Lovely clean cottage with great amenities. Close to Padstow centre and walking trails. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful, well equipped, clean cottage with a fantastic view of Looe Harbour and beyond. Dog friendly with an enclosed garden on several levels. Would definitely recommend.

We rented a house in St Ives for a week in July.

The online photographic representation of the property led you to believe the property was bright and comfortable. The reality was very different...the property was tired, very dirty and poorly maintained.

After contacting Cornish Horizons on our arrival the local team came back to the property to 'fix' any issues. Unfortunately the only visible difference after their visit was the replacement of the Carbon Monoxide alarm. The required cleaning had not been completed.

We had planned on spending some evenings at the property enjoying the views and relaxing, however this wasn't really feasible given the condition of the property. And we ended up eating out at restaurants across the majority of our stay.

I'm not able to recommend Cornish Horizons and I'd encourage anyone looking to stay in Cornwall to look at alternate rental companies for their Holiday.

Overall it was a great holiday location, within easy walking distance to all of the local amenities and driving distance to some great places, the only thing we were a little concerned with, was that the BBQ was left absolutely filthy, and unusable, there were also a couple of loose paving slabs on the side footpath, which is unsafe and a trip hazard, also the owner came to collect an item from the house without any notice, if things need to be collected, it would be far more respectful to arrange this with prior notice, rather than just turn up and walk around the back, and assume we’re just going to let him in.

The property 'The Lodge' was well presented,clean and looked newly refurbished.

It is close to the main square so very convenient location. No parking at the property but free car park about 3minute walk away and always found a space.

Unfortunately, the property has a busy pub right next to it and creates noise till about 0200 and this filters through the whole property.

The mattresses are very poor quality and we could feel the springs which added to our restless nights together with the noise.

There is no outdoor space like a patio and so feels very confined.

If you are a light sleeper or have kids with anxiety this might not be the right choice for you.

Ocean aura is a beautiful bungalow to stay in, it is in a brilliant location for exploring and hitting the beaches, coastal walks and close to train station. Decorated to high standards. We enjoyed our holiday here. Our only gripes were for the price paid (£3200 for the week) a few things need sorting out, the cutlery was like a cheap camping set, a few coffee pods would have been a nice touch to go with the coffee machine, no cleaning supplies for bathroom, the broom was broken in half so it broke your back to sweep up the sand from the floor, dustpan and brush was broken, airer for washed laundry was broken so nowhere to hang it up. No extra bin bags left. Also worth noting if your dog like to explore bushes the garden is not secure at the back. We lost the dog and had to leave the kids alone at 11pm to go searching all of Carbis bay and beaches in the pitch black dark as she managed to get out, thankfully an hour or so later turned up in the back garden while we were still frantically searching. Also had a phone call a few days before our holiday saying the waste disposal is broken but will be fixed before our arrival, it wasn't and was filled with disgusting water next to where we had to wash up. As you can imagine this put a bit of a dampner on our experience when we arrived.

An inaccurate website meant my car wouldn't fit, easily, into the car parking space. I was told to use public car parks, and they would reimburse my costs. Public car parking in St Ives isn't readily available and the only reliable alternative was well away from the town centre, up a steep hill. When I pointed this out I was told that I could get a bus to retrieve my car for days out. Basically, our holiday was negatively impacted and Original Cottages didn't do a great deal to help rectify the problem of their making.

We recently stayed in 2 Browns Hill Fowey and on our return I filled in the survey sent to me
I asked to be contacted re 2 issues on the survey i had no response I rang the helpline to be told the survey had not been read yet and any complaints to be directed to a different apartment . I asked for a copy of my survey and have yet to receive it
I also wrote an review with the comments below & positive feedback also it has not been posted on the website
Regarding the cottage the outside space which even though was bijou looked delightful on their website
In reality it was dirty required sweeping and all the plants in the containers were dead and this was end of June
Also the check in time was changed from 4pm to 5pm and in high season once you unloaded your car to then park it in the car park Fowey council provide for long stays high chance it will be full
Please also note we made the booking through Cornish Horizons to discover it is owned by The Original Cottage Co based in Norwich that has limited knowledge of the cottage & Fowey
Overall a very poor experience why ask a customer to fill out a survey and within the survey ask the customer to tick the box to allow the co to come back to you re the issues

The cottage we stayed at was excellent, as described by CH and was a comfortable venue for our family holiday

The Flat is ok for a young family not good for elderly as the Steps access is lethal and no hand rails - when wet which it was for days they were impassable

The house is spectacular with lovely views over the countryside. Everything you need in the kitchen - lovely bedrooms - great outdoor space and Tom and Clare (the owners) are so lovely. Can't fault this place at all.

