I used Comptons for my statutory lease extension. My experience with Comptons generally has just been fantastic. From the start, Comptons helped me explore different options and gave clear, trustworthy guidance. Undertaking the statutory lease extension process with Comptons was a lot less stressful than I had anticipated. They were to reply, transparent and helpful with next steps. We secured the lease extension for a reasonable price, avoided protracted delays with our landlord and they even pushed back on the landlords fees. I can't recommend Comptons highly enough!

I cannot recommend Susanna Levingstone at Comptons Solicitors highly enough.

As a first-time buyer purchasing a leasehold flat with a few complexities, I really needed a solicitor who would be thorough, proactive, and fully protective of my interests — and Susanna was exactly that. She worked with real vigour and exceptional attention to detail, carefully reviewing everything and ensuring that nothing was overlooked.

Her communication was very good — she consistently copied me into correspondence to keep me informed of progress and responded promptly whenever I had questions. This gave me real confidence and peace of mind throughout the process.

I used Comptons for all our three transactions in 2022 and were delighted with the service offered by Daniel Gower and his paralegal Philip Hitchcox. For this reason, I went back to this law firm to help me and my partner with our wills and lasting powers of attorney, as well as those of my sister. It all started on the wrong foot with draft documents bearing our old address, followed by a misspelled surname, no instruction given about the dating of the LPAs, misspelled address, omissions, etc. and even my sister’s date of birth not properly recorded, and incorrect information of her beneficiaries. They even omitted to send my sister her draft will. The solicitor dealing with us even attempted to use me as a third person liaising with my sister for him, but I pointed out to him that my sister was his client and he had the responsibility to talk to her directly and not through me. We still don’t know if our LPAs have been submitted for registration and are waiting to hear from them so we can settle our fee for this work. It has been such a bad experience it isn’t true. I emailed the managing partner to give him our feedback, hoping he would do something to help, but I haven’t heard from him after 3 weeks. We all just wish to finish the business with them ASAP.

Comptons were representing the buyers of my property. These clowns did not even look at the buyers finances for THREE MONTHS. Turns out Comptons won’t deal with South African Rand so they have wasted 3 months of everybody's time including their own client! If you are instructed by a South African client and you don’t deal with South Africa, how long does it take to join the dots? Completely unprofessional outfit.

Comptons were so brilliant in helping us sell and purchase concurrently.
They were so quick to get back to us about any worries we had and always kept us up to date with any movements which is reassuring when this process can be stressful.

This company I used over 20 years ago for conveyancing with house purchase. Times has moved on and once again I went back to Compton’s for the purchase of my flat. No change with this firm professional, thorough and very competent. The purchase was completed to my great satisfaction and I would not hesitate to use them again.

We are trying to purchase a flat during a quick sale. The seller's agent recommended Daniel Gower from Comptons, saying that a responsive solicitor is critical for a quick transaction.

Indeed, Daniel and his team were super-responsive. Sometimes, he even answers emails on weekends!

Daniel also has admirable integrity. We had to change solicitor (since the commercial mortgage lender requires specific solicitor panels and Comptons is not on this particular panel). Daniel graciously allowed me to transfer without imposing charges. In fact, he has already done work for me (e.g. answering my questions). Yet, he still chose to not charge me (since he "had not looked at my search pack results"). Amazing graciousness.

Overall, Daniel Gower is superb.

Comptons and James Compton in particular are top notch. Clever, reliable and very competent. Highly recommended for anything complicated.

Great support through a difficult sale / purchase

Amardeep from Comptons led on the conveyancing for the sale of my flat in Highgate and purchase of a new property. Throughout what ended up being a drawn-out and difficult sale (not through any fault of Comptons) Amardeep was clear and communicative, responding promptly to any queries I raised and turning around the documentation efficiently to drive progress. He provided good advice when the transaction got complicated and went above and beyond to chase and resolve complications on the actual day of completion. I always felt I knew what was going on and would recommend to anyone needing conveyancing services in the area.

We had a fantastic experience with Daniel Gower regarding the purchase of our first home. Not only was Daniel thorough, proactive, and incredibly responsive, but his empathy and patience made the inherently terrifying process of buying one's first home so much better.
