I don’t usually write reviews, but this one comes straight from my heart.

I honestly believe God led me to London Capital Credit Union at exactly the right time.

After years of domestic abuse and financial abuse, I finally found the courage to leave and start a new chapter for my son and me. Anyone who has ever had to rebuild their life will know that it’s not just about finding somewhere to live. It’s the deposits, the moving costs, replacing furniture, creating a home from nothing and trying to make it feel safe again.

I had worked so hard to get to this point, but I suddenly found myself needing financial help.

The hardest part was knowing that my credit history didn’t reflect who I am today.

Because of what happened during my previous relationship, things had been taken out in my name and it created a domino effect that left me with CCJs and a few defaults. Looking at my credit report felt like looking at someone else’s life. It didn’t reflect my work ethic, my affordability or how carefully I manage my money now.

Like so many people probably do, I started looking at lenders who advertise loans for people with poor credit. I never actually applied to them, but I used their online loan calculators just to see what my options were.

Every time I checked, it was the same story. The loan amounts were so small and the repayments were so high that I remember thinking, “How is anyone supposed to rebuild their life like this?”

For the first time in a long time, I genuinely felt defeated.

So I prayed.

I asked God to make a way because I couldn’t see one myself.

Not long afterwards, I came across London Capital Credit Union. Until that moment, I didn’t even know credit unions like this existed.

I read through the eligibility and almost talked myself out of applying because I wasn’t already a member. Then I noticed my employer was one of their payroll partners, and something inside me just said, “Apply. You’ve got nothing to lose.”

So I did.

I applied, called a few days later because I was anxious, and the person I spoke to was so kind and reassuring. They simply explained they needed a few supporting documents. I sent everything over and within just one or two days I received the email saying I’d been approved. From start to finish, the whole process only took around four to five days.

I wasn’t approved for the full amount I’d asked for, but I honestly didn’t care.

It was enough.

Enough to help me continue building a safe future for my son and me.

Enough to remind me that not everyone sees you as just a number.

Enough to restore hope when I’d almost run out of it.

I remember falling to my knees and crying. Not because of the money itself, but because after feeling rejected for so long, someone had finally looked beyond a credit score and seen a person.

That meant more than I can ever explain.

The repayments are affordable and realistic, nothing like the figures I’d seen elsewhere while using those online loan calculators. For the first time throughout this whole process, I felt like I could breathe again.

What I love most about London Capital Credit Union is that it feels like there are real people behind the decisions. Of course I understand that not everyone can be approved, and lending has to be responsible. But it genuinely feels as though they take the time to look at the person as well as the paperwork.

I wish more people knew organisations like this existed.

Not everyone with a poor credit history is irresponsible.

Sometimes they’re survivors.

Sometimes they’re people escaping abuse.

Sometimes they’re rebuilding after illness, redundancy, divorce or circumstances they never asked for.

Sometimes all they need is one person or one organisation willing to believe in them.

London Capital Credit Union became that for me.

This isn’t just helping me financially. It’s helping me build a peaceful home, a fresh start and a future that once felt impossible.

When my loan is repaid, I have absolutely no intention of leaving. I’ll continue saving with London Capital Credit Union because if my membership can help another family receive the same chance I’ve been given, then I want to be part of that.

I genuinely believe organisations like this change lives.

Mine is one of them.

As a new volunteer intern, my experience is still in its early stages, but so far I have felt very welcomed and supported. Disappointed by this credit union, I had a loan with them which I have paid back every week with no problems, applied for a top up loan I needed and due to bad credit I cannot get a loan or help elsewhere even tho i am in a better position moneywise now, loan was rejected even tho nothing has changed since my first loan, I waited for 3 months as they said I could apply then now I cannot reapply for another 3 months again, just seems a waste of time as my situation hasnt changed since joining them, customer service are never friendly or helpful, after ive paid my loan off ill be shutting my membership with them

When ever I have needed a loan they try there best to give it to you plus you keep saving at the same time whilst paying it back if your accepted

My experience with you guy was wonderful; the support, guide and assurance is always there.

The Capital Credit Union were amazing from start to finish with my loan application. The proses was quick and uncomplicated and has allowed us to make much needed improvements to our home at a low cost. I have saved with CCU for 7 years and will continue to do so.

My mum unexpectedly passed away just before Christmas. I was devastated and also worried how I’d cover the sudden, sizeable funeral costs. I approached the Credit Union and within a matter of days my loan was granted. I cannot begin to thank the Union enough for the weight of financial worry that was lifted. Mum will now be sent off in the way she deserves.

Honestly, when my new employer told me about these and they can offer assistance and advice I was a little sceptical. But after getting over the hump of starting a new job and wages fluctuating, I put forward for a “Christmas loan”. If I’m honest it was th simplest application I have ever done. The communication was almost instant each time and anytime something was needed or talked about it was clear and not once was I made to feel rubbish about taking out a loan around Christmas. No judgement was passed and everything was smooth. Thank you again for taking the time to read this and I hope you the best success in whatever you may need from the great customer care teams.

I think the service provided is very good. The response is quick and above all fantastic rates which cannot be found anywhere else.

Very efficient, and I like the fact that when you take out a loan you can save at the same time while paying it off
