I whish I had taken both courses (tasting and theory) sooner. It really helped me to learn how to correctly answer the questions the WSET- way and pass the exams.

Great way of breaking down the elements of how to improve tasting and tackling the D3 tasting exam!

Jim has an extensive knowledge of wine, a way with people and a way with full-on patience, that makes him the best person to have on your side when you're learning about wine.
My path first crossed with Jim's when I started the diploma, and ultimately my life stuff got in the way of studying. Towards the end, and some years further on, I was losing confidence.
I then joined one of Jim's wine fairs to prepare for the diploma D3 tasting - the sessions included many samples of wine alongside live zoom workshops.
Jim included a thorough amount of base material and then, with other students on the course, it was eventually and proactively built into a fantastic resource.
With Jim, no question is too small, any of your doubts are there to be talked away, and confidence is there to be uplifted.
I cannot recommend Jim highly enough. Jim's dedication and support to his learners makes my heart sing.

Jim’s tasting workshops are fantastic grounding for the WSET Diploma tasting exams. I did a Mon/Thurs evening course in preparation for D3. He teaches you how to calibrate your palate, but importantly how to approach the tasting exam, how to structure your answers, and how to maximise the marks you can gain, even when/especially when you’re not completely sure what you have in the glass. He is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and personable, and makes the sessions really enjoyable and interactive. He also gives feedback in between sessions and marks your homework, which is really helpful. I can’t praise his style of teaching enough. It was the best learning experience I had on the whole Diploma (I graduated this week!).

Jim and Erica were stellar teachers! Their guidance and methodology to approach the D3 Theory exam played an important role in my success.
They’re extremely knowledgeable both in wines and in explaining thoroughly what the WSET wants from their students in the exams.
Furthermore, Jim and Erica created a friendly and positive environment in their small group studies. All my questions were answered in a comprehensive manner.
I couldn’t ask for more kind and expert teachers. If you’re feeling overwhelmed and struggling with the diploma, I really recommend giving their courses a chance.

I had my graduation this week, I finally made it to the end of the WSET Diploma! Believe me that moment you walk across the stage at The Guildhall, London to symbolically accept your Diploma is the best feeling ever. I started in 2019, interrupted by Covid finally doing my D3 classes in 2022 and taking the final D3 exam in May 2023. I'm 100% certain, I would not have succeeded in the tasting without Jim's expert guidance. His approach, logic and strategy on how to approach tasting exams is quite simply brilliant. The tasting classes really help you calibrate your pallet and teach you how to describe what is in the glass and approach the quality assessment in a way that gets you marks. I did a D3 tasting course before my D3 exam and in my opinion it is absolutely essential and worth every penny. Before that I did a D5 Fortified class and a D4 Sparkling. These two can be challenging categories but again Jim de-mystified them and it gave me the tools to approach the exams with confidence.

Immediately after my enrollment for support classes for the WSET diploma exam, i received messages by several means of communication.
Very determined, direct and professional with dates, schedules, names and phone numbers.
Including me in the whatsapp group particularly made me feel supported and part of, resulting in a push to perform, crossing my self built boundaries.

I enjoyed the clear outline of classes, with a follow up of knowledge and degree, obviously to the degree we were expected to pass.
Starting at beginners level (a level we all had passed before), gave the all important attitude of 'can do', becoming at ease and taking out all anxiety and feeling of failure.
This has been immensely important to me personally as i have suffered from a low self esteem for years.

A wide variety of study styles, such as group zoom meetings, self study, studying with other students on small projects, sharing and discussing, receiving feedback and advice on how to improve has been highly motivating and gave me confidence.

The movement and speed to levels up has been gradual and at reasonable pace, with explanation about the differences and similarities at every level and clearly outlining what is expected for the WSET 4 exam.
Particularly the latter has been a key to success, lifting the fale and being able to prepare appropriately by giving clues to improve on how to formulate your answer, including facts and usage of appropriate words.
Taking this into account with private study time gave the right direction in how to memorize the great amount knowledge and connect this to the degree of exam questions.

I highly recommend Jim Gore's Global Wine Academy for professional support on your studies and career in wine.
His educational approach stands out particularly among others for all reasons mentioned above.

Jim is just an amazing Professor and Coach. He starts the journey understanding your gaps and strengths and assisting you to put a working plan that addresses your improvement opportunities. Moreover, due to his previous roles with WSET, he dominates the L4 assessment methods like nobody else and explains in detail how you should work them.

I did the D3 tasting weekend prep back in 2022 before my D3 exam. As we had already finished classes it really helped my recalibrate, and calm my nerves. Jim also helped me nail a few things I was having trouble with, like tannin levels. Would definitely recommend this!

Absolute must for any Diploma student preparing for the exams or any wine lover, if you’re lucky to get to Jim’s private tasting sessions. He is one of the most knowledgeable and humble person and a pleasure to interact with!

I would highly recommend Jim Gore's coaching process. It's extremely well put together and it has the reassuring guidance of Jim Gore, who I must say is the finest instructor one could hope for. Clarity, expertise, and the incredible ability to see how you may have arrived at an erroneous answer, and then to talk you round to the right one.

Simply, without Jim, I would not have survived the WSET Diploma D3. Together with Erica, their Match Fit course enabled me to pass the theory paper in May - I would have failed for sure. I await January results for the tasting resit but with much greater confidence than the first attempt, 100% attributed to Jim and his Tasting Workshop. His direct involvement with the WSET, including examinations, gives him the huge advantage of being able to advise on their expectations. Also, his focus on structure, keywords and phrases, are hugely beneficial for the exams. He is highly professional, organised and responsive.
