DO NOT rent a car from this company…

DO NOT rent a car from this company absolute scammers. Wont provide a proper quote or give us paperwork to claim for so called damage we supposidly done to the ramshack of a vehicle. That vehicle has now cost me approx £1150. Even after multiple e mails and phone calls the female at Heraklion airport told me to do what I want as the wont be giving us any paperwork. Total scam!!!

I had an accident in my rental car (my fault), The way these guys looked after me was brilliant. They arrived on the scene quickly, ensured I was calm and supported, quickly arranging a replacement. I can't thank them enough. This is my first time driving abroad and on the other side of the road. What matters when you hire a car abroad is how you are treated when things don't go to plan and in this instance i can't fault them! As a side note - if you get insurance with your rental - opt for the additional extras as the basic CDW will only cover damage and not towing etc. which can be expnsive!

AWFUL SERVICE

AWFUL SERVICE. Definitely scammed us, as they charged 700 euros for a scratch on the bumper, that we tried to protest, and then were uncooperative when trying to get additional information to submit the charges to our insurance. Avoid this place completely.

During the inspection of a car rental pick up, we encourage our clients to make photos and ensure about the condition of a vehicle before leaving our station. In case the detection of new damages after the inspection of a car drop-off, a driver is charged according to the official damage matrix of the rental company and as per insurance coverage. With the documentation we provide, a customer is compensated by the platform where a vehicle was booked.
If you are in lack of this documentation which we doubt how could happen, since it is not our practice due to the contracts we have with cooperating platforms, please contact with us the soonest possible to support@creteroyal.com to check the issue

Unprofessional

Upon arrival I already felt uncomfortable. Long wait just to collect the car. We were then presented with an old car with unreal mileage on the clock. Damage and dents to almost every single panel of the car. Quality and age of the cars are disgraceful. My advice would be to record EVERY SINGLE VISIBLE AREA of the car. Yes, get on your knees and record UNDER the car, under both bumpers and side skirts as this is how they will try to get you. Record every single panel slowly so that you have evidence for your own protection.

Regarding the condition of the car you were provided with, we are sorry that it did not meet your expectations. At our car fleet we take great pride in maintaining and having a high standard for our new vehicles, but sometimes according to the rental value or low availability a customer might be provided with a vehicle that will not meet his standard, but this is not a reflection of our usual quality standards, as per any positive and great reviews we have from many other customers.
In order to prevent such issues as yours in the future, we have implemented additional measures to enhance our vehicle inspection process and we appreciate your suggestion to record under the car, bumpers, and side skirts, but we certainly practice this routine for every rental.
Rest assured that we value your feedback and we regret that we fell short in meeting your expectations on this occasion.

Avoid like the plague

Royal at Heraklion Airport. Avoid. Have had to wait quite a while to post a review as have had issues with Royal.
They charged me for damage to a bumper (old git on a moped did it!). 260 euros for damage and an admin fee. Bit miffed but couldn't really complain.
I claimed on my excess cover insurance; they would not pay out without a written invoice from Royal. I e-mailed them 3 times requesting one. The agent, Discover Cars, e-mailed them at least twice. No reply to any of them. Were very quick to tell me they prided themselves on customer service when I picked up the car.
Fortunately, my insurance paid out after I sent them proof of payment for the damage and the e-mails to Royal from myself and Discover Cars.
Fully intend going back to Crete but will most definitely NOT use Royal.
Wonder if I'd get a reply if I asked them if the damage has been repaired, along with the other damage to the car?????

However, we have checked our records and found that we did send the required documentation to Discover Cars, our cooperating partner, on the dates specified. We understand that the refund process may have taken longer than expected due to external factors beyond our control, but we ensured that all necessary documents were provided.

Geven aan dat de onderkant van de auto beschadigd is willen! Laten je extra lang tot je bijna je vliegtuig mist en alsnog gaat betalen terwijl je verzekerd bent!

