Edge Craft/Chef's Choice 1520 Angle Select electric knife sharpener review:
The paper thin abrasive discs are not replaceable. They wear out quickly. After much effort I reached a, obviously offshore, customer service rep at Legacy Corporation, the international conglomerate that gobbled up EdgeCraft.
The dics are not even available to try to replace yourself. The rep eventually offered me 15% off a new sharpener. This is a scam. Think: buying a car and throwing it out at the first oil change. Never again.

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with an incident that occurred at your outlet today. At around 7:40 PM, I visited your Pama Supermarket to purchase some meat for an evening gathering. Unfortunately, I had an unpleasant encounter with one of your staff members, named Bikal. His behavior towards me was extremely rude and disrespectful, making me feel as though I was begging for something. This kind of treatment is unacceptable and not the level of service I expect from your supermarket.

I request that you kindly address this issue and provide your staff with proper customer service training to ensure they treat customers with respect and professionalism.

Unable to get in contact with the company, either by email, chat, or (God forbid) a phone call. When I fill out the required form, it asks for information that has no relevance to my question.

My $179 electric knife sharpener would only grind on one side. I told the company. They made me send six photos and two videos across eleven emails. Then they had me destroy my current sharpener, send more photos, and ask me to pay for the shipping of the new unit.

They would not provide a secure payment option like the original checkout. Giving my card information over the phone wasn’t worth the risk for such a disreputable company, so I could not replace my unit under warranty without risking credit card fraud.

They make it near impossible for anyone who doesn’t want to invest hours into the process or give their card information to a stranger over the phone.

I would recommend going with another company whenever possible. Zwilling and Wusthof both make knife sharpeners and are much more reputable.

I need a pinion gear that is never available. They will not respond to questions. They have a complaint form but it is never available to fill out. The parts and customer service are non existent. I paid a lot of money for a slicer that I cannot repair and has been used 5 times. Not a product or company I would recommend.

On the whole an expensive but good product. Chef’s Choice 1520. The significant problem with buying this in the UK is that there is no repair offered by the UK distributor Dexam. The sharpening stones will eventually wear out. At present you would be expected to buy a new unit. This is too much of a cost to the environment let alone to the pocket. As such I won’t buy another one unless there is a supplier who offers repairs in the UK

I was given a sharpener from my gf for Christmas. Upon opening the package, I realized that it was missing one of the rubber feet. I submitted a support request on January 16th, 2021. Jan 28th I sent another email asking for an update. And another Feb 8th. And then another on Feb 26, which sent me an automatic response back with a NEW support case number, meaning they just closed out my initial one without ever reaching out to me. That was 8 days ago, and I still haven't heard anything.

Calling the support number leads to me being placed on hold for 10 minutes, then the automated phone system says "No one is available at this time, goodbye." And then hangs up the call.

This whole experienced has completely turned me off from Chef's Choice and I will likely avoid purchasing from them in the future. I've never even used the sharpener because it's too unstable to pull a knife through.

EDIT: THEY FINALLY GOT BACK TO ME! It took them one day shy of two months to respond. Very frustrating, but they have no issue with supplying a rubber foot at no additional cost. I'll add one star for being helpful and offering to get the replacement part to me.

I have nothing but praise for this company. I ordered a knife sharpener as a Christmas present, and when I received it, it was not what I expected. I was pretty concerned and emailed the company, and within a couple of days they delivered a brand spanking new sharpener. The people I dealt with, Jeffrey and Stacy, were super helpful and kind and really took care of the issue. Super company.

This sharpener works well. The three sharpening wheels allows you to sharpen very dull knives in position one, and maintain them in position 2 and 3/ After you use this sharpener, you must be very careful with your knives. Mine were sharper than they were when they were new, and I cut myself twice with just a touch of the blade.
