I've been dealing with Digi Key corporation for approximately 30 years and was always very satisfied. However, recently I placed an order and received a notice. There was something wrong with the order., and there would be a delay. After several days of waiting, I canceled the order. A few weeks later. I placed another order for different components. And once again, received the same notice. I waited several days again and canceled the order.. In this business, two strikes and you're out .
I placed two separate orders with mouser Electronics and received both orders within three days. I will not be ordering from digita.In the future.
4 days delay in shipping
just placed an order for 6 items (all in stock) and they said wont process my order for up to 4 more days, these guys are out of business, called customer support and they have no reason for the delay
What happened to Digi-Key??
I have been using Digi-Key for around ten years and in the past their service has been great. It didn't take much longer to ship from the US than from the UK and the website works well. The search functions are good and make it easy to search for components using various filters.
But recently something has gone seriously wrong at Digi-Key every order has been delayed and it's been like that for months. My last order has been sitting at the processing stage for 4 days. I do hope that they get things sorted and return to the excellent service they used to have.
The most Incompetent Distributor I ever ordered in meaning of Shippment
This was my first and definitely my last order with Digikey, I ordered some Parts Total Volume 62 Euro Incl VAT for the EU at 05/03/26
Today is 18/03/26 and UPS is still no able to Finalize Customs Due to the Incompetence of the Digikey Shipping Department.
1) Digikey has the Worst Customer Support I've encountered till now, prepotent and absolute not caring about customer issues
2) I ordered Shipment with UPS to Austria/Vienna because UPS was the only Shipping company where DIGIKEY offered DDP Incotems
3) Now that there are Problems with Customs and only now the Customer Support told me via Email that my Order die NOT Qualify for DDP Incoterms !!!!
First they accept the order, just to tell me at the end that DDP is not Posible !
4) DIGIKEY does not even know or don't CARE that when Technical Parts are shipped to the EU, specific Declarations HAVE to be made from THEM in the Invoice declaring that they do not contain any Russian Parts, due to the Empargo of Russian Goods in the EU!
5) My Paket is still at the UPS Warehouse unable to get through customs because of DIGIKEY's Incompetence!
Stay away from Digikey, at least if you are outside the US

Deceptive!!!!!!
This company employs decemptive business praictices. Over $1,000 in tarrif and shipping charges I did not approve were billed on my card without autoriziation. Not once did they disclose these charges to me on my formal quote or order confirmation. When I reached out about the unauthoorized charges I was given the "Welp, that's too dang bad" reply.

Habe hier ein paar teile die Ìberall aus waren bestellt. 3 wochen lang keinerlei e-mail. Nicht einmal eine bestÀtigung das ich etwas bestellt habe. Lediglich meine zahlung die ich bei paypal einsehen kann. Die erste nachricht die ich bekommen habe kam vom zoll.
18 euro lieferkosten und ich soll noch was drauf zahlen?! Habe keinerlei unterlagen die ich angeben kann. Nie wieder!
Besonders witzig ist das unsere firma am 6.1 um 14 uhr kontaktiert worden ist bitte bis zum 6.1 die angaben zu vervollstÀndigen, ansonsten geht die ware zurÌck.

Edit : Well I've gotten after care.
Absolute nightmare, first time customer, make an error due to the search tool, call a few hours later, sorry order is boxed we can't do anything. Then they tell me I can return the parts no problem they will send me a label.
So I happily, naively, re-order the proper parts, return is no problem! I order the exact same way. Second time apparently my order requires custom fees! And when I call UPS with my return label, they tell me I am to pay the full return charges, if you add them up with their steep 25% restock fee... the system is not well made for small customers, if you offer to small customers you should be able to care for them.
Customer service initially just laughed at me and said it was all my fault, so I said "your conclusion is get lost, customer is always wrong?" and they replied "anything else I can help you with?".
But then someone reviewed the call and gave me a partial refund on at least some of the fees. On the positive side shipping was extremely quick and products as described.

Vor 14 Tagen einen Artikel bei digikey.de bestellt, angeblich 2-3 Tage Lieferzeit. Die Bestellung hatte nur den Status "Ihre Bestellung wird durch einen Mitarbeiter geprÃŒft", heute steht die Bestellung auf "storniert". Mehrfach unter verschieden e-Mail Adressen nachgefragt, keine Reaktion seitens Digikey. Und nein, auch nichts im Spam Ordner. Leider im voraus mit Paypal gezahlt, bin gespannt ob/wann da eine Gutschrift kommt. Absolut unwÃŒrdiges Verhalten seitens dieser Firma!

I placed an order with Digi-Key via their French website (digikey.fr) as a private individual residing in France. VAT was properly calculated and paid during checkout. Despite this, my order was later cancelled with the explanation that I had not provided a VAT number â a requirement that does not apply to non-business customers under EU law.
This is a clear violation of EU consumer protection legislation, including Directive 2011/83/EU and the French Code de la consommation (Article L.221-14), both of which prohibit unjustified cancellation of confirmed orders and require that all conditions be clearly stated prior to payment. Digi-Key actively markets to French consumers via a .fr domain, provides a French phone number and email, and collects VAT through the IOSS scheme. Therefore, it is fully subject to French and EU consumer law, regardless of its U.S. headquarters.
Whatâs even more concerning is the possibility that the customer service decision may have been handled by an offshore support agent, potentially based in the Philippines or another outsourced location, who lacked appropriate training in EU tax and consumer law. The rigid, scripted nature of the response I received suggests a lack of awareness of Digi-Keyâs obligations to private customers in the European Union.
This experience reflects poor internal coordination and inadequate customer service training for international transactions. If Digi-Key cannot fulfill EU consumer orders correctly â especially after accepting payment â then they should not advertise local-language services or collect VAT on their EU websites.
I have filed a formal complaint with French consumer authorities (DGCCRF via SignalConso), and I strongly urge EU consumers to be cautious when placing orders with Digi-Key until these issues are addressed.

Im spÀteren Verlauf wird auf Lieferung am Anfang Juni korrigiert. Termin verschiebt sich nun auf Ende August,
d.h sagenhaften 20- anstatt der ursprÃŒnglich vorgesehenen 10Wochen!!!
Dabei hÀlt es "DigiKey" nicht mal fÌr nötig, die Kunden Ìber etwaige "Verzögerungen" zu benachrichtigen.
Die Lieferverzögerung wird nur nach explizite Anfrage Ìber dem Verbleib kommuniziert .
Zusatzkosten bei Bestellungen die aus USA geliefert werden
Ich habe dringend eine spezielle Flash-Card benötigt (Industriestandard), diese wurde in DE erzeugt und dann Ìber die USA versandt. NatÌrlich ohne Zoll und Einfuhr USt. Dies ist in den AGB vermerkt, aber lesen Sie alle AGB's?
Ist wohl mein Fehler....passiert mir nicht nochmals, da dieselbe Karte in der EU dann billiger und ohne weiteren Aufwand geliefert worden wÀre.

Shipping options change depending on website's language, order had a processing delay of a whole day, high shipping costs, costumer service was okay, managed to talk to a human and get an estimated delivery time in under 5 minutes. Dirt cheap components in bulk quantities with good quality. Overall pretty nice, but shipping could be better.

Digikey has a great selection and decent prices
Digikey has a great selection of electronics products are reasonable prices. Delivery is fast. My last order was in January 2025 and took only a few days to arrive. I've never had anything go wrong with an order so I can't speak to their customer service in case of problems.
