I had surgery performed on my eyelid for a very painful condition . Ms Fiona Irvine did a first class job . The staff from reception to nurses were excellent . I can’t recommend them highly enough .
The surgery was very successful and all completed with the minimum of fuss .

I underwent bilateral cataract surgery at ExeterEye. Mr. Conor Ramsden was my surgeon. I experienced absolute professionalism, kindness and care from everybody concerned. I could not have asked for more in any way. I was obviously anxious but everything was explained, I felt no pain and am absolutely thrilled with the results. The only problem is that I can't get used to not needing glasses!!! Thank you everyone, Ann Anderson.

I went to Peter Simcock for a consultation about cataract removal because he had operated successfully on my wife's eyes several years ago. He said he could improve my eyesight but I was unsure if it would be worthwhile. After thinking about it for nearly a year I decided to go ahead and I'm very glad I did! I cannot recommend Exeter Eye and particularly Mr Conor Ramsden highly enough. I recently underwent complex macular hole surgery (vitrectomy) and subsequently cataract surgery with a toric lens implant. The entire experience was outstanding from start to finish.
From my first consultation, Mr Ramsden’s professionalism was evident. He took the time to explain the procedures in clear, reassuring detail, which gave me complete confidence heading into surgery. The complexity of a macular hole repair can be daunting, but his expertise and calm manner made me feel I was in the very best hands.
Both surgical processes were incredibly smooth on both occasions. On the day of surgery, the clinical staff were fantastic, extremely caring, attentive, and dedicated to making sure I was comfortable and at ease. I had bilateral sequential cataract surgery with Toric Eyhance lenses. I was treated by Peter Simcock. I could not compliment Peter more highly as his approach and manner represents the very best of professional standards. The results of the surgery for me are astounding in terms of vision improvement and removal of the annoying consequences of cataracts. For any nervous patients the whole team offer support and explanation of the process. 5 star review all round.

I've been seeing Opthalmic Consultant Mr Michael Smith for over 2 years for for glaucoma risk and have just had very successful surgery on both eyes which is frankly life changing.
Everyone who has dealt with me at Exeter Eye has treated me with courtesy, respect and kindness. My surgeon, the anaesthetists, clinical staff etc. are all highly skilled and knowledgeable, and I have no hesitation in giving the team a 5 star review.

I have recently had cataract surgery on both eyes by Mr Quinn at Exeter Eye. A nervous patient, I had such reassurance at every stage. I chose sedation, which I recommend for anyone feeling apprehensive. Everything was thoroughly explained and all my concerns and requests fully addressed. I felt properly looked after at every stage, even having a mobile number to ring day or night should any serious complications arise, which they did not. I now have better than 20/20 vision, glare from headlights whilst driving at night is minimal, and I will never need glasses again!! Highly recommend both the surgery and Exeter Eye.

I can thoroughly recommend Exeter Eye and in particular Mr Neil Bowley, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and his team. I had Cataract removal surgery and Puresee lens implant operations in both eyes, one month apart. Every member of the team and especially Mr Bowley, talked you through every step and made me feel very calm and confident. The result is amazing, I have worn glasses for nearly 50 years and now only need them for reading small print.

Exeter Eye and in particular Mr Peter Simcock (and Hilary and Liz his secretaries) have been excellent in helping me to have my bilateral cataract operations. Mr Simcock explains everything in a simple and reassuring way, giving options on the different type of replacement lenses available. I had high astigmatism in both eyes and he suggested that I should have Toric lenses.

The staff at Exeter Eye were all very reassuring and helpful on the day of both operations and the whole procedure only took 20 minutes maximum.

I can now say that I have had both eyes done and my astigmatism is totally gone and I just need a weak pair of reading glasses.

I cannot recommend Mr Peter Simcock highly enough. He is everything and more that you would like to have as a Consultant Surgeon. Thank you.

Excellent Care and Fantastic Results

I recently had IOL replacement surgery at Exeter Eye with Mr Anthony Quinn, and the results have been life-changing. After more than fifty years of wearing glasses and contact lenses for severe short-sightedness, I now have 20/20 distance vision and only need a tiny prescription for reading.

The care from Mr Quinn and the team was outstanding — professional, kind, and reassuring throughout. I couldn’t be happier and would highly recommend Exeter Eye to anyone considering corrective eye surgery.

It took some time for me to decide but Ms Irvine made the procedure on both my eyes a relaxed experience completed skilfully and far more quickly than anticipated. Concealing the detail of the bi lateral excision of lesion allayed any stresses that come with surgery on the eyes.

Both my husband and now I have been treated by Peter Simcock and his team for cataract and associated surgery. It has changed our lives, from poor and often worrying sight to clear and perfect vision. From initial individual consultation, explanation of procedures and expected results, to actual surgery and follow up reviews, we cannot recommend Peter and his team at Exeter Eye highly enough. I have recently had cataract surgery on both eyes. The operations were carried out by Mr Neil Bowley. The whole experience with Exeter Eye , from my first consultation to the final check up was exceptional and I cannot praise them highly enough.

My late husband had serious eye problems and Mr Simcock looked after him very well, so, when I felt I needed cataract operations, my first thought was to visit Mr Simcock too, and thank goodness I did! Apparently, I have a condition which makes cataract operations more challenging and I was very anxious. Mr Simcock spent time explaining the risks, weighing pros and cons, and offering advice. Both operations were successful despite the problem, and my vision is great again. Very kind support staff too and a positive experience. Thank you very much.

I had both cataracts replaced by Peter Simcock. The whole experience was explained very well and the staff were all very kind and helpful. The result was extremely successful and I am now able to read without any assistance. All highly recommended.

I had cataract surgery with Peter Simcock on both eyes at Exeter Eye with Toric lenses fitted. The pre-op tests were very thorough; everything was explained and sedation was offered for nervous patients. Although one eye was a more complex operation that normal, the operations were painless and the theatre staff could not have been more kind. I especially appreciated the gluten-free biscuits after each operation! Mr Simcock went over and above what I expected in aftercare appointments and reassuring phone calls.

I have had cataract surgery on both eyes (on separate dates). Both operations were conducted by an experienced and professional surgeon assisted by the same anaesthetist with nurses helping me before and after surgery with care and attention

Miss von Lany was helpful, understanding and professional. She made me feel very relaxed and I am extremely pleased with the results of my cataract operations.

Following lens replacements by another provider, I developed bloodshot eyes which I was told couldn't be corrected - that was until I consulted Miss Irvine at Exeter Eye.
She identified the cause of the problem and the recommended treatment (Ectropion Repairs)
She repaired both eyelids successfully and I cannot recommend her surgical skills more highly.

I had Refractive Lens exchange in both eyes in January 2025. From the moment that we saw Mr Quinn, the Ophthalmic Consultant, the service was professional and informative in every way. Nothing was too much trouble, and I had complete confidence from the initial meeting with the consultant`s expertise. The surgery procedure was painless and the nursing team were excellent.
