I'm a very meticulous consumer of fine jewelry & have made purchases w/in some of the finest jewelry shops in N.Y., Chicago, & California. During my informal jewelry education I've noted that consumer not only pay for the particular good, but all the associated cost(s). A huge facility w/ all the bells & whistles translates to higher pricing. So please don't be fooled by the quaint size of Gregg Helfer's shop for an instant. they offer an array of fine product lines equal to or in my personal opinion better then that of larger brand name shops within the couture filled Mag mile of Michigan Ave. or Wabash Ave. diamond district in Chicago. In addition, they have an extensive inventory of merchandise that extends beyond their door.

I met with Michael, who offers pristine customer service & operations along with Gregg "the Guru", of precious stones & fine metals. This family offers a lineage filled with unparalleled experience and industry insight. The two create a perfect complimentary blend. I assure you that you'll leave truly satisfied w/ your final purchase.

I came in for a one of a kind engagement ring & I left w/ a product that cannot be surpassed regarding the overall quality in reference to the "three c's". Which means other then increasing the overall total carat weight, you cannot buy a finer engagement ring. Even more important, my fiancé is happy w/ the final product & that's priceless. This review is 100% authentic in content. With that said I recommend Gregg Helfer Ltd. without reservation.

My now-husband chose Gregg Helfer Ltd. to pick my engagement diamond and our rings after a thorough search of Internet reviews. We were delighted to find that Michael, the person with whom we worked, indeed provided us with the excellent service we expected based on the reviews.

We went on our lunch breaks to select the diamond and rings. Michael was waiting, on time, with 3 lovely stones in the ½ - ¼ carat range, per the request of Larry, my then-fiancé. He gave us a brief education on the 3 Cs of diamonds, and I picked one of the stones.

At that point, Larry turned to Michael and said, ‘If it was anyone else sitting beside me, I would not ask this question . . . can you show us something in a full carat?’ Michael checked the inventory, and arranged to show us 2 more diamonds. He was efficient, and yet never made us feel rushed. We completed the selection and ring sizing within our lunch hours. I now wear a gorgeous 1.1 carat diamond, which sparkles at me all day.

We were eloping to Vegas in a couple of weeks, and Michael ensured that we had the rings several days prior to our flight. He even cleaned my diamond studs when we picked up the rings.

I would recommend this place to anybody who wants to have the most gorgeous ring made for them. With many, many years under their belt. The guys here are very experience and helpful with your needs being met. Please give them a call when you are looking for a private jeweler.

Per Gregg's careful direction two ring stones were seamlessly extracted from rings provided and transformed into unique cufflinks for my husband to be. Gregg dispensed valuable advice and feedback that made me feel comfortable with the design. His attention to detail and care resulted in beautiful cufflinks, which were well received by my fiance and impressed my future parents-in-law.

Gregg was a huge help to me in picking out an engagement ring and diamond. I had a pretty good understanding of what my girlfriend liked so I went into the purchase with a baseline...Gregg helped me perfect it. From teaching me the important aspects of the ring design, to the selection of the diamond...he was awesome. He wasn't pushy at all in recommendations for the diamond and even made some recommendations that resulted in less revenue for him as far as ring size, color, etc. All in all, I trust his judgment and service and will definitely be going back to him for our future jewelry needs!

Gregg Helfer has been my family's jeweler for 15 years. Both my sons bought their engagement and wedding rings from Gregg. He listens to his clients' priorities, and presents diamonds with varying characteristics within a price range so that the client can select the jewel and then an appropriate setting. He spends as much time as the client needs to understand which diamond is the best choice given the budget and the preferences of the client. The fiancée of one of my sons wore her great- great grandmother's engagement ring after Gregg repaired and restored the 100+ year old ring. He then designed and made a wedding ring for the heirloom engagement ring. When my daughter-in-law requested some changes to the wedding ring, they were made quickly and expertly. I recommend Gregg Helfer because he has an incredibly broad knowledge and appreciation for fine jewelry, and is completely trustworthy. His pricing his more than fair. You can't go wrong here.

We lost the original engagement ring after owning it a few months. The original came from a bigger franchise store and they were fairly unresponsive and unhelpful in trying to replicate it the second time. We met with Greg and within a few weeks had a version that looked exactly the same and was even prettier than the original version....all paid for by insurance. Greg had no issues with working through the insurance company to get paid and we couldn't have asked for more. Highly recommend.
