Deeper Africa set us up for a great trip
Deeper Africa did a great job helping us plan and prepare for our trip to Zambia. Karen showed great expertise in the area and put together a great trip for us. They connected us with two great safari companies in Zambia which both provided excellent service and fantastic guided safaris. Everyone at Deeper Africa was very helpful and responsive, which made going to a new country for the first time less intimidating.
Great Trip!
The entire trip was well planned and wonderful. The lodges we stayed in were gorgeous, our guide Sultan was incredibly knowledgeable and added in a few unexpected local experiences for us. If I plan another trip to Africa, I will certainly all Deeper Africa for their help and guidance!
An ideal safari experience
Our trip was fantastic from the early planning stages through to the end. Karen took the time to talk through potential itineraries and destinations until we found a plan that worked. Once we got there, the accommodations were top-notch and our guide, Sultan, was terrific. He was very knowledgeable about Tanzanian wildlife and he generously shared his country with us.
Once in a lifetime vacation
Amazing vacation. Deepr Africa team planned the perfect itinerary — insightful, thoughtful and bespoke. Spectacular camps, knowledgeable guides, and beautiful country and people. We and our two teenage boys loved every aspect of the trip.
Deeper Africa made our trip flawless
Deeper Africa made our trip flawless. They were constantly on top of our flights and their guides more than helpful. We felt safe and were always treated like we were their most important clients.
Amazing experience
We chose Deeper Africa from online reviews and Travel Magazine ratings. From the beginning of planning through the end of our trip they were there. All our guides were simply awesome. We spent our first day in Nairobi with David at the natural history museum. Hearing his experiences along the way enhanced our experience. The next morning and we headed to Samburu where Bernard Ole Koikai was waiting for us. He was very knowledgeable about the wildlife and flora on our first game drive to Elephant Watch Camp. Then we had another wonderful day at Reteti Elephant Sanctuary. We spent the next three days at Ol Pejeta doing game drives with Bernard, his knowledge was excellent. Our last day was traveling back to Nairobi where we had the most amazing private experience at Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. We were happy to invite Bernard to share this experience with us. I would encourage everyone to book this experience as it was beyond amazing. Next to South Serengeti in Tanzania. The flights and transfers went flawlessly and we met up with Albert Nanyaro. Albert was so awesome. We talked and got to know him along the way to our camp and even spotted some lions within the first few minutes of our drive. Albert’s knowledge of this region was outstanding. Since we had already seen 4 of the Big 5 we tasked him with helping us spot a leopard. We came close, spotting tracks and a freshly eaten wildebeest hanging in a tree but they evaded us. We did have a very special siting of a mother lion with approximately 2-week-old cubs, along with the rest of the pride. We were so excited and loved that Albert was equally excited and even got emotional with us. We saw so many wonderful animals and met so many great people. We headed for central Serengeti after a few days and drove through a small portion of the great wildebeest migration. Never in my life did I imagine there could be so many animals in one place. Life changing experience. Upon entering the central Serengeti Park Albert spotted a leopard resting in a tree. We were so excited. We couldn't get close but it was still amazing. Task completed. Then I tasked Albert to find one I could get a great photo of. The game drive to our camp was long and we saw a whole new group of animals (hippo, crocodile, leopard, etc.) We loved seeing so many Lions. Sadly, we missed our one full day in the park due to illness. I only gave 4 stars because I couldn't get ahold of anyone to help during the night, including the camp host, Albert, or anyone at Deeper Africa in CO (we found out later that Albert didn't have cell service to answer) We made it through the illness but had to depart to head to Uganda. On our way to the airstrip Albert completed his second task and found another Leopard. This time it was close enough to get some great photos. We also found a pride of lions that had made a couple kills in the night and were full and very happily playing with each other. One female was chasing away the vultures and hyenas from the remains. It was time to part ways with Albert. We got to Entebbe to our connecting flight and met up with Richard Akol. We got to know him on the drive to Bwindi. He was very nice and very knowledgeable. The next day was our first trek to see Mountain Gorillas. It was so nice having Richard along with us for the entire adventure. We had a short walk from HQ and when we saw our first gorilla it was the most exciting, amazing and emotional experience. All the rangers, trackers and porters were so awesome. Another night brought more illness, but Richard was on the ball and brought a doctor and nurse from the local hospital to help. Feeling better we toured the hospital and visited Bicycle 4 Women. Amazing! Our second gorilla trek was extraordinary. In summary, all our guides, drivers, camps and camp staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The itinerary Deeper Africa put together for us included everything we ever dreamed of for our dream vacation.
Amazing Experience
The entire trip with Deeper Africa was amazing. Everything from the Serengeti to the Indian Ocean. Albert our safari guide was outstanding. He showed us everything the area had to offer. I highly recommend Albert and Deeper Africa if you are going to make the journey.
A unique African journey
This was a once-in-a-lifetime journey: a two-week safari in Kenya and Tanzania to visit national parks and a conservation area with local guides. My guide in Kenya, Pashiet, was an elder of the local Maasai people, well acquainted with the area, its people, as well as the animals and birds that live there. In addition to our fascinating daily game drives, he took me to one of the local schools and to a Maasai village where the women make and sell lovely jewellery to pay for, among other things, schooling for their children. I stayed at Campi ya Kanzi, a really beautiful lodge with spectacular views of the Chyulu Hills and Mount Kilimanjaro, some 68 km away. Charming Maasai staff there too and excellent food.
