were told by easy jet they didn't even know what to do and we were promised multiple times to be called back that evening...but no call back...we were left to figure it out for ourselves
We ended up having to walk miles late at night to find help, then even the next day tried to contact abbycar with no luck again and had to drive 160km on the spare to the airport which is pretty dangerous.
Even when we dropped the car off to the other airport in Crete the lady was very unhelpful and didnt really seem to care!

J'ai personnellement loué une voiture dans une agence locale (pas question de donner plus d'argent à ces escrocs). Je tente depuis 8 semaines d'obtenir un remboursement au motif que le loueur indiqué n'était pas sur le site mais entre "les messages non reçus" et l'absence de réponse quand je prouve la bonne réception des messages...c'est assez hallucinant surtout que l'on ne trouve nulle part des conseils afin d'attaquer cette société pour ses méthodes "commerciales"

Trap er niet in! Dit bedrijf is het toonbeeld van klantonvriendelijkheid en misleiding. Net als zovelen ben ik erin getuind door een onduidelijk en vals boekingsproces. De stroom aan negatieve recensies is geen toeval: ze houden de voorwaarden bewust vaag en schuiven na afloop alle verantwoordelijkheid af, zogenaamd omdat het “ergens in een mailtje” zou staan.Dit is geen slordigheid, maar bewust beleid om mensen op te lichten. Klanten worden in de val gelokt en afgepoeierd met standaard antwoorden. Met zulke praktijken hoort dit bedrijf niet thuis op de markt.Ga hier niet mee in zee en deel vooral jouw ervaring, zodat anderen niet in dezelfde val trappen!

Clearly now having seen the many reviews before mine Easyjet are complicit in illegal activity. We booked through Easyjet and on arrival in Croatia found their supplier, Avant Car, immediately had a charge to take the car to an Island (we stayed on Brac). Worse was to come as having looked after the car as I would my own Avantcar identified some minor scrates on the uderside of the front bumper. I refused to accept responsibilty as I had not casued them but they chared my credit card £603 even without authority. On retrun to the UK I find Avantcar and Easyjet both have reviews as bad as they get and can se previous customers of Avantcar have been charged for what appear to the exact same damage. Use the samll claims courts people as Easyjet need to be taken to task!

Ayant eu un retard de vol à cause des grèves et pas d internet sur mon téléphone à l’arrivée à l aéroport je n ai pas pu répondre au chauffeur qui m avait laissé un message sur whatsapp (bien sûr en arrivant ce n est pas la première chose que je fais quand on a tout les contrôles de sécurité )pendant que j étais en vol et je ne l ai vu qu en arrivant beaucoup plus tard
Donc le chauffeur n étant pas là à notre arrivéj j essai de contacter le service client qui essai de le contacter mais toujours pas de chauffeur 2 h après
j ai donc annulé au bout de 2 h d attente et de recherche de l agence introuvable
EasyJet ne rembourse pas même quand ce n est pas votre faute et demande des justificatifs (qu alors c est leur compagnie qui doivent leur fournir le retard de vol)
Très déçu je ne reprendrai pas de location avec EasyJet la prochaine fois

I would rate 0 stars if I could. We tried to book a car on easy jet car. The payment failed 3 times (error message online). Or so we thought … I noticed 3 payments had come off my account. I had already booked with someone else given I could not get a booking with easyJet. Therefore, all I could do was cancel all the bookings. They then had the audacity to charge me a cancellation fee for cancelling when it was THIER FAULT. Now I’m out £100 when I did not even book anything.
Car hire via EasyJet - Never Again!
I booked flight and car hire via EasyJet to make life easy - but never again! When my flight was delayed, EasyJet sent me a message to contact their car hire number, which is operated by CarTrawler. They updated my car hire booking but said there was a £56 change fee that I needed to pay there and then, but which would be refunded within 5 days. 11 days later there is no sign of the refund. They have sent me a transaction receipt confirming the refund, and advised me to contact my bank, which I have. All in all I have spent 2 hours on calls and web chats and still have not received the £56 refund. Far, far too much hassle! I booked car hire through EasyJet to make it easy - never again!!

