Serious Concerns Regarding Loss of Income Protection Product Prospective policyholders should carefully assess not only the wording of any income protection product, but also the insurer’s claims handling timelines and processes.

We were insured under a loss-of-income policy across a portfolio of seven properties following a ceiling collapse caused by neighbouring damage.

The claim process took almost eight months to resolve. During that period, the delay in payment created significant cashflow pressure. Despite the existence of a “loss of income” product, there were numerous associated costs that were not covered — including utilities, loan servicing, and ongoing liabilities.

As a result of the prolonged handling time, our credit profile was materially affected, which in turn impacted our ability to complete other projects within the portfolio. The financial knock-on effects have been substantial.

Whilst Coversure have been professional in communication, the underwriting and claims handling process (administered by Sedgwick) raises serious concerns regarding the practical effectiveness of this product. A loss-of-income policy must operate with speed to achieve its purpose — prolonged delays fundamentally undermine its value.

We are now reviewing the FCA product governance and claims handling rules in light of this experience and are proceeding with civil action in respect of consequential losses arising from the delayed payment.

We hope this matter encourages proper scrutiny of how such products function in practice.

Over 20 years with coversure

Ive been with coversure for over 20 years and the service has been absolutly brilliant, i really couldnt fault it . Also i must point out this is not a reflection on all the coversure offices just what was my local office after it was sold and the self regulating complaints department from which i received the reply that i was expecting being self regulating, When my local office was sold is where it all went badly downhill, I had a car that was written off (eventually), so i purchased another car and asked for it to replace the written off car. I received the insurance certificate for the replacement car so all was good up to a point i guess.. However sometime later i received an invoice for X amount of money to add the new vehicle on as in a new policy, i tried to explain it was a replacement and that i had emailed them to say at the time it was just that, but to cut a long story short they was having none of it and i had to pay for the extra policy, I know insurance companies will let you replace a written off car using the same policy because ive done it before with this company but before my local office was sold, they didn t say i couldnt at the time when i requested it, they just added it on then a few weeks later send me a bill for a new policy , Had they said at the time i requested this that i couldnt use the existing policy then i wouldnt have bothered replacing the car as i have other vehicles i can use . Since the office was sold the customer service has been shocking to be polite, along with the car i didnt need and the new insurance policy thats over £6000 out of pocket.

What a disappointment

What a disappointment benn with them 5 years had a non fault accident
I was chasing up witnesses forwarding all the statements
Then it was my fault i was stationary and apparently i drove into on coming vehicle they don't help very much take your money with no support chasing them all the time and when it come to renewal in a flash guess what you have a call or email
Why even stress yourself
Why would you want to use them

What a complete bunch of muppets! They seem to think Joe Public have no knowledge of insurance and will do anything to gain your buisness. The owner runs his business from reading a pathetic book and dictates to his staff. I hope the FCA closes this business forever

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Paid for insurance that they decided not to bother securing correctly a month on they are now apologising and asking for nearly double what has already been paid so they can get the correct cover and correct their mistake! Are now ignoring emails for over 4 days. Have raised a complaint.

Harassment

Coversure called me about 3 weeks before my renewal was due. I asked them to send me all the details and I would get back to them as soon as I could. A few days past and another call from Coversure. I explained to them that I hadn’t had time to look at the details but I would get back to them as soon as I could. At this point I also explained to them that my mother had just past away and I was very busy dealing with our family loss. A weekend went past and then another call from Coversure. I answered the call and reiterated that I was dealing with personal things, please don’t call me again. I ignored all the following calls up to my renewal date. They called once more on the last day where I had the pleasure of telling them they lost my custom to another company from what can only be described as harassment.
Looking back through my call log there were 10 phone calls in the space of 3 to 4 weeks all by the same person!!

Breath of fresh air.....

After being messed about by other brokers for years I had finally had enough and had already been speaking to Coversure for the last two years and now finally decided to move over.
Excellent service and even through our previous broker was making things difficult right up to the last minute, Coversure sorted everything out professionally and promptly with excellent service. Big shout out to Kevin for all the out of hours help to get this sorted and not leave me in the lurch whilst I was travelling.

They were amazing for the first year, but at each renewal prices were hiked over 100%, one package triples in price, with another package having a 200% increase over 2 years. no alternative quotes were provided, renewal offers came in less than 24 hours before expiry backing us into a corner to ensure we are covered. Out to make money for the Insurer and not their clients. We have parted ways and have saved over £30000 in premiums

I recently had exceptional customer service from the team at Coversure Cramlington office. My insurance had been cancelled and I was struggling to get insurance, staff at the branch were amazing to deal with and not only found me cover but at a fraction of the price I was expecting. Really recommended
