I am trying to get a reply from you, conveyancing-solicitor, since the email to the address on your website bounced back.
Your reply to another disgruntled customer says that solicitors don't have their own new business teams, so how come that I received a quote (sadly half a day too late) from the solicitor I asked you to instruct minus the £150 opening file fee?
Happy to take this private if you provide me with a working email address.

I recently signed up with PCS Legal and had an excellent experience, largely down to Shane Bola. He was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to walk me through everything clearly, answering all my questions with patience and care. It’s thanks to Shane’s expertise and approach that I felt confident signing up with the firm. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a team that genuinely takes the time to get things right.

Utter scam artists
Utter scam artists. I submitted a request for quotes for conveyancing using the Home Owners Alliance comparison tool. I was given a quote by ‘NPS Law’ but then when I clicked through to instruct NPS, I was contacted in fact by conveyancing-solicitor.co.uk who took £150 from me…for what? For absolutely nothing. I then had to pay £100 on account with the actual solicitor. I was assured the £150 to conveyancing-solicitor would be taken off my final bill but it wasn’t. Conveyancing-solicitor seems to be a completely pointless intermediary who some solicitors have nonetheless allowed into their workflows seemingly just to scam more money out of people. Do not pay them any money!!!

We would like to reassure you that we operate in a highly regulated industry, working with SRA and CLC-regulated law firms across the UK, and every aspect of our process is approved by the partners of the law firms we work with. We take compliance seriously.
We are the external quotes and new business team acting on behalf of NPS Law. Most law firms do not operate their own sales or new business teams to manage quotes, and we are contracted by NPS Law to provide this service. This relationship is not hidden: it is stated on every email and item of correspondence you received from the outset, including the quote emails sent prior to any payment being taken and our final conversation prior to your consent to pass your file to NPS Law.
Regarding the £150 file opening fee: before this payment was processed, our representative, Josh, explained our role and where this fee is paid. You then received a confirmation email outlining next steps, exactly what you had paid, and information on potential additional fees so you were prepared for the stages ahead. This confirmation was read out to you, and your consent was obtained before your file was passed to the law firm.
That same confirmation email also confirmed that the solicitor would request £100 as money on account, to cover elements of the quote such as ID and title checks, with any unused balance applied towards your final payment. The £100 you paid to the solicitor was therefore not an unexpected or duplicate charge, but a step set out to you in advance.
It is also worth noting that quotes obtained through our team are roughly 50% lower than going direct to the same firm. Had you disputed the £150 file opening fee at any point, we could have removed it, refunded it, and asked NPS Law to apply their standard fees instead. However, no aspect of this process was disputed until the end of the transaction, when the remainder of the fees became payable and additional fees appeared on the final bill. We always do our best to provide an accurate quote from the outset, but from time to time additional work may be required which neither we nor you are aware of at the beginning of the transaction. Once further information comes to light during the course of the matter, the solicitors have a better understanding of the work involved. The possibility of such additional fees was made clear to you in the confirmation email, and this would work the same way with any other law firm you instruct, not just NPS Law.
Josh attempted to call you to understand what had happened and which fees had been charged, so that our team could investigate on your behalf, but the call was cut off. We then followed up by email to confirm the conversation and reiterate what had already been sent to, and accepted by, you.
If you genuinely believe the £150 was not deducted from your final bill as agreed, please let us know so we can investigate this on your behalf - we would be happy to look into your file. We remain happy to assist and would encourage you to reply to our follow-up email or contact us directly.

Very supportive, highly recommended!
As a first time buyer I was very nervous about the conveyancing process, however, I was instantly put at ease and guided through every step.