Would personally use again

Booked a car at Chania airport, it's only a small office but not far from the airport (easy to miss if you're not alert). No problem with using the creditcard providers excess waiver insurance, which I have encountered with other companies. The car was in good condition and the employees friendly. No problem during the whole process. Would recommend and use again

Did not like that the lady at the…

Did not like that the lady at the pickup, would not write all the damage on her paper and therefore it was our video documentation that was valid. The car had a lot of scratches and dents, so it was certainly not a pleasant experience to drive from there as it all seemed like a scam.

While we were there, a tenant was accused of having made scratches, we had to go all the way down to the knees to be able to see under the car. Unfortunately he had not filmed there!

She also try to sell us a lot of insurance even though we were fully covered.

The delivery went well, nice guy who could, see that we had taken care of it, so it only took 5 min. to hand over the car.

The car was rented in Heraklion

As for the additional insurance coverage, despite your already being fully covered, it is clearly stated in the broker pages that upon a car pick up from a provider, the excess must be preauthorized and in this order, we propose and advice the customers to buy our local insurance to reduce excess and have less liability in case of an accident. Very expensive for car quality

Hello,
I rent a car with royal at Lyttos Beach Hotel group c1. We saw a new Polo on the flyer and we finally got an old Nissan Micra which was just here to carry us without confort at all and no power.
The car was awfull and very expensive 90€/day with standard insurrance.
I don’t recommend this agency.

Scam scam scam..

Hi all.

Its a scam company, the are scaming you of more money when you arrive in the Herakliion airport.
They try to give us a 20 years old car look like a dead body, and the want us to pay 1050 euro for 35 days throw Discover car. But when we came to collect the car its was old, and if we wants a new one, we need to pay 900 euro more, we refused that, and cancell everything, we still got scamt for 271 euro and the dont answer us on email.
The supervisor was a some kind of a psykopat, he just sad f.... you when we refused the deal, and all that in front of my dagther.

Keep a way from this people if you not will be scamed.

We would like to clarify a few points mentioned in your review. Firstly, we would like to assure you that we do not have any cars in our fleet that are more than five years old. However, please keep in mind that as a car rental company, the vehicles are driven by multiple drivers throughout the summer season, and as a result, they may show signs of usage. We do our best to maintain our cars in good condition.
Regarding the issue of a new car, we understand that you were expecting a brand new vehicle for the price you paid. However, renting a brand new car does come with an additional cost, as mentioned in our communication with you. We offered you the option of upgrading to a brand new car, but it came with an additional charge. Unfortunately, we cannot provide luxury or brand new cars at the same price as older models.
Regarding the deposit you mentioned, it was paid to Discover Car, the booking platform you used. As such, any refund for the deposit should be requested directly from them, as it is their responsibility to handle such matters.
As you decided to cancel your reservation at the airport due to your dissatisfaction with the car provided, we had reserved the car for you and may have lost other potential reservations as a result. Nonetheless, we did not make an issue of this and respected your decision to cancel.
Regarding the inappropriate behavior you mentioned, we want to assure you that we do not tolerate unprofessional conduct from our staff members. We had already addressed the matter internally, and appropriate measures had been taken.
We value our reputation as a company that has been serving customers for over 30 years, and we take feedback seriously and we apologize for any inconvenience or misunderstanding you may have experienced during your interaction with our company. We strive to improve our services continuously, and your feedback helps us in that process.

Creteroyal highly recommended

Creteroyal/Addcar/CarDelMar highly recommended. Many thanks to employee Manos working for Creteroyal in Chersonissos regarding the rental of a "Group A Mini" car for 3 days in Oct. 2020. Ordered by check24.de one day before pick-up date with no issues.
Got a Fiat Panda car in good technical condidition and automatic gear equipment as a charge free update. Car was given and returned with little fuel on the gauge (empty-empty), as it is the usual practise in mediteranean sites, even check24.de contract says full-full. Free pick-up and drop-off at my local hotel place in Gouves. The blocking of 800 Euros deposit on my credit card was released just 3-4 days after returning the car instead of 20 days agreed - compliments for this trustful gesture.
BTW: Found cheaper rental rates available on the booking site from creteroyal.com than on check24.de
