Great quality workshop / shed Very friendly service and clear information about the product, materials and delivery lead time. Yes, I probably could have bought something bulk produced and cheaper, but I know my workshop is a quality build just for me and to my requirements. All in all, exactly what I wanted from a great team.

Great quality and finish, and definitely worth the wait (instead of the initial cheap and flimsy 'off the shelf' alternative I had originally seen from another company). As we were told as kids, 'good things come to those who wait'! Ha ha. You were right, the timber is much better quality and the closer grain just makes it feel nicer than the cheap versions. Lovely and warm with the insulation as well on these cold days.
Again, many thanks for the great, professional work, and the resulting lovely building. Totally recommend this company.

The range of buildings in Wood or metal using superior spruce from their facility in Bulgaria, followed up with finishing and hands on customer support from the farm in Somerset is above expectations.

Very pleased with my shed which is being used as a hedgehog hospital.
The guys fitting it were great. Very quick and tidy.
One very tiny thing(litterly) The door catch was disappointing. It needs a proper latch that you can lock.

Just had my new beach hut delivered after my old one was damaged in the winter storms.

I needed a simple shed and found Custon Timber Build.
They were very helpful and explained all about the different sheds.
I got my friend to help me build it when it was delivered, the delivery guy, Nigel I think was very helpful too and gave some tips on putting it up so it was very easy.

I ordered a workshop / store with the workshop insulated. They were very helpful working with me on the design and how best to achieve exactly what I wanted.

They also did the base and erected it including the insulation.

The team from start to finish were superb and I can’t thank them enough.

Our beach hut is perfect! Ingenious craftsmanship making the interior doors. On site team were hardworking, helpful and very efficient

I keep rewriting this review but it just gets longer and makes me so angry each time I relive the experience. I’m trying to keep it factual but it is difficult not to let the emotional side show through. The review could be very long because it took 7 months to complete a transaction for which I was quoted 10-12 weeks. I’ll try to be brief though.

I made three schoolgirl errors at the beginning of our transaction.
Number 1 – I didn’t check the company’s Trustpilot reviews,
Number 2 – I didn’t go through the company’s Ts&Cs with a fine-toothed comb and,
Number 3 – I didn’t check the company’s Trustpilot reviews.

The eventual building is functional, just. It is a bespoke cat run with ‘cabin’ which is a raised enclosure with ‘portcullis’ style door for the cats to access the run, a window and an external door. The window is of brittle, almost opaque, supposed ‘Perspex’, and has a crack where it was fixed to the wall of the cabin. The external door to the ‘cabin’ had hinges fitted to it but they were not fixed to the wall of the cabin; probably because the wall of the cabin is made of overlapping boards. The guys we hired to assemble the run had to improvise with fixing the hinges. There was no handle for opening/closing the door.

The overlapping boards of the cabin don’t seem to be fully weatherproof as one can see daylight coming through at the corner of the cabin. Hopefully we won’t need to use it in extreme weather but I’m not sure how this will affect the longevity of the building if the cabin gets wet inside.

There are two doors providing a security ‘airlock’ arrangement to access the main part of the run.

The timber appears very sturdy but is badly finished (I’ve lost track of the number of splinters I’ve removed from my hands) and is incredibly heavy. I was assured (by Nigel) it would be easy for my husband and me (81 and 68), ‘maybe with help from a neighbour’, to take delivery and assemble. When the sections were delivered it took our next-door neighbour and the delivery driver the best part of an hour to unload and put to the back of the house. It took two young, fit professional tradespeople most of a day to assemble.

The company’s Ts&Cs are most unusual. They provide a ‘kerbside’ delivery which apparently means not to expect any help from the delivery driver; thankfully, the driver who delivered to us had been on the customer service training course for which it seems Nigel was off sick…..

