Poor quality. I returned item stating poor quality however I’m out of pocket because they charged me to deliver and return shoes, so don’t bother!

I purchased a pair of Maddie Magic Stretch boots from Ella Shoes via TikTok Shop as a gift for my wife. The boots initially seemed fine, but during the first day of normal wear one boot repeatedly slipped down and would not stay up properly, making them unusable.

I contacted Ella Shoes through TikTok to request a replacement pair. I wasn’t asking for a refund — simply a pair that worked as expected. I returned the boots as requested.

Ella Shoes rejected the return because the boots had been worn outside, even though the fault only became apparent during normal use. They also retained the boots.

This left me without the boots and without a refund.

Because the purchase had been made using PayPal Credit, I had to pursue the matter through PayPal’s dispute process and eventually escalate the complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service. Only after this escalation did PayPal offer compensation to resolve the complaint.

What disappointed me most was the way the retailer handled the issue. When a product develops a fault during normal use, customers should be able to rely on reasonable customer service and a fair replacement or refund process.

Unfortunately that was not my experience here.

I have also noticed another review describing a very similar issue with these boots slipping down during wear, which suggests this may not be an isolated case.

Can't believe they have had such a bad rating. Saw their boots for sale at our local garden centre of all places tried them on loved them so much I bought the black, mid brown and tan ones!!! for the price I couldn't believe how nice they were, went online and bought two more styles which have just come and they are fantastic!! so pleased !!

Boots roll down and when I asked customer care they were aggressive and rude. Wasted £100 and boots cannot be work. Avoid avoid avoid
