Erg plumbers agents not recommended received a bill for £340 for putting a length of PTF tape on small leak on stop tap that took 10 mins

Scammer - beware.

I had a burst pipe, water running down the wall. They had me waiting in all day for a plumber that never arrived. That's a whole days worth of damage because of these incompetents. They charge £150 / hour and still cant be bothered turning.

Excessive prices and overestimating time needed to do the job. Ultimately left me and my children without water for 4 days after a no show by their engineer. Now left with a messy chargeback situation to recoup money for a service they failed to deliver. Frankly I felt that they have taken advantage of our plumbing emergency (burst mains pipe under floor). Luckily found someone to clean up their mess in literally half the time.

Phoned on Easter Sunder and chose an appointment on the following Tuesday. Told them that we had no hot water and I suspected either diverter valve or diaphragm and gave the precise model of the boiler. Two guys came and tried to fix - no problem with this, they were excellent - then I was told that they didn't have the correct part so would have to come back. The hourly rate was an eye watering £125+VAT. Coming back the second day would add another hour - total price would be £350 to replace a small diaphragm - cost of the part was £40 but this also seems extortionate. Given that I had told them the boiler model number and the likely part that was at fault I don't think I should pay for two visits. Anyway, I turned down their quote and will talk to someone a little less pricey. Service absolutely fine but pricing and lack of clarity on number of hours/visits required makes me cross them off my list of companies to use. I can't see how they would ever do a job that required a part for any less than £300. Extortionate pricing. Avoid unless you have money to spare.