I won’t detail the numerous contacts from me to enquire about the progress of the order or the acrimonious conversations regarding delivery but as stated, it took 7 months as opposed to the 10-12 weeks quoted. Another of the Ts&Cs is that they require full balance payment 10 days before delivery which I successfully challenged and we finally agreed on balance on delivery. It was a good thing too because I was asked for the balance 10 days before an abortive delivery date. Who knows how long it would have taken for delivery if they’d had all my money and thus no incentive to deliver.

The website gives the impression they have bases in many areas of the country, however, I can only find one physical location in Yeovil which is probably why delivery is so complex and takes so long. Our building was apparently fabricated in Bulgaria and received into this country mid-November, but it took another three months to deliver it to us.

Most communications, for updates, were instigated by me but during phone calls Nigel continually talked over me, was intransigent, and blamed delays on anything and everything other than the company’s inability to deliver. I never had one apology for the delays, or anything else.

Despite originally quoting £895 for assembly, this increased to £2,685 when I checked closer to delivery. Nigel denied ever quoting £895, despite me having that figure written on the paper I’d used to take notes of our original conversation. He practically called me a liar that he’d given me that figure which begs the question where I might have plucked the number from.

I’m sorry, this review is still far too long but hopefully it will give some insight into why I would not recommend this company. To be fair, I haven’t contacted the company about the shortcomings discovered since delivery because I doubt Nigel will take ownership of them, apologise, or do anything other than, yet again, talk over me and deny any responsibility.

Overpriced, can’t keep to deadlines, rude. Might have been a more succinct review but wouldn’t have given as much insight.

Edited to say, the 'window', which is held in by staples is now falling out.
Second edit to say the 'galvanised' mesh is now rusting.

The roof was very badly made and didn't' fit together properly because it was so warped. We had to cut bits off here and add bits there to make it work. This ate into the construction time badly. Also the felt was not long enough for the roof (felt has to be whole length without joins or it will not shed water correctly and they provided 5.5m length for 6m roof.) so we had to buy more felt. Additional expense and more waste of time that should not have happened.
Rather stressful and additional expense was very annoying.

Wish I had read the bad reviews on here before ordering and speaking to the con men in this company. Waited over 2 months for delivery with terrible customer services and no truthful updates during that time.
Garden shed finally arrived and I was instantly annoyed at the state of everything. The timber is terrible quality with random nails and screws sticking out everywhere. I had to spend half a day trying to pull the dangerous nails out and in turn it leads to the flimsy timber getting damaged even more.
Was genuinely shocked at how poor quality everything was as I though had done my research before ordering a shed. the windows which you pay extra for are so badly scratched that you cannot see through them, the terrible panel list/dimensions is written with such shocking handwritings its barely readable.

All in all the quality of the shed was all that mattered and it was shocking. Annoyed with myself for believing the salesmen on the phone. Do yourself a favour amnd AVOID

Although had to wait for our bespoke building due to covid and Brexit red tape , we have not been disappointed with the quality of the build of our 700 sq ft building . Nigel was always at the end of the phone and kept us informed at the various stages . George and his team who erected the building worked very hard and timely . We have taken our time before doing this review to ensure no issues and can say the building has stood up to the terrible storms we have recently had .We often receive compliments about the building and would definitely use again .

Had a summerhouse/shed from Duchy Timber Buildings installed on a pre-laid base. Absolutely delighted with the quality and efficiency of the installers. A pleasure to deal with them - friendly and helpful.

Ordered shed and told it would take 6 to 8 weeks, shed delivered on the 12 week.
Very poor communication, I had to phone several times to ask for delivery date and the owner was very passive aggressive.
Shed is of average standard, not worth the £960 paid. The one positive is George the delivery driver was very helpful and polite
I would not recommend this company due to the ignorance and rudeness of the owner

We had a large workshop built in the garden with sliding barn doors to separate the internal space. The building is great quality, the carpentry exemplary and the workmen a delight to be around. The specification and help to achieve the specification have both been faultless. Would completely recommend Custom Timber Buildings.
