Handwriting OCR helps people and organisations turn handwritten documents into clean, searchable and editable text. The service is designed for the kinds of writing that traditional OCR often struggles with, including cursive, faded ink, mixed scripts and messy notes. Customers can upload photos or PDFs, let the AI transcribe the handwriting, and export results as Word, Markdown or plain text. Handwriting OCR also provides tools for structured documents and workflows, including PDF-to-Excel conversion, an API, and integrations for teams processing larger volumes. The platform supports more than 300 languages and is used for a wide range of documents, from letters, journals and family archives to forms, field notes, research material, legal correspondence and classroom work. It serves individuals as well as organisations that need to process large document collections. Privacy is a core part of the service. Uploaded documents are used only to provide the requested OCR service and are not used to train Handwriting OCR’s AI models or sold to third parties. Documents are encrypted in transit and at rest and are automatically deleted according to the retention settings chosen by the customer. Handwriting OCR is an independent, UK-based company headquartered in central London. The product was created after its founder experienced the difficulty of digitising decades of family letters and notebooks by hand. Today, the team focuses on accurate handwriting recognition, straightforward workflows and responsive support for customers worldwide.

Amazingly accurate output! Very exciting find!!!!
This is the best handwriting recognition service of all the ones I tested. Unbelievably good results! Also has side-by-side viewing against the original so you can easily check for and correct errors. I am so excited to have found this program!

Perfect
it's a brilliant concept and makes everyday life so much easier. Well done on this idea. In particular, I find the option of a one-off top-up of 100 pages per year for exclusively private users to be perfectly tailored to my needs

Deciphering 18th Century Documents Written in German
I recently have started to decipher documents from two archives in Germany. Two such documents date to 1724 and 1761.
I have had real success using handwritingocr . In fact, it has generally performed better than a couple of competing solutions. And, the prices are reasonable.

A brilliant transcribing and translations…
A brilliant transcribing and translating service. The transcriptions of old wills (back into the 1500s with writing that is almost unreadable to me) has been incredibly good with what I would think to be 99% accuracy (unlike other services I’ve tried) Highly recommended!!

Super accurate, turned difficult handwritten pages into usable text
I used Handwriting OCR to digitise a collection of handwritten documents that ordinary OCR tools couldn’t read accurately. Uploading the files was straightforward, and the results came back quickly with the original structure largely preserved.
A few faded words needed correcting, but the transcription saved me hours of manual typing. Exporting the finished text was simple, and I appreciated the clear privacy information about how uploaded documents are handled.
I’d recommend Handwriting OCR to anyone working with handwritten letters, notes, journals or archive material.