This bungalow would be lovely with a little updating but right now it is tired. There aren’t enough sockets and no USB points whatsoever. There are extension leads all over the place. The kitchen units are worn and their fascia’s are lifting. Although I didn’t do any cooking the kitchen seemed to be well equipped with crockery, pans, glasses etc. The carpet in the main bedroom had several pieces of tape stuck to it. Other than the mirror in the bathroom there was just one more which was located in the main bedroom. Unfortunately this is hung on the wall which means you have to stand the whole time you are doing your hair & makeup. A dressing table with a mirror would make life much easier. In my opinion there isn’t enough storage for 4 people as there is only hanging space in the main bedroom. The bedroom furniture again looks tired and is chipped here and there. Overall the bungalow was clean and tidy but grass had been left in the bottom of the wardrobe and the heated towel rail could have done with a wipe down. Both gardens could have done with the lawns mowing and the shrubbery cutting back. This property feels more like an elderly persons home than a holiday let.

We’ve been using Cornish Horizons for at least 15 years now & they have always been clean & properties are well kept & informative when you need help.

We booked to stay at Fairbank Cottage in Looe through Cornish Horizons, I wish we had seen and looked into reviews more before we booked, up until going away everything was fine and information sent was great and more than happy.
The problem is they seem to be advertising these holiday cottages using words like immaculate and high cleanliness and photographs clearly do not represent the true likeness of the cottage we stayed in, it was expensive but we need a high standard property due to health issues. As soon as we opened the door a damp awful smell hit us we were searching and we found the fireplace behind the electric log burner was damp and peeling and just not nice! The sofa and foot stool heavily stained and also the area rug! The sofa was a bed settee and obviously at the end of its life you couldn’t sit comfortably without fighting not to meet in the middle as were rolling together just sitting, we had to put cushions under to even it out and used the single bed quilt to put over the sofa as stunk and was filthy. The shower curtain was black in places and the shower door area grubby and black with mould. The carpets were all stained badly we had to walk around in our flip flops at all times because we dread to think what was in the carpets. The owner was watering plants one day when we arrived back after a drive and we politely asked about the hideous smell and he said oh the fireplace smell and walked out, he could see the quilt situation in the sofa but clearly wanted to get away asap as obviously knew there were many issues!
We looked at reviews and decided we didn’t want to tackle the Cornish horizon office as just didn’t want to spoil the holiday any further with arguments and as many many customers said previously, they just weren’t interested in helping after you’d paid your money! In this present climate after waiting a long time for this holiday it was overall very poor and disappointing, didn’t reflect value for money, certainly wasn’t immaculate and just not a place we would book ever again, which is really sad. Looe and surrounding areas were fabulous so all was not lost! But our faith in honest holiday booking has been shattered and we will never book with these agents again! Funnily enough we cannot find any reviews from Fairbank cottage after Feb 2023 and is booked fully as far as we can see and so clearly the reviews are clearly horrendous! This place also is advertised thru Airbnb and other agents too, if you want a lovely, clean place to stay I’d look elsewhere! Also upon arriving home we both have sore throats and chests and are convinced it’s the damp and strong awful smell that has contributed to this! I wish we could submit photos to show all these awful problems too.

Booked a place at St Ives through this company. Firstly we have had problems since we got here with the fact the door lock is faulty, we got stuck in the property for one hour as it jams as once the door shuts, it locks itself and the knob on the inside gets stuck, luckily we had my partner to get this unstuck otherwise if it would of being someone elderly, or young, we would of been stuck. Secondly, the customer service has been appalling! We had to call the emergency line as due to the door locking itself, in which we weren’t aware of until we released, the keys were in the property so we could not get back into the house so we had to call one of your staff members on the helpline, to then be greeted by a woman who was very rude, stated to us she wasn’t happy about being called out - why work in customer service at all then? Quite frankly was shocked at this point, but it gets worse! We then get a call at 8.30am in the morning before the office opens, to be then called by another rude woman who accused us of loosing the keys, stating that the ‘emergency line is there for a reason’ and basically trying to charge us £40 for keys we have not lost… so my partner calmly explains that we did NOT loose the keys, they were in the property as already explained on the helpline but no one explained to us that the door AUTOMATICALLY locks itself. Either way the customer service was shocking and for that reason alone, other than the issues with the property itself with the steep small steps, dodgy windows, TV box temperamental and does not work great and turns itself of. I will never be staying back here again or booking through this company now.

Good location in a lovely part of Cornwall. The cottage is well equipped and clean, with a nice shower room (although the lock on the door didn’t work). and outside seating area. I must admit the prices in Fowey were very restricting. We found prices in some cases around 80% dearer than here in Yorkshire. You need to shop around to find recognised supermarkets where prices are comparable to normal.

2a Clodgy View, St Ives is a wonderful apartment with great sea views. The apartment was clean and airy. It has everything you need for a self-catering stay. My daughter and I had a lovely relaxing stay. St Ives is a great base to stay at to travel out from each day to see the many interesting and beautiful places in Cornwall.

The apartment has a small courtyard if you wish to relax outside before walking to the harbour to get something to eat and people-watch.

The allocated parking space at the rear of the property is very tight and on a slope. I only have a small car but still managed to scratch it on the rusty electric box.

I will be booking again but at a different apartment as I can't take the stress of that parking space again.

Very enjoyable holiday at 'The Smithy' in Gunwalloe. Have been twice and already booked again for 2024.
Easy to book online and you're kept informed of when any payment is due and how long to go before going on your holiday. Well worth a look.