In Tanzania I was taken under the wing of one of Deeper Africa's senior guides, Ammy Nnko, who accompanied me throughout my visits to Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Serengeti National Parks. Ammy has a vast knowledge of the wildlife in the parks, the local geology and history, having studied and worked there for many years. He can spot a cheetah in the grass at half a mile and a leopard in a tree with its kill where you and I can see only leaves, and knows every bird both by its song and its appearance. In only 10 days he introduced me to between 70 and 80 species of bird, not to mention all the animals we encountered on our drives. Nothing was too much trouble for Ammy: he was the most thoughtful of travel companions, and much respected by all the other guides we met. I stayed at Mpingo Ridge Lodge, Plantation Lodge and Lake Masek Tented Lodge, all of which were most comfortable and where I was made to feel very welcome.
Deeper Africa is a company with many years' experience in organizing safaris all over Africa. They take great trouble to prepare the traveller for every possible eventuality, providing extensive background information and kit, a safari guide that I found invaluable during my journey, a long zoom briefing shortly before departure and so on. Help in applying for the necessary visas was also most welcome. If you are looking for a well-planned safari with the best guides around, then Deeper Africa can provide it. (Deeper Africa is recommended in Fodor's Complete Guide to African Safaris, a very useful source for planning a safari.)
Best trip ever!!!
This company offers superior service and extraordinary knowledge. We started by explaining what types of things we wanted to see and they built some sample itineraries to work with. We chose our places and they went to work with a fully supported and guided trip. They provided details about what to pack, helped organize visas and got us organized from the very beginning. Bernard provided great guiding in Kenya and Ammy was a wonderful guide throughout Tanzania. Deeper Africa provided real time monitoring of bush flights and kept our guides well informed. Completely safe and super well organized this was the best organized trip I have ever taken. Lodges were marvelous; food was chef quality and while being pampered we saw all the wild animals. Our guides were very well informed and taught me so much about what I was seeing. Watching cheetah family hunt and leopards and lions laze around was amazing. Sat for an hour one day in the middle of a herd of elephants so close I could reach out and touch them. Best trip ever.
Best African trip ever
Everything went off without a hitch. We knew what to expect and without fail Deeper African exceeded our expectations. Our guide Albert was amazing. I’m fact I think her was my favorite part of the trip. If you are even thinking about visiting Africa you must contact Karen or Wil at Deeper Africa.
Amazing immersion in deep unspoiled nature
Amazing immersion in deep nature. Animals everywhere and the Great Migration was in full swing. Our guides were extremely well qualified and informed in the biology, geology, anthropology and culture of the region. They were able to explain animal behaviors and fun facts and anecdotes about each bit of flora and fauna. They knew much of the Massai and local customs. Both Ombeni and Sultan are wonderful story tellers as well as superb trackers. We saw at least one new animal on every single game drive. The bush tents were luxurious, spacious and well appointed with flush toilets and hot showers. Food was abundant and delicious, clearly cooked by experienced chefs. Our family had a memorable bucket list adventure. We’d do it again in a heartbeat.
Can't imagine how it could have been better.
Deeper Africa handled everything from start to finish. Totally experienced and professional operation. It was nice to be briefed on the details before we left - such that there was only adventure and awe - but without unnecessary drama. Can't imagine how it could have been better. Wherever we went in Tanzania with their guide, Ammy Nnko, we could tell he was highly respected by everyone we encountered. We so much appreciate him sharing his world with us.
Amazing once-in-a-lifetime trip
Amazing once-in-a-lifetime trip!
Deeper Africa put together an amazing itinerary for our family in Zimbabwe and Botswana. The highlight was Lewis Mangaba, the most wonderful and brilliant guide! Truly amazing safari drives and wonderful accommodations.
Deeper Africa make our family’s South…
Deeper Africa make our family’s South Africa experience a fantastic and memorable trip of a lifetime. Karen prepared our family very well on what to expect on the trip from clothing to wear, medications recommended, to proper amounts to tip. Attendants ushered us to our connecting flights at the major airports. Our primary guide, Chris, navigated our family around the Capetown sights excellently. Lewis was phenomenal as he guided our family in Victoria Falls and two game reserve locations in Botswana. Our grandchildren were quite taken with Lewis. They extended an invitation to him to visit them in Seattle. My wife and I cannot say enough good things about Deeper Africa. We highly recommend Deeper Africa.
A trip of a lifetime!
WOW! What an amazing adventure. We were a large group, 10 of us! Ranging from Grandparents to grandkids. The camps we stayed at and the places we visited were outstanding. Lewis, our guide, for 9 days was the BEST. He helped us travel across boarders, played with the kids, and taught us so much. He really made our time so special. Thank you, Deeper Africa!
Trip of great memiores
It was a great trip from start to finish, food was great. Staff worked very hard to meet our ever request. Can' wait to do it again.
Excellent pre-trip service from DEEPER…
Excellent pre-trip service from DEEPER Africa staff. Their knowledge of Africa is excellent. Actual safari was extraordinary!!!!
Thank You To Deeper Africa Team
Karen and the Deeper Africa staff, Kristi and Marina, were so helpful in planning my safari. I am a solo traveler. They took great care of me from start to finish, including my diet restrictions. Everything I asked for was perfection. They recommended three camps in Tanzania, each special and each memorable. I enjoyed every day of my safari. My guide Ammy was with me the whole way. We became friends and family. Hoping to return soon!
End to End Fantastic
End to end, this was a truly remarkable experience. We felt we were in good hands from the moment we arrived. Our guide David was very knowledgeable not only about the incredible wild life but also about like in Kenya. Accommodations were superb. If we had to do over, we would not change a thing!
