As someone who lives in a Churchill Lodge elsewhere in the country, we are lucky enough to be able to stay in the guest room of any other Churchill Lodge in the country for a very reasonable fee.

When I heard that Austen Lodge was opening in Basingstoke, I was very pleased, as I used to live in the town some 25 years ago, and one of my sons still lives there. I was one of the first to stay in the en suite guest room when the Lodge opened in 2023, and was very impressed right from the start as it is very spacious and comfortable.

However, an extra thank you to Steve, the Lodge Manager who has added a few touches to the room which have made a big difference to comfort there. It is so helpful to have a mini fridge to put things like milk and yogurt in, and even an instant meal which can then be heated in the microwave downstairs in the kitchen.

I stayed recently to be able to visit my son in hospital for just over a week, and it made things so much easier for me, being able to stay there at such a difficult time.

We stayed for 3 nights in the guest suite at Grace Lodge, Thornbury whilst visiting for my father’s funeral.
The room was spotlessly clean, with fresh flowers which was a nice touch.
A big thank you to Tracy the facility manager for making everything just right for us at a difficult time, and making sure all our needs were catered for.

We had a really positive experience at Spitfire Lodge while attending with my parents. Tammy, the lodge manager, was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and professional throughout our visit. She was very patient while we waited for the sales executive to finish up her appointment and made us feel comfortable and looked after the whole time.

Tammy was also very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions we had about the lodge and the process, which really helped put us at ease. Her approachable manner and excellent customer service made a great impression on us.

Overall, a lovely experience thanks to Tammy’s professionalism and warm attitude. We would definitely recommend Spitfire Lodge to others, the building is kept clean, tidy and is in excellent condition, the gardens are great! We have moved forward with the process to make Spitfire a forever home for my parents knowing they will have a safe place to live and such a friendly lodge manager makes me feel we have made the right decision.

Outstanding Lodge Manager – Truly Above and Beyond
I would like to leave this review specifically for the Lodge Manager, Nichola Ruff, at Chelmer Lodge in Chelmsford, rather than for Churchill as a company, as this reflects her personal dedication and care.
My mother has lived at Chelmer Lodge for over ten years and has seen several managers come and go during that time. However, in the past six months, as her health has deteriorated, Nichola has been nothing short of exceptional.
Due to increasing weakness, my mother has suffered a number of falls in her flat. Nichola has consistently stepped in to support her in ways that go far beyond what would normally be expected in her role. While I appreciate there are limits to what a Lodge Manager is required to do, Nichola has shown genuine compassion and humanity by helping my mother with personal care when she has needed it most.
She has stayed with my mother while paramedics have attended, ensuring she was not alone and providing reassurance during difficult moments. She has also responded to calls outside of her working hours when my mother has fallen, which is something I will always be grateful for.
I live over an hour and a half away, and knowing that Nichola is there, keeping an eye on my mother and stepping in when needed, has given me enormous peace of mind.
Nichola, if you happen to read this—thank you. Your kindness, dedication, and willingness to go above and beyond truly make a difference.

Dad has recently moved into Connecticut Lodge in Hertford Town. From the first visit to view the apartments, brunch & bubbles event, we were made to feel extremely welcome. Amanda, the sales rep, is such a lovely genuine lady. She made us feel at home straight away and explained the whole process and all the lodge information.

We visit mum at Atkins Lodge in Orpington and have greatly enjoyed our five night stay in the guest suite. Thanks to Diana who is the Lodge Manager there and made sure that we were comfortable. What a lovely place to stay!

I have been working with Stuart McNamara for 2 years now and he has been a pleasure to work with. His care and commitment to the owners at Coronation Lodge is outstanding. Nothing is too much trouble and the Owners feel his support and kindness daily.

Mother moved in to Invicta Lodge and was the best decision we made. Invicta Lodge has a real community feel taking away any feelings of isolation and enabling mum to keep her independence. The buying experience was made very easy by Lorraine and the Aimee the lodge manager is just so lovely and kind to all the residents.

All of these five stars are for Vivien. Welcoming, helpful, knowledgeable, nothing too much trouble. Carries out her responsibilities seamlessly. Always on the ball when things are not up to scratch and goes the extra mile to put it right. Can't wait to move in to Spitfire Lodge.

Went to visit the new apartments in Hertford with a view to taking my mum to see them . Greeted and welcomed so warmly by Amanda who showed me around . I absolutely love the apartments and the communal room, plus the very smart guest suite. They are in a great spot in Hertford with everything you need nearby . If my mum won’t move in, then I will !

My mum and I had an appointment with Gail R, Branch Manager at Churchill Living in Diss today. We welcomed the opportunity to meet with Gail as part of my mum’s introduction to Churchill, she will be moving into an apartment in another branch soon and this was a convenient way to achieve this induction.
We were immediately welcomed by Gail and her warm and professional attitude was instantly calming to us both. My mum has been looking to move for a while and we were both a little apprehensive about this ‘interview’ but need not have been. The Diss location is beautifully designed with a calm palette, lovely communal lounge and carefully chosen interior accessories and stunning local photos. The gardens and adjoining houses make this a very attractive location for elderly people; it feels safe.
Gail’s friendly, calm and supportive approach meant the interview was a really enjoyable experience- like catching up with a friend. She carefully went through all of the essential info with my mum and reassured us both that Churchill Living is the very best choice for my mum’s next chapter having lost my dear dad 18 months ago. Gail was simply a wonder and we both want to show our appreciation and thanks.

The Lodge is very close to my daughter
The guest suite is very nice and comfortable within walking distance of the Main Street with everything you need
The Abbey is magnificent and the service on Easter Day was very special

I moved into Riverain Lodge on Jan 27th 2026 having downsized from a 3/4 bed house in Pembrokeshire to a 1 bed apartment! My house sale took many months to go through but I was supported all the way by Aimee at Riverain . The Selling Made Easy package took away a lot of the stress of dealing with estate agents & solicitors as Aimee kept me in touch almost daily with anything that was happening. I exchanged contracts & completed all on the same day which would have been a nightmare sorting out the removal but all that was organised by Churchill. I am now getting happily settled & the lodge manager Helena is on hand for any questions I have & Aimee has helped me familiarise myself with delights of Taunton!!! I am so pleased I made the move.

Visited Bournemouth Lodge in Tonbridge today. This was the third Churchill premises I’ve visited in Kent. Lisa who welcomed me and provided lots of information and ideas was extremely helpful. Barry the Lodge manager was also very polite and enthusiastic which was nice to see. Seriously considering.

Stayed one night at St Mary's lodge in Birchington on Sea. Beautiful room, very clean, tidy and comfortable. The manager was very helpful and made me feel at home.

A very relaxing stay

Our Parents moved into Concorde Lodge Bristol in 2013, when the apartments were new. They were very happy at the independent living home and enjoyed the daily activities laid on by the Manager. We were very happy that our parents were in a safe environment as they were both in their eighties. We were and have always been happy with the site manager, Jon has been there since the start and has supported both our parents during their time there, and also supported us as well, helping with the selling of the apartment. Thank you.

It was nice to meet the residents and lovely host Lodge Manager Katie at St Giles Lodge on Friday .
Visiting with the pop up shop the residents enjoyed trying and purchasing the goods on offer as well as the sweet treats and beverages on offer .
Thank you for your warm welcome and hospitality .
The Lodge is a wonderful place in a vibrant town and it was great to be back in Tonbridge again .