A scam
A scam. We booked car rental with Easy Jet. The booking was called Easy Jet car rentals. It wasn't. Car trawler oversee but neither Easy Jet nor Car trawler take any responsibility for the car dealer who you do not know until you arrive at your destination and find out it is not Easy jet! We found out it was not the car we ordered nor was it like for like it was a battered and beat up old car with broken tail lights. There was no other car available It cost us a fortune and it seems that the Credit card deposit which is waivered on returning the car was actually taken straight away! So we couldn't even go elsewhere having paid up front for the car and the border passes. Next we found out where the windscreen wiper lever should be It wasn't, there was a hole. So stranded with Easy Jet denying responsibility. But Easy Jet took our money and not only that charged us twice. Fortunately I noticed and got the cost of the second car refunded.
Nevertheless we have no driveable car and are £900 down and stranded.

Stelletje oplichters met idd wat je in alle reviews leest "voornaam op creditcard" pure onzin en oplichterij, ik moest een extra verzekering aanschaffen terwijl ik die al bij Axa had afgesloten. Dat kon wel met mijn creditcard, mooi niet gedaan. Pure oplichterij. Ik snap ook niet dat easyjet hier zaken mee doet.

L'agence de location, pourtant en lien avec easyjet, a refusé de m'attendre pour un retard de 2heures 7min (comme bien précisé par easyjet)!!!!!
L'agence Rentscape ferme à 20h....donc plus de voiture à mon arrivée. J'ai du dormir à l'hôtel et ai perdu une soirée en famille que je vois rarement. Mais tout cela a peu d'importance aux yeux de ces entreprises.
Il ne parle que finance et ne tiennent pas compte des préjudices mentaux. Pas de place pour l'humain et pas de remboursement possible au vu du retard de "seulement" 2heures et 7min (loi Sturgeon)
Rip off car hire…
On the whole I find EasyJet a reliable airline, but avoid their car hire at all costs. The third party companies they use try and rip you off at any opportunity, including “mandatory” fees for motorway use when there are no toll charges, inflated charges for extremely minor damage and threatening a call out charge of €500 for a broken down vehicle if we don’t take out their breakdown coverage (even if the breakdown isn’t our fault). I’m really surprised EasyJet don’t vet these companies properly, it’s damaging the EJ brand and I will never rent a car through them again

Deeply disappointing experience with EasyJet and car hire
I recently had an unpleasant experience with EasyJet which left me not only inconvenienced but also financially out of pocket.
My EasyJet flight was delayed, and by the time I arrived at my destination, the car hire desk I had booked through EasyJet was closed. I later learned that this particular car hire company closes every day at 23:00, regardless of delays — something EasyJet should have been well aware of. Yet EasyJet still sold me a car hire package with a pick-up time after the desk had already closed.
To make matters worse, EasyJet subsequently charged me an additional €45 as an "out of hours" pick-up fee. This felt completely unreasonable, as the desk would have been closed anyway, delay or not. Ultimately, I lost money on a booking I couldn’t use, through no fault of my own.
It is extremely disappointing that EasyJet would sell a service they know cannot realistically be provided, and then add further charges on top of that. Customers should be able to trust that when they book through EasyJet, they will not be set up to fail.
I expected far better from a major airline. Transparency and accountability are essential — EasyJet fell short on both.
Dishonest
Dishonest scammers. I booked a rental a car with them at Tivat airport, Montenegro. I paid in full, in advance. Everything through their website. Even I got to the desk, they told me my reservation was cancelled because “I was late”. And they offered me a more expensive way older car!! When I got in touch with EasyJet support they refused to refund me. Never had this elsewhere, ever.
